    I am NEW to video, so please don't destroy my recording :-)
    Panasonic HC-VX870K vs. Sony HDR-CX405 Daylight & Low-light side-by-side comparison.
    I have a Sony HDR-CX405 that I use for product videos, unboxing videos, etc (I'm a Photographer). I am marginally happy with it as it does produce nice videos in proper lighting, but it does not fair well in low light....too much noise (grain) for my needs.
    I am going to keep it as a backup/2nd camera when I start creating my Filminutes, but for now, I am sold on the Panasonic HC-VX870K.
    As I expected (and some of you may have already known), I see a huge difference in the Panasonic over the Sony. Again, I do like the Sony and will continue using it alongside my Panasonic, but overall, I think the Panasonic gets the win.
    I am not doing this to bash the Sony...I am a Sony fan, and some of you may find it perfect for your needs...especially price wise...but for my professional video needs, I needed a bit more.
    Hopefully my video gave you what you may have been looking for, and I hope I was able to help you make a decision.
    I look forward to hearing from you.

      Absolutely true! The Sony was my first camcorder purchase in years, and I fell for the okie-doke and bought into the hype, instead of the actual camera features.

    The Sony looks surprisingly good despite its tiny sensor. It's not a surprise that Panny beat Sony out of the park with a much bigger sensor. Bigger sensors tend to capture more light and have better dynamic range. The 1/2.3 sensor can be found in prosumer cameras
    I'd take the Panny for the mic jack

      I was honestly so disappointed in the Sony 405 that I sold it. I now use the Panasonic mainly as my B-Camera and my Canon G50 as my main...and I love them both. The ONLY issue I have with the Panasonic would be the manual controls. If I choose IRIS, I can control the aperture, but when I select shutter speed, it tends to override the IRIS I previously set.
      I have to set the shutter speed first, then the IRIS, which I don't have to do with my Canon G50.
      Maybe it's still user-error on my part, but it is a little annoying.

      I'd imagine any camcorder or DSLR that has wifi capabilities... or a port for a wifi dongle. That way, you can "go live" in your CZcams channel directly. You can even use your smartphone, depending upon the camera quality. There are lots of people who livestream on CZcams using their phones.

      @Ahm-Creative  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you for the kind words Darren, and I'm glad my video helped you.
      Yes, I did get a Canon G50 and just in case you haven't seen my latest review in bright sunlight, indoor low light and another trip down the Vegas strip at night, but I'll add the link at the bottom.
      As for the VX870K, I still have it and use it often. I mostly use it on my other channel (I have a just for fun cooking channel called I Really Can Cook) and it's great for me there...but don't judge it's performance based on that channel...I barely put any effort into lighting...but it serves me well....AND, I use it exclusively for my unboxing videos on this channel, BUT ONLY IN THE BEGINNING AND ACTUAL UNBOXING OVER THE DARK KITCHEN TABLE, then I switch to the G50 for the rest of the review.
      Why, because I find the G50 to be better in low light, better using studio lights and it seems to give me a more realistic recording of my skin, and background colors. Not that the 870 is bad in any way...I just feel the G50 is better.
      If I had never heard of the G50, I wouldn't have considered anything else, but when I did find it, I couldn't resist.
      So, ultimately, I use the G50 for my paid work, and the VX870K for all other purposes.

    $648 vs. $198, I really can't understand the point of this comparison.

      The point of the comparison was to see if the Sony lived up to all the hype, and aside from the obvious that the Panasonic SHOULD win hands down, there are a few folks commenting that the liked the Sony better...

      @@Ahm-Creative Interesting. May i ask what movie format was used with the Sony? XAVC or AVCHD? Thank you.

      @Ahm-Creative  Před 3 lety

      @@rinoldix I want to say it was XAVC... which I believe is the highest setting possible. And I had both cameras set to their "Scene" modes, to keep them as "equal" as possible.
      But, like you, I agree the Panasonic is way better... which is why I sold the Sony... but these were my first modern camcorders, and I read so much more positivity for the Sony, I didn't hesitate... but when matched up against the Panasonic, the Sony had to go... lol.
      Maybe it was me... user error, but I didn't feel the same excitement for the Sony that so many have had.

      @@Ahm-Creative I am not an expert but at first i was using AVCHD since the card i had then was SDHC which doesn't allow to record XAVC, but when I purchased an SDXC card and switched to XAVC...wow, the difference was amazing, specially in low light conditions...that's why I asked :)

      @@rinoldix you think my footage may have been taken in the wrong quality setting? I would have to find the footage when I have time, but I swear I had it at its highest quality... lol.
      I don't think the Sony is trash by no means, but even you go side by side with a 4K camera, you can usually easily see the difference.

    What a terrible comparison between a camera (panasonic at about $900) and a sony at about $200. Really? Of course the more expensive camera will get a better overall rating. Waste of time watching this one. In my opinion the Sony won hands down for offering a budget camera with great features for the price...

      Haha first you say it's a terrible comparison.....$900 to $200, then you say it was a waste of time, yet you watched it, then after all that, you chose the SONY!? C'mon brotha.... wrong decision for such an "obvious" difference.
