    Using Web Components (Custom Elements + Shadow DOM) as the contract boundary between microfrontends could be really interesting

      Web components could be an interesting solution but brings on the table other organisational issues, as we described in the talk, it’s always a trade off on what you need to achieve

    Brilliant presentation you guys!

    So in the end you reinvented the idea of a "multi-page application". Why bother calling it a micro-frontend?

      in reality, we did way more than that if you are interested in going deeper I'd suggest the posts I made on Medium: medium.com/@lucamezzalira

      @@My50c thanks for replying. Your third post (medium.com/dazn-tech/orchestrating-micro-frontends-a5d2674cbf33) seems to be the most relevant, but I feel like it is missing a critical discussion of why server-side routing wasn't good enough, considering it is by far the simpler option. It seems to me that all of the constraints you wanted are things you get for free with server-side routing.

       Jacob Raihle A multi-page app is old. They are talking about a new thing that comes after SPA :) . Think forward by about a decade and yep.... there you go....you landed.

      @Reashu Před 4 lety

      @@PeterHeard I don't understand what you are saying. A multi-page application is a multi-page application, whether it is old or new. A product or idea is not new just because the salesman says it is - nor would it necessarily be good just because it is new.
      I am very interested in composing websites from mixed components and "the next thing after SPA", which is exactly why I was so disappointed with the limited scope of this video.

    Hi @lucas, great video. Is there a way I can see what the code for the bootstrap looks like? I am interested to know how the bootstrap takes care of client routing, i.e. mounting and unmounting apps according to their routes.

      Hey Jo, I've got bad news and good news. The bad news is that Bootstrap source code is not open source at the moment unfortunately. The good news is that I created a small course on how to build your own "bootstrap" → www.manning.com/liveproject/building-micro-frontends-with-a-team-based-vertical-architecture so you can definitely follow that if you want to learn more

      Max created a training regarding what we discussed in this video and you can see the code of the app shell in there: www.manning.com/liveproject/building-micro-frontends-with-a-team-based-vertical-architecture
