I haven't tested an Intel i5 Mini PC in a while, and I barely noticed a difference between this and most the i7 models I've tested. So, this might be a sweet spot. Also, the features, ports, and options make this useful for plenty of things: proxmox, Linux, creative work, etc. Check out the video for tests and details.

I've been into the Small Form Factor rabbithole for now, and I bought a chinese slim ITX motherboard that has a intel N100 cpu, a ddr5 sodimm slot, 2x m.2 (nvme compatible), 6x sata III ports, a pcie 1x 3.0 slot, and 4x INTEL based 2.5G Ethernet ports. The thing was like 100usd with free shipping. It's quircky but once set up it's just a god tier server that sips power (hooked it to a Pico PSU made for 19v, and an old 19v 65w power adapter that I had from a lenovo laptop). Nobody talks about these, maybe you might consider it one day for a 'make your own NAS' video?
I am glad you have confidence in the chinese frankenstein boards to play with your data and security. Broken BIOS. I will not. Not worth it when you can build equivalent with trusted boards brands.
@@tendosingh5682 mine is the BKHD 1264 NAS it's pretty well regarded for NAS hardware; broken bios? It's actually a fairly decent. Also all that is contained in there is pirated movies, series and videogames lol. And no, that's not an issue in my country legally speaking. Also an Asrock n100 board would cost me almost 400 usd here due to reselling issues, currency exchange issues and massive taxation.
I have the same board. Cwwk nas. Wish i got the n305 but still a good board. Runs my 4 hdd with 2 m.2 logs. Beautiful and small custom nas

I have a MS-01 I'm using for my Proxmox host, and I think it may need repasted or something. It idles around 42 C (I couldn't find what it idles at for others when I searched), and if the CPU gets up to about 5% utilization the fan spins up, which seems absurd. My desktop sits at 15% CPU as we speak and not a peep. I could probably try going into the BIOS and tuning the fan, but it just seems absurd that 5% in CPU should make it that noisy.
The i5 12450H has 4P + 4E cores shouldn't it have 12 threads total?
Also I'd say even a ryzen 5 5800H/HS mini-PC is a better choice. It has both better CPU and GPU performance while consuming half the power and costing less.
Exactly Intel mini pcs make almost no sense in any config beaten by equivalent ryzens 5xxx and above for price and performance.
@@tendosingh5682 core ultra chips are great, but the core i suck.
Even the i3's of the 12th gen+ are excellent for 90% of use cases. The 12100 I put in my GF's rig (work/school/light photoshop/ light games) is very efficient and does better than expected - helps that I paired it with a DDR5 mobo though.
