Tata AIG is the best one. Agents don't recommend it. May be commission is less. Read the policy document, its the most simple and short one. Not too many ifs and buts.
That's unfortunate to hear but as we said, our experience has been great with the team- be it policy features or claim settlement. There may be 1 or 2 outliers. But, in our experience, HDFC Ergo is one of the best in the market.
HDFC ERGO optima doesn't have modern treatments claim settlement in their policy wording..in future everything would b robotic..which is not covered by HDFC
This is blatant misinformation. IRDAI mandates modern treatment coverage. Also Optima Secure doesn't impose any sublimits on the coverage either. This is easily verifiable even if it's not listed in the policy document. Please talk to an expert advisor before making such blanket statements
What if someone has already hidden his pre existing disease in policy and its 3-4 years running? That person did not disclose PED as he was guided that PED will be taken care of automatically after the waiting period so its not important to disclose. What should one do now to disclose his PED to insurer??? PED was detected 7-8 years ago and policy was taken 3 years ago. Wont his policy be terminated? Or will company reconsider it ? Please tell in details. What's the way out?
If the insurance company finds out about undisclosed pre-existing conditions that were later disclosed to the treating doctor, they may indeed deny the claim based on the non-disclosure. However, porting the policy to another provider and disclosing the pre-existing conditions can be a viable option to obtain coverage moving forward. When switching to a new insurance provider, it's crucial to disclose all relevant information, including pre-existing conditions, accurately and transparently. This will ensure that the new policy is based on correct information and may increase the likelihood of coverage for those conditions. It's also essential to carefully review the terms and conditions of the new policy, especially regarding coverage for pre-existing conditions. Understanding any waiting periods or exclusions related to pre-existing conditions will help manage expectations and avoid potential claim rejections in the future.
@@kirubag thanks for this detailed reply. Won't be it a doubt for new insurer that I didn't disclose my ped to the previous insurer? Should I take the new policy by disclosing my ped or should I port ? And which company is best in terms of giving claims and good service?
I'm not affiliated with the medical insurance field, but I recommend reaching out to aggregators like PolicyBazaar or Ditto for assistance. Personally, I've had a positive experience with Even healthcare. They offer a one-year waiting period for pre-existing diseases and no waiting period for all other illnesses. They also provide options for OPD coverage and various medical tests such as blood tests, X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, etc. I recently made a successful claim for dengue worth ₹50,000, and the process was seamless.
I don't know if it was hidden intentionally. But similar issue I had recently. My father bought a family floater plan in March 2021 and forgot to mention about his Kidney Stone surgery which was done back in 2014. At the time of renewal I just casually asked the agent about any PEDs we have in policy and asked him to add this surgery. Then within 4-5 working days the company added Urolithiasis in the PED. (Niva Bupa)

They call themselves as care medical isurance but doesn't care to cover india's 2 nd greatest hospital for orthopedic like ganga . How come a insurance company is best when it doesn't cover all best hospitals throughout india
He said "Care" don't discriminate... But truth is Care doesn't issue policy if one is having any Pre Existing Diseases and he discloses it in proposal form. Care's actual intention is one with PED shouldn't disclose about it in proposal form so that they will issue the policy, get the premium & reject the claim.
While declaring PEDs should we also declare pregency (normal delivery) and Gestational BP during pregnancy (& recovered later). Should we also declare the newborn jaundice (which is quite common among babies) in PEDs????
Normal pregnancy is something which need not be declared. But Gestational BP and newborn Jaundice is something better to be declared. Since these are minor conditions it usually should'nt impact the issuance but it's better to declare them to be on the safer side during claims.
@@dittoinsurance incase, if we had purchased an insuranse without disclosing these, is there a way where we can go back and negotiate and add waiting period to those illness or can we port the policy to a different insurer and mention these while porting or is ditching the existing and buying a new policy is the solution to this??

Hello mam , I am NITHIN (27) , back in 2018 I was diagnosed with T-cell leukaemia (cancer), and my treatment was completed in 2020 (including tablets). Now (2024) I am cancer free for more than three years and now I am planning to by health insurance , SHOULD I MENTION PRE-EXISTING CONDITION ? Will I be insured.
Hi Nithin. Great to hear that you are cancer-free! You definitely have to declare it as it is a pre-existing condition even though it is now cured. Since you have been cancer free for more than 3 years now you are eligible for applying health insurance. But unfortunately, you won't be able to go with comprehensive options because of your previous cancer history.

Nothing is incorrect. Better you correct yourself. Tell where is mentioned in policy wordings that in optima secure modern treatment is covered..It is not at all covered. hence no value of this plan for future where everything will be done by modern treatment.
Modern treatments are covered in all policies as outlined by IRDAI. Here is the exact wording from the "Standardization Guidelines". Here is the excerpt To ensure that the policyholders are not denied availability of health insurance coverage to Modern Treatment Methods Insurers shall ensure that the followingtreatment procedures shall not be excluded in the health insurance policycontracts. These Procedures shall be covered (wherever medically indicated)either as in-patient or as part of domiciliary hospitalization or as day care treatment in a hospital.

@@sunilagrawal1844 I just spoke to HDFC Ergo and they confirmed on record that they cover modern treatments. To find the IRDAI guidelines, you can Google "Guidelines on Standardization of Exclusions in Health Insurance Contracts". And search Modern treatments.
At the time of cashless claim settlement they will reject the claim for modern treatment as it's not mentioned in policy clause/wordings. That time patient can not ask them that some executive confirmed it on telephone. As for as IRDA guidelines are concerned they will say go to court. Otherwise they would have mentioned in their policy wordings like most of other health insurance companies have mentioned in their policy wordings very clearly.
@@sunilagrawal1844They cannot do this. If they have to deny a claim, then they have to explicitly mention as an exclusion. Otherwise the default position is that it is covered. This is how health insurance works.
