For sure Courtney, quality basics always make the best outfits. Within the last 2 years I've taken your advice and my fashion sense has improved drastically, my wardrobe and the outifits I wear on a regular basis look a whole lot better now.
I know you've mentioned this before in your videos on ideal colours to wear, but it really does ring true for everyone - *neutral colours* are a must (it's also proof that you don't have to confine yourself in wearing grey, black and navy all the time - you can actually wear colour). Colours such as black, grey, charcoal, white, navy, beige, brown, light blue, marine blue, olive green, khaki green and burgundy are failsafe options in creating great outfits. But of course bear in mind the season you'll be choosing the colours, lighter colours will work better in the spring/summer, conversely darker colours will work better in the autumn(fall)/winter.
I bought the Bleu De Chanel for spring based on Courtney 2021 fragrance video, fresh and woody, I can't wait till the weather improves, I took notes of these suggestions, I'll be hitting the shops ha ha

Great video Courtney. I normally take suggestions on style from influencers with a very VERY large grain of salt. However, I've gone down the rabbit hole a bit on things you recommend and I'm pretty happy with it! I've gotten a number of compliments(namely on smelling good) so appreciate all the work you put in for these lists. I did the fall wardrobe and got a lot of compliments, so I'm going to try this. I'm slowly reforming my wardrobe. And I like the recommendations. I learned that I don't have to get rid of everything, I can just switch out things already have for better options.

Chinos. I typically wear dark denim from September to April, so switching to a lighter fabric is nice.
Harrington Jacket
Suede shoes
Spring socks (fun colors. Usually solid)
#1 is my go-to.. not necessarily always an oxford but a button down with sleeves rolled and a watch. That look is a game changer that women love.

Maybe a better option than the basic Oxford cloth would be a pinpoint Oxford. It’s has a nicer hand, easier to iron, looks more polished with or without a jacket. Covers all the same bases as basic Oxford, but a finer finish and a bit more expensive. Usually comes in 80’s or 100’s count as opposed to basic Oxford 60 count. Better weight for summer. All in all, your suggestions are very good. Most men need lots of help dressing themself.

Here in Louisiana our seasons are as follows: Hades, Hot Fall, and Hotter Fall. I'm not sure when Spring is supposed to be. Good news is, most of the items you suggested are nearly year-round outfits for us! We have to pick very traditional winter clothes here because trendy Winter items will be out of favor before we can wear them twice.

I've never been a fashion guy, but I've been watching your videos for the last 6-7 months and have upgraded my wardrobe thanks to your advice! One thing I do still struggle with is finding colours beyond just black, white, and grey that compliment my asian complexion. I'm a fairly pale asian with the typical slight yellowish skin tones. Any advice?

I’m a heavy metal person so casually I’ll wear a metal T-shirt with an undamaged pair of jeans and skate shoes. But when going to an event I’ll smarten up, wearing a trench coat over a turtle neck shirt/sweater with smart shoes, meticulously colour coordinating my outfit.

Thanks for this. Joined the military out of college so I wear uniforms to work and workouts/sweats around the house, turned around one day and realized my wardrobe is full of clothes from college (that don’t fit well) at 29 😅. These suggestions are totally my style but didn’t know the names of these pieces and I wasn’t raised in a house that cared about such things & I’m taller so finding stuff on the shelf makes it harder than normal, I will upgrade piece by piece though! Check back in a few years 😂 wish I could hire someone to shop/style for me tbh just to get things that fit as a baseline

Hey Courtney what is your opinion on mixing scents on guys. For example I grow a beard and keep it trimmed but the cologne I use could smell the same as the beard products I buy or could they be different?

You just kicked off a firestorm of research into a 'spring' weather jacket for an upcoming trip to Austin and the Hill Country to check out the bluebonnets, etc...... There's rain predicted during my trip. I've been casually admiring a waxed canvas style jacket for a while. Wow! Maybe these were popular a few years ago IDK, but what a rabbit hole of information. I discovered several brands that I've never personally heard of that I'm sure I should have known about. The Yellowstone show featured several Filson jackets that are appealing. Tin Cloth Short Lined Cruiser Jacket was in consideration and I'm stunned I found a treasure trove of them locally. It took them 2 years to get this shipment in they said. I initially ordered a Flint and Tinder flannel lined waxed jacket, but I'm afraid those are made for guys much taller and slimmer than I am (like Teddy probably). The Filson is cut right for my body type, but I need to drop a few pounds to fit into a medium so the arms won't be so long. I ended up going with a Kuhl Outlaw that I was also stunned to see on hand locally. The large fits nicely and the arms aren't quite as long. The Kuhl is a cheaper product, but consequently doesn't have the adjustment buttons on the back of the jacket that would destroy the leather on the seats in my new car which works out in its favor for me. I'm guessing you would most likely recommend one of the British brands like Barbour or the Belstaff. Maybe that Rogue Territory Supply Jacket worn by James Bond. The Kuhl scratches the itch for now. I've got this new car with a cognac colored leather interior and I've been hoping to pick up a few things that sort of color coordinate. I'm sure that has to sound like a ridiculous motivation and I should confess to it publicly. Thanks for prompting me to go find something new for the trip. I hope I put a few things together to make it look nice... in the rain....
White under shirt- I still consider this a staple for the work place or an evening dinner. Does this still hold true or is this old school thinking for an early 50’s guy who still tries to dress well. An inexpensive everyday light fragrance I like to use is Versace Dreamer.

Living in the UK I like the opportunity that the seasons here give me to change up my fragrances. I'm currently wearing Bleu De Chanel. When/if we get some really hot days I'll swap it up for Acqua di Parma.

Hey Courtney, any recommendations on where to get a good knit polo? I had a navy knit polo that I really enjoyed until it (along with other luggage) was stolen on a recent trip and the company that made it went under a while back.
Best colored for Oxford cloth, button-down collared shirts, it’s called French blue, blue and white stripe, a burgundy and white stripe, pink, and sometimes you can find a cantaloupes color. I have all of these wear them regularly. As an attorney, I always wear a tie and it’s easy to become casual right after work with the sleeves rolled up. I always have my sleeves rolled up because I am in a wheelchair and I tear up the sleeves pushing the wheelchair.I live in the shirts they are formal and they are casual at the same time simply remove the next tie.
Regular quality fitted polo & linen short or long sleeve for either work well too.
Just bought 2 pairs of loafers. I got one in a Suede Cognac, and the other in a dark brown smooth leather.

Loved wearing the U.S. Marine Corps Blue Dress “Delta” uniform with a crisp, white Crewneck t-shirt. Khaki “Creighton” wool short sleeve “blouse.” Dark blue wool trousers, with 1 inch red stripe down the exterior of the trouser leg in remembrance of the officers, and NCOs, who died at Chapultepec. Light tan web belt with brass belt buckle. Black dress socks, with black patent leather shoes.
What is your advice on socks? Should we go sockless from spring to fall? If not, when should we wear socks, and what kind of socks should we wear? I’m a 63 yo recent widower and just want to look normal without looking 85 or pretending to be 25. Thanks for your content; I just found it today!

I prefer a Henley sweater., Particularly one that may have a pocket is the T-shirt. I like a slate gray, and I like to make a statement occasionally with a bright red. I’m a V-neck fellow, and if I can find a pocket I will pay extra for it. depending upon your climate, I think a good fitting moderate weight cotton tank top is also a good addition. I live in a portion of the country that gets extreme heat and humidity normally for anywhere from 10 to 90 days out of the summer season. And having this tank top to wear when it is extremely hot and humid, and you are going to be outside is a must in those types of climates.
