- Pt. Omkarnath Thakur (24 June 1897 - 29 December 1967) was an influential Indian educator, musicologist, and Hindustani classical singer. He is famously known as "Pranav Rang", his pen-name. A disciple of classical singer Vishnu Digambar Paluskar of Gwalior gharana, he became the principal of Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Lahore, and later went on become the first dean of the music faculty at Banaras Hindu University.
During her Dissertation on Pandit Omkarnath Thakur (for her Master in Vocal Music, May 2017), Shilpa Shah, found out the startling fact that no documentary has ever been made on the legendary musician... She conceived the idea to make one.
Inspired by the great musical heritage of Pandit Omkarnath Thakur, Dr Archana Dixit and her student , Shilpa Shah embarked on a journey from Surat to Banaras, to rediscover the story of the prodigal musician.

Great job... No words... feeling very nostalgic... many memories and many anecdotes heard from my respected guru, who was a disciple of Punditji at Bharuch as well as at Banaras, pops up suddenly... I think Punditji and his contributions needs to be recognised more though his greatness is at the highest always.
I’m blessed to be a part of his tutoring lineage. He was such an enigmatic personality. 🙏

My father Magahi Kokil JaiRam Singh was his disciple and he had got his opportunity to accompany with him on the Tabla several times during his practice in the morning session and he used to say that he was totally lost in his divine singing .
Such a Doyen of classical music is born on the earth in a millennium.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🌹🌹

I initially became interested in Pandit Omkarnath Thakur when i read that my favorite violinist, Dr. N. Rajam, had learned from him, and maybe I'm wrong, but it sounds like her playing is used as backing tracks for this film. I wish there were more documentaries like this. -David Berner
