12 City Tracks from past GT games that are not in Gran Turismo 7

  • Gran Turismo 7 features Tokyo Expressway as an urban city track location with multiple different layouts. However, the previous Gran Turismo games featured many more city tracks in a variety of real and fictional locations. Here you can see laps with different cars on 12 different city tracks from GT 1-6 that are not available in GT7 at this time.
    Timeline:
    0:00 Special Stage Route 5
    1:30 Rome Circuit
    3:03 Seattle Circuit
    4:38 Tokyo R246
    6:32 Opera Paris
    8:15 New York
    10:01 Hong Kong
    11:38 Seoul Central
    12:47 London
    14:04 Circuito de Madrid
    15:38 Special Stage Route 11
17:38 Côte d'Azur (Monte Carlo Circuit)
Special Stage Route 5 is a fictional night city track and it is one of the few tracks that were included in every game from GT1 to GT6. There is also a short version of it called Clubman Stage Route 5.
Special Stage Route 11 is a long city track that was exclusive to GT1 and GT3. The layout of the track was slightly changed between the two games. There is also Special Stage Route 7, which goes back and forth on a mostly straight highway.
The city of Rome had multiple completely different tracks. The original Rome Circuit shown in the video was featured in GT2 and GT3. It also had a short version.
GT2 also had a completely different track called Rome Night, which was very difficult and pretty obscure, since it only appeared in the final license and was barely used for races. Then there was another different Rome Circuit that appeared in GT5 and GT6.
Seattle Circuit was also introduced in GT2 and it also had a short version.
GT3 introduced Tokyo R246 (which is based on real roads in Tokyo) and the famous Monte Carlo Circuit from Formula 1, which is called Côte d'Azur in Gran Turismo. It also appears under different names in NFS Shift 2 and in Project Cars games.
Gran Turismo 4 had many interesting city tracks that didn't appear in any other main GT games, including New York, Hong Kong, Seoul Central and Opera Paris.
GT5 and GT6 had tracks in London and in Madrid.
What are your thoughts and memories of these awesome city tracks from GT 1-6? Which of them would you like to see return in GT7 at some point?
Please keep your comments focused on the city tracks here. If you want to see or talk about original race tracks and rural tracks from past games like Grand Valley or El Capitan, then check out my previous video here: • 12 Original Tracks fro...

I wanted a new city circuit when GT6 was upcoming but it never happened. I guess after seeing GTS and GT7, city circuits are not coming back for now. Like the old photo travel mode, PD have expressed their interest in simplifying their modelling efforts to more efficient methods and they've been cracking down on laborious developments, which city circuit modelling closely shares with photo travel. Tokyo Expressway was revealed to be a procedural generation project by PD. I can only imagine that it'll come back once modelling technology and techniques have improved.

    • @staggabob
      @staggabob Před rokem +2

GT7 was never originally intended for PS4, it was only the PS5s poor availability that forced a PS4 release for business reasons. Of course all that's done is shown how little effort they put into the PS5 version since the only difference between the two is resolution, loading times and very subtle (barely noticeable) lighting improvements. Almost all the tracks have just been ported across from GT Sport with minimal changes which makes me wonder wtf the dev team has been doing in the last few years to bring out a far less impressive game than GT4 or 6 were in their day. I expected to see far more tracks and variety- they surely have the budget to outsource some of those older tracks, particularly the newer ones that could be brought up to spec in a few weeks with a modest sized art team. The older PS2 tracks would be a complete rebuild so perhaps more understandable they're missing but even then it's not like Polyphony didn't have the budget to get them done!

I think Special Stage Route tracks are actually Tokyo Expressway so Polyphony Digital should turn, Special Stage Route into Tokyo Expressway themed track instead.

You forgot: Costa di Amalfi and Cità di Aria in GT4 as Ópera Paris Night (GT4) and Rome Night in GT2

I didn't forget them. I am actually talking about Rome Night myself in the description. The others are Special Conditions tracks. Not the type of track that I intend to cover in this video. Maybe I will show them together with the rally tracks or in some other video though. :)

What I don’t like about gran turismo 7 is that we get loads of vision cars & gt cars. I like the old games that had a butt ton of cars

GT6 was a good game, but the PS3 just couldn't handle what PD was trying to achieve with it graphically speaking, hence the screen tearing and frame-rate dips. It also came out after the PS4 launched so the timing definitely hurt its sales.
