1950 Oldsmobile 88 for sale at Volo Auto Museum (V19510)

Only 14 miles since a body off the frame restoration. Everything was apart and restored. It was upgraded with Vintage Air, disc brakes and power steering. I think it is a very handsome body style with several very cool features and great colors.
EXTERIOR: The body has no rust or damage. Its smooth clean metal from the rockers to the roof. Everything fits very nicely. The black paint is polished out like a mirror. The beige roof is also like glass. The chrome trim looks like it's all been replated. The stainless has been straightened and polished. Some of the cool features I like are the rocket hood ornament, cool taillight trim with "88" molded right in and futuramic is embossed in the side moldings. Very good original glass, the wraparound windshield is new. Weather strips were replaced.
INTERIOR: Beautifully restored original. The recushioned seats are upholstered in genuine leather and pinstriped cloth. The door panels are done to match. The dash area is repainted, the chrome sparkles, gauges are clean. The steering wheel is gorgeous, it's cool enough to hang in my office. There is a factory clock and a retro stereo in the factory hole. The air conditioning controls are neatly mounted under the dash. The headliner was replaced, it has a day/night mirror.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It is obvious the entire engine compartment was disassembled and restored. The rocket motor was rebuilt and has a 4-barrel carburetor. It's painted the correct green and has the cool rocket valve covers, original manifolds, air cleaner and glass bowl filter. A new Vintage Air system was installed. It was upgraded from a generator to an alternator and from 6 volt to 12 volt. It has a more modern power steering system. An electric fan helps keep it running cool. The metal is smooth and painted a nice semi gloss finish.

These early 50s GM cars may not be as popular as those from the mid-late 50s, but they're awesome cars that look great stock, and can be customized in a lot of different ways in different styles and still look pretty good. This one has to be one of the most handsome Oldsmobiles I've ever seen.
I think the front end being higher like that is a good look, looks like it just wants to get up and go!
The stance is just right. The height is perfect.
Always a real pleasure to see one of these beautiful cars!
And of course, in such condition or shape like this one, it is amazing.

Wow!!! What an absolute treat to see!!! Here's another one that brings nostalgia back for me!!! And such a beautiful classic Olds!! Again, watching it turn, the finish looks wet, and the metal appears pristine! My first thought was, "Look at that beautiful shine"!!! The black finish ... accented with the chrome, and the perfect contrast of the top ..... Absolutely stunning. I lean towards the 60s, but this car is outstanding!!! Congrats on a great pick ... and again, very well shown and described. Thank you for another great one!!
P.S.: Again, no criticism from here; price-wise or any-wise ..... The car is 71 years young, and couldn't have looked this good, or have had the updated equipment. I've been critical of Volo pricing in very few .... and I mean very few cars or trucks that they've ever listed .... If there's the least ding or nick, hairline crack or paint flaw, Mr Grams is up front and points it out. They've been in the business some sixty-one years .... They know how to look them over, how to buy them, how to bring them up to their standards and then to list them at a fair price. In my opinion, they're straight, fair and on point with quality, integrity and pricing. If one wants a buy-worthy classic or collector, Volo is the place to go.
Nice little Olds. I would definitely change out those wheels for chrome baby moons with 14" fatter radial whitewalls.... and yes, the stance is a little too high in the front.

My Dad always told me these 49- 50 Rocket 88s had a steering problem... They keep turning into gas stations for fuel... :) Nice Olds !

I think that was the first OHV engine produced. Its the Grandfather to today's Muscle car... Even sounds the part...
Yes sir, it has the 324 Olds engine which debuted in the early 50's. That was the predecessor to the 327 Chevy small block, which didn't come out until 1962.
