JASIRAH
Slowly in graceful undulating flight
She moves on stage her veils wings on air;
Silk slowly flowing, sparkling in the light,
Cast to lift and drift away with flair.
Tempo now explodes as does the dancer,
Hips staccato, punctuate quick movement,
The maqam both follower and leader
Drumming celebration with merriment.
She enthralls and seduces all who watch
Moving in defined rhythm, though contained,
By this mistress of body, lithe wench,
Who shares all joy; her passion ordained.
Her beauty radiates from her motion
Our minds drinking deeply of her potion.
