Middle ear infections are absolutely awful.
They don't happen to me frequently, but when they DO...
    It's such a terrible time.
Everything is muffled and tinny, and ear pain eventually follows.
It makes me so depressed and not wanna do anything from how unbearable it is.
I typically treat it as soon as I can.
Whether it be ear drops, antibiotic pills, or on the rare case, injections.
    Screw ear infections.
Keep your ears clean, ladies and gentlemen!
And drink plenty of water, too!
Dehydration can also lead to clogged/muffled hearing.

I have to wear ear plugs when I shower, stuff kleenex in my ears if it's windy outside, or if I need to set with a fan blowing on me in the summertime. My inner ear tubes are very small, so they don't drain properly causing a painful thump thump thump in my ear & the back of my head. Taking Tylenal or Curcumin natural anti inflammatory & applying a heating pad encourages the fluid to dry up I guess, & makes the pain go away. I'm 60 for crying out loud. But this latest ear phenomenon started when I moved to NW Ohio. It's almost ALWAYS windy here.

Hello! I have just had a horrible ear infection. Antibiotics have worked their magic and the infection and swelling have calmed substantially. As a result, a blockage of wax came out today (hallelujah!) I was so happy as I could hear again... However, now I've had a constant drip of clear, odourless fluid coming out of my ear (no pain) - could this be just the extra fluid from swelling etc needing to come out? I'm a little freaked out! Thanks!

My father stopped a doctor who was piercing my eardrums with a small needle because each time this was done 1% hearing loss would be the result. In my day kids were having Adenoids and Tonsils removed. I thought the drainage tubes were put in at the throat area to open that up the eustachian tube to permit drainage You just said these are placed in the eardrum. If your eardrum is sliced open you will go deaf, not sure what you mean?

    • @LevelUpRN
      @LevelUpRN  Před rokem +3

Yes the tubes are placed in the tympanic membrane, which is the ear drum. It does not result in deafness. Here is a link to a complete description of the myringotomy procedure: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK565858/

But the pain remains and l get tingling also behind and in front of the ear. When l closed my jaw l feel a strange sensationmin my inner ear sa if there is a blockage of somekind. I am awaiting to see an ear specialist as the doctor could not detect anything but gave me oral anti biotics which have helped but the pain and discomfort still remain.l am now wondering is my middle ear infected from stubborn blockage or is it further along the pathway in the eustchain tubes.. I took antibiotics for 5 days (amoxicillin 3 times per day), the pain and stuff got better the second day but I got a yellowish liquid draining from my right ear. I went to the doctor and she said that it was my eardrum that was perced because of the pression of the liquid. It kept draining until 2 days ago when it almost stopped (it's still draining rn but a lot less, it's like drops). I currently have vertigo and headache and my right ear is completely off (i don't hear anything, I can feel my heart beating) and my left ear is also off but less than the right one. I just went to the doctor again and she told me to go see a professional tommorow because she can't do anything (she can't see bc of the pus in my ear).
So yeah, i'm gonna go tmr and hopefully my hearing will be back soon bc it's driving me crazy! I'll make updates if i don't forget :) (anyone with the same condition as me can comment, i wanna know if y'all got your hearing back or not, ty)

@@Aayushh07 Hey! Yeah, I got updates :) So I went to the doctor a first time as i said and they gave me antibiotics again but it didn't worked and my eardrum pierced again (it was horrible) so I went again and they gave me some other antibiotics with 2 different types of ear drops that I had to take for like a week or so and after that, it finally worked! My earring got back after about a week and a half and I went for a quick check with my doctor to see if my eardrum was fine and she just said that my ear can feel weird sometimes but that it was normal and that it could take up to 6 weeks to fully repair (I went on january's first week so it's been about 3 weeks rn) And yeah, my ears are still feeling weird sometimes (especially the one with the pierced eardrum, it feels weird sometimes) but other than that everything is back to normal! I have an appointment on february to check my audition (the doctor told me to) to see if I lost a bit of hearing (and I think I did tbh, it's not exactly like before but it's not too disturbing)
So, yeah, i'm good now and I hope everyone that catches this mess will heal soon!! Remember to cover your ears when you go out. It could be a beanie or even your headphones, it's good to keep them warm especially when it's really cold like these last days. I never did it before but now that I experienced this, I will do it all the time when it's cold. Thank you for reading this and I hope I helped you!
