Max Anstie is 31 years old and sand tracks like Southwick are extremely physically demanding tracks on everybody !
but Deegan does have the big age and fitness advantage over Anstie coming in to Southwick. Deegan isn't a big sand specialist by any means but he's got coming from WORST TO FIRST CONFIDENCE on his side as well ! Watch out when DEEGAN finally figures out sand tracks as well 😎💪🤙

Anstie was 6 seconds faster than Brian Deegan... Not Haiden Deegan.
Brian was wearing Haiden's gear at TheWick. Pretty easy to notice the riding difference, but a false drama from Cooksie isn't surprising.
@tankeater there's no way Brian in his prime would be within 6 seconds a lap of Anstie.

Brian DID race in HD38 gold number gear. Anstie DID look slow because he's feeling out the bike... A fast Brian, compared to Anstie taking it easy, sounds about like 6 seconds to me. But, go ahead. I'm not surprised you would trust Cooksie's word when it comes to Deegan hate. 😉

IF Antse was faster, it's not surprizing since the Euros spend a lot more time in the sand and on beat up tracks that US riders.
@Penny_Pincher_Outdoors exactly, this could be the track for him to show something but even still it wouldn't be surprising to see Deegan win this weekend.
Last I checked Deegs is the only dog on the track.

Colt said for his own well being. I think he had safety concerns with the new bike and felt he couldn’t ride it at race speed safely. Deegan practice and qualifying always way different than his race mentality. So I put no weight behind some practice lap times beating him.
@jasont4610 yeah I did notice that. Either that or he just feels like that bike isn't going to be a contenders any time soon. Definitely worth considering it could be a safety concern though. As far as Haiden, I'm sure he could have a great weekend but if there is going to be a good challenge for him this year, this it it.
The only person with footage is bpmedia. He personally said deegan didn’t ride much if any that day. While max was testing all day.

@@Scandle68 yeah looks like it ,they say he was six seconds faster than haiden ,so let's work that out ,haidens fastest lap last week was 2 10 hunter and sexton were a shade faster still in the 2 10s ,jett had a 2 09 ,so if max was six seconds faster than haiden he would be 5 seconds faster than jett ,so not only would he lap the 250 field he would also win the 450 , Amazing it's taken him this long to get a full factory ride in America .
@@michaelhoward7652 yeah that *six seconds per lap faster than Deegan" thing means nothing if it's even true at all. I can see Anstie being pretty good at Southwick due to his gp history, but the track they will be racing on will be a lot tougher with 35 other riders. I guarantee Deegan will come out ahead of Anstie

This Southwick race is just one of the races remaining. So, it doesn't matter how Deegan does at Southwick. For all the other racers, the problem they face is Deegan's ability on the remaining non-sandy tracks. Deegan will run away with the title as long as he doesn't get hurt.
I'd agree with that, he already has over a 1 moto lead so he can afford a dnf if needed.
I would like to thank the powers that be for putting the majority of MX and SX events on pay only channels. Wringing every last nickel out of us ay?! Looks like I will continue watching you tube highlight reruns. Way to keep the fan base engaged.

With streaming taking over, everything comes at a price. And being an old geezer, I don't have to like it.
So Star signed Max to beat Deegs, yeah right, they are keeping hom for a fill in 450 rider if he does well. Surely they told him not to take points off Deegs if he wants a ride.
Honestly I doubt he will be beating Deegan but if it does come down to a battle between them I'm sure he will fight for it.

The reason I think Star went to Southwick…?? One.. to give Max a chance to test the bike in very similar conditions on the track they’re racing. Two.. to give Haiden an extra edge and get the bike setup well. I think he’ll be much MUCH better this weekend on the sand than people are giving him credit for. If they assume he will do poorly, he could come out there and kick butt and would demoralize his competitors even more. Three.. Star is bringing Max in now, so Haiden will actually have a teammate running up front with him. It’ll help the points spread. Star isn’t putting Max on that bike for outdoors for him to take moto wins from Deegan. He’s their guy right now. Do I think Max has the speed to win? You betcha he does, but Joey hasn’t faired so well in the 250 class so far. Be interesting to see what happens. Lastly, THERE IS ZERO EVIDENCE Haiden got “smoked on the lap times”. Cooksey is a crazy dude that speaks before HE KNOWS. If anything, I think that pisses Deegan off enough to make him fight even harder for the win. To shove it right back in the haters’ faces. Now that’s something I would love to see 🤙🏻🙏🏻. If you watch some of Deegan’s Snapchat videos, he looks freaking fast at Southwick. I have a hard time believing Max was faster, let alone 6 seconds faster than him in one lap.

People act like he did so bad last year here but he really didn’t. On paper they weren’t the best but first moto he got 4th. Second moto he had a couple crashes and trying to come thru the pack, as a rookie, on that track, with sand all down every part of your body is hard. Two of the guys who beat him when he got that 4th are gone so are to say if he stays up and doesn’t get a 25-30th place start like last race, he should podium at worst. Hopefully he just takes what the track and his limit gives him and doesn’t try to push it just to beat Tom or whoever. Hes got a big points gap and this is really the only track left that he isn’t “good” at. With red bud, washougal, budds, and iron man still to come after, those tracks will be tough to beat him on or gain many points because I don’t see him getting worse than 2nd or 3rd at any of them. No dumb crashes and hopefully no bike issues and the title is his if he rides smart at SW.

Max will be lacking fitness so he'll be doing good to be in the top 7 or 8. Deegan is not slow in the sand. Vialle, Masterpool, and Shimoda are the only three with a shot at beatiing Deegan unless Deegan crashes. Even then, they would still be the only three with a shot.

@@motofevermedia1 Man I don't know. The kid is good, but I haven't seen how he rides sand. If his sand skills are good, I wonder if his fitness is where it needs to be to run at the front for two motos at Southwick. When you look at his size and the fact that he's on a Honda, I don't see him getting good starts at all. I could be wrong, but my guess is that he will struggle at Southwick and wind up on the lower end of the top ten at best. Just my guess.... Yet... I can see him winning on other tracks.
I usually just watch SX but I’m watching more MX this season.
Where is Southwick located and why so much sand?
@justwatching6186 it's in Massachusetts, pretty far inland near Springfield. I'm not sure if it's naturally sandy there or if they brought it in but I've always been under the impression that's just how it is there which is kind of weird since it's so far inland.

Anstie…no…..but everyone is sleeping on masterpool. The dude is getting more and more comfortable every week AND has shown he can run haiden’s pace! Not saying he’s taking the series but could make it interesting, or let’s hope for us. 450 class is a snooze fest. Last thing we need is 250 class being the same.

Max Anstie faster than Deegan, that's hilarious given that no one is faster than Deegan 250 or 450. The Jett Lawrence psychological meltdown will continue 😢 If Tom Vialle was to start in on estrogen blockers now it could take months to restore to the levels of a Deegan😮
Deegan is killing it and is definitely the fastest 250 guy in general but I could see him possibly struggling a bit this weekend.

@Legalizeranch420 I'm definitely not a Deegan hater haha, I think he's great for the sport. Definitely might not agree with everything he does but overall he's awesome. I don't know if it was his dad or what I obviously wasn't there but from what I did hear, he was slower than Max but he also didn't ride as much as Max. Good news is we will find out tomorrow for sure exactly what's going on 🫠

So far this MX season all tracks have been ripped shallow and have been grip and rip tracks which suits Deegan. It is going to be good to see how he goes at Southwick, hope it is deep sand that will test him. As he had poor finishes in deep rutted and long sand section SX tracks. That is what I have noticed this year.
No one cares about maxs hot laps on a practice day!! He cant go 30 plus 2 at the pace haiden can and also is way faster on race day than he is at the track deegs Goin 1-1 wrapping this title up at red bud !
I would agree with that for the most part, Max was flying on the SX test tracks as well and while he did get a win, he definitely wasn't the fastest guy out there. Still curious to see though. Seems like if there was a place he could do it, southwick is it!
