People say this game is supposed to be hard on purpose cause it’s a good challenging game LMAO. Yeah shitty programmed AI surely makes it better. At least Underground 2 is not this bad.

I remember using a trainer to accelerate my car to something ungodly like 663 mph only to see a Volkswagen Beetle casually overtake me on a corner running a perfect line. Just a 680 mph Beetle passing by, no biggie.
I remember playing Most Wanted and going flat out in a lambo fully upgraded going 300+ km/h and police passing me to cut me off like I was driving the speed limit through a school zone.
Yea even NFS Heat does it I was in a Agera going top speed on the highway and I think it was a fucking Corvette that caught, passed me, and brake checked me.
What's worse is the fact that the RX-7 is the easiest car to reach high speeds in the game, so when AI rubberbands, you don't even know what to do next.
Me with my mx5, pit maneuvering any Subaru or rx7 that crosses my path. Although i felt rubber banding in pc is a bit less prominent compared to consoles.
Ya'll are just bad. I've beaten this game on the highest difficulty with a Honda Civic multiple times. If you are able to put consistent lap times in, AI rubberbanding literally doesn't matter.

i must have been a legend at the age of 7-9 yrs old when i played need for speed then since i always won by a lap or without trouble or anything even getting near me. then i did it here again recently and even on easy it took me atleast 20-50 trys each race to get that lucky race where i make them spin out everytime they tried to overtake me like jesus christ.
Fun fact about nfsu rubberbanding: Higher your CPU clock speed, harder the game gets. Try playing it on an older pentium or celeron CPU, it still rubberbands but not as like the modern PC s.
hahaha basically NFS underground... this made the game soo frustrating many times but also challenging and therefor so much fun for me. i completed the the story at least 14 times on nintendo gamecube and like 2 or 3 times on pc many many years later. still one of my favorite nfs games

Yeah, I can vouch for this as its happened again on a recent playthrough. It seems to specifically happen with the Eddie's Posse tournament that has this track in it.
I read this in the comments section on another video, but apparently playing on PC the rubber band rate is controlled by CPU capacity, so if you’re gaming on a modern PC, particularly with some monster spec top shelf i9 you’ll find shit like this happening all the time, whereas playing on the older consoles or a dinosaur PC with some Pentium CPU negates the rubber banding, though prevents the use of mods that upscale the game. Not sure if it’s true or not. I’d hazard a guess the best way to play and make the game look good is through Dolphin Emulator for gamecube games and set it to the resolution of your choice.
