THE ULTIMATE BREATH CONTROL EXERCISE - For Daily Practice - Vocal Guidance
Have been doing these two exercises for around 3 weeks now, and this Saturday could blow out all 25 candles on my birthday cake with still some breath left in me. thanks for it!
Ha ha ha! Is that an improvement?
@@ImproveYourVoice I think so! Last year it was a lot harder to do with 24 :)
Amazing!
With these breathing exercises, I'll finally be able to join the Demon Slayer corps. Becoming a Hashira will be a breeze! (pun very intended)
Wow I love the paper idea. Super practical and tangible. Thank you
This probably has been the most helpful video I came across regarding this topic. Thanks
Amazing trick. Will definitely give it a try
Thank you for your generosity in sharing these lessons
I appreciate this information man. I knew I wasn't breathing correctly because I was taking in one big breath (even deep down into the abdomen area) but the breath wouldn't carry and would be shallow. Thinking, or imagining to slowly/gradually take in the breath is a great visualization!
That guitar music is lovely as well as the content of your video 🔥
Wow!!!! 😯 FANTASTIC exercise!! This is what I’ve been looking for! Thank you so much!! 😃
Thank you!
Thanks for this. I'll try this.
I am still 16 and wanted my voice to improve. Starting with the breathing practice. thanks a lot, this video greatly helps me and improve my breathing. May good bless you

I love the comedy!!!!
Very helpful info well put!
Thanks
Thankful! 🙏🙏
Thanks👍
I like this.
Thanks, thats such a simple trick and i know it works
Excellent! Have you done something similar before?
Thanks! Can I replace the second exercise with a sustained /z/ sound - or any other sustained sound -, for example?
Can you use a notebook which you hold in your arms and then put the "coin" on (to have it in front of you). I am asking, because I wonder, how it would be possible to use in a class where everyone is sitting... Great trick, though, loving it! 😍🙌🏻
Thaks for guide sir
No problem!
Thank you Darragh :)
It has come to my attention that you do not have the wicked cool Irish name I thought you did, my greatest apologies Darren
Regarding your courses, offering an articulation part separate from the main course is a good idea. Perhaps the rest of the eight-week course could also be available in chunks? Additionally, I think it would help if the content of each lesson was explained in a couple of lines.
Actually the Advanced articulation is different! It’s more aimed at those who know the issue is specifically articulation. The articulation in the 8-week is different. Whilst I totally understand the mindset behind splitting the 8 week course up into chunks it doesn’t then promise the benefits which maintaining two months of a regimented plan does. And that’s the main thing. It is set up in a specific order to build ion the previous week! People might like bite sized options but I maintain that 8 weeks is the minimum effort for maximum results. For that reason I refuse to split it up. It just doesn’t work that way. Totally logical idea though I’m not knocking you and your tip to offer a sentence or two is very insightful and I will take steps to get that done ASAP. Thank you for your comments, it’s very useful. 🙏🙏💪💪😁😁😉
This exercise can help to overcome stammering
Back then when I was learning English with my teacher. He suggested that my speaking problem might be from my breath. I think I will try this method out. Thank for ur vid!
You’re welcome! What else did he say?
My problem is that I'm always forget to breathe deeply when I'm talking
Guided Wim Hof Method Breathing
Should I blow the paper circle until I'm completely out of air so I can't hold it on the wall anymore or is there a soft spot to look for? I feel like I'm straining at the end, going a little tense.
when speaking i sometimes dont breathe or hold my breathe which is not good and need to improve my expressions too and dont sound to monotone
Guided Wim Hof Method Breathing
My mom says I use to breathe too fast when sleeping and I feel that too right now even ..do I have a problem ?
Hey Mr. McStay,
As of late I’ve found myself without a vocal coach and have stumbled upon your videos. I appreciate all the work you do for this channel and loved this helpful video! I do have a question though. This isn’t exclusive to this experience and exercises, but I’ve noticed when I breathe in deeply my stomach often makes odd noises and I feel a bit of discomfort. Do you know if this something to be concerned about?
Maybe you're hungry? Dehydrated? Pushing too much into the belly and not instead trying to open the back more? Could these be reasons?
Often it happens when I’m hungry or full, so that could be it! However, what would you say about opening the back more? Thank you for your response!
@@wistfuloptimist1238 make sure not to eat 1-2 hrs before vocal exercise. If you've ever eaten a big meal and then done some physical exercise you'll find that there is a build up in your stomach and also you may burp more. Its simple dont eat to close your practice time and you will be fine. If its another reason then I'm not too sure.
Hello,,, I am 27 yrs old female,
Actually my one vocal cord is paralyzed due to an accident that happened about 10 yrs ago. After that i have hoarse and whispering voice .My doctor said it will gradually get better with time... Somehow it has got little better but still I am not fully satisfied......
I feel hoarseness and breathlessness
I just need to confirm is there any solution to get a better voice??
Can speech therapy exercises help in my case???
Keep it up
Thanks Patrack!
@@ImproveYourVoice Hi can u tell how to breathe from stomach
Watch the video again mate...
👌🏼
I will do this exercise coz i feel like i really don't have enough breath when i speak i am always afraid of running out of breath if i am talking and my voice would break
Did you improve or what
Thanks for commenting this old mans vid 🏀🏀
👍
Sir, any recommendations for someone who cannot get breath into the pelvic or low back area?
Your breath doesn't go there!!! Your imagination does 😎
@@ImproveYourVoice I was careful to say breath instead of air, I believe there’s pressure from the breath that supports the low back… correct?
Hmm. Support? 🤔 on Friday I have a video coming out that might be of use to you. It is about breathing more easily in case you have a tight chest, hips or back! 😁
Always remember we must repent of our sins (sin is transgression The Law Of Yahuah The Father in Heaven. The Law are The Books: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, & Deuteronomy). We must repent of our sins and Have Belief On Yahusha The Messiah. HE Died and Rose three days later so that we can be forgiven of our sins!

One question I have is: on the exhale exercise, it feels really ‘muscular’ and oddly kind of stressful to give that intense of a sustained exhale to keep the paper up - I think I get what it’s training, but at the same time I thought singing and speaking are supposed to be a very relaxing, almost sighing sensation…?
I agree it is a little unnatural but remember It’s just an exercise. To do at certain times. If you are in the gym you don’t take the weights home and continue bicep curls. You just do what’s needed in the gym. Train at training times and then continue to breathe naturally when you’re done ✅
Yes that makes sense, thank you!! @@ImproveYourVoice
How many times a day should we do this and for how long?
Do it until you no longer have to think about doing it!!! If that makes sense? Or whenever you need to focus and remain calm perhaps?
Makes sense, thanks dad
Your the fuckin man
When i breathe deeply my nose get congested why?
Are you breathing in through your nose?
@@ImproveYourVoice yes
When you say deeply do you maybe mean fast and forceful or slow and gentle?
@@ImproveYourVoice - I guess it was fast and forceful.
his voice is too confident its overwhelming lol
Bad assumption buddy.
I used to hold my breath to eat, then gasp for air after I finished chewing my food. That continued into my early 20s. I didn't figure out breathing through my nose until my late teenage years. I forget to breath sometimes and find that I am holding my breath, much to my surprise. Did I avoid dying? Yes. Am I adept at breathing and do I have good control and understanding of how I should breath? No.
Which assumption?
@@ImproveYourVoice "I'm assuming that you've done pretty well breathing your whole life" is the assumption to which I am referring. That said, I like your video and I hope to use the exercises you provided to improve.
I hate it when people say that breathing into your diaphragm is breathing into your belly! It only confuses people when they're trying to genuinely figure out how to breath through the diaphragm (as opposed to chest breathing)! Diaphragmic breathing is neither chest breathing OR belly breathing, it's in the middle, underneath your rib cage. If people would simple do a Google search for where the organ is in the body they'd see that! Once you have a visual in your head of where it is physically located, it makes it SO much easier to conscientiously learn to breath from it!
Planting a visual in people's heads of it being "belly breathing" only misleads and misguides people; it's like telling children that babies come from their mother's "tummies". It's ridiculous. Adults can just as easily visualize in their heads where the diaphragm is and how to breath through it as they can belly breathing; stop infantilizing intelligent adults! Coaches and teachers need to stop this nonsense!
You clearly didn’t pay a slight bit of attention to this video to have commented such a load of nonsense! Now watch it, listen and take note of how the purpose is precisely to stop people thinking about their diaphragm, stop breathing into their belly and consider a healthy visual, conducive of a free and effortless speaking mechanism!
@@ImproveYourVoice First off, don't be a snarky ass, I *did* watch the video and nothing I said was being critical of you specifically, or anything you actually said, so if you're having a bad day, find another coping mechamism instead of being a passive aggressive jerk to your subscribers/supporters and taking it out on them! Secondly if you'd read my comment accurately, you would've seen that I was actually AGREEING WITH YOU about how it's faulty that people are taught that breathing from one's belly was innacurate; it was an isolated point to a singular thing that you mentioned in the video, NOT the video as a whole. 😠
Well I must apologise for misreading your comment! I’m Very sorry to have been such a “snarky ass” please forgive me for I have had much criticism in the the few days and your comment does read like an attack on the channel. Any newcomer whom I wish to help might be put off by such negativity and so my defensiveness is on high!
@@ImproveYourVoice Thank you for apologizing; I of course accept it. I actually like your videos and get very useful info from them, so I was pretty taken aback by that passive-agressive/snarky/kind of disrespectful response, when all I was doing was contributing to the conversation with my own personal perspectives on a point you were making, which I agreed with and was glad to hear a professional set the record straight on it, because I see others giving inaccurate instruction all the time; it's a pet-peeve of mine when I hear it.
I don't know how else I could've worded my initial comment so that you didn't take it the wrong way/critically of you, but if that's how I came across, inadvertently, I too apologize, that's not a place I was coming from at all. 👍
DO NOT MOUTH BREATH
WHY NOT?

Really interesting stuff I started doing it, I hope you start as well and you can cover it on your channel please reply if you see this messege :)
Thank you. I've tried a lot of exercises from your channel and it worked. I will try this too. My breath is short hopefully I can do it.
@@kindlehowto1310 That doesn't happen to everyone who mouth breathes tho. I'm an example with a strong bone structure and straight teeth. 💪
