    Recent conversation with another trades person, and Milwaukee really seems to take trades people into consideration. When I started out, Milwaukee was only what plumbers and electricians used. Now I see more and more carpenters using their tools. The crew who taught me how to do all this all had Dewalt and is why I bought into it. But on a recent visit with them, they have all started buying Milwaukee. I guess battery powered pressure washer are more important.

    I am very happy with a tiny Aliexpress light which works with the DeWALT batteries. It was listed at 140 lumen and it seems actually meeting that spec. It is so small you dont need to worry about the size. It also works as a charger via the USB ports. The only downside is the on/off button. It got really dusty during grinding, now you van feel the dust in the button mechanism

      I've always been leery of using any non-Dewalt tool on a Dewalt battery. Dewalt batteries don't take well to over-draining. Dewalt brand tools are built with this in mind. I guess you could use cheap, non-OEM batteries with it though.

    There are 4 more Dewalt lights. There is a magnetic one (DCL044) which can attach to something like an electrical service panel. There is a hybrid worklight (DCL061) that
    gives you an extra outlet. There is also an automotive hood light (DCL045) that folds in half. Then there is the giant area jobsite light (DCL070) with tool connect
    and built-in charger.

    Excellent, balanced review. I have the DEWALT 500/250 and the tripod light that saved my bacon while remodeling the kitchen and dining room of my 120 year old house. Let’s hear it for darkened, coal soot stained framing lumber! I was not aware of the many short comings of DEWALT vs. Milwaukee. However, I’m hip deep in 20 volt and Flexvolt yellow/black and at this point can’t see much benefit to mixing battery/charger platforms. Maybe if I take the dive into some battery powered trim guns but not right now. Any preferences in head lights? The bands always stretch out on mine.

    • @sathivv950
      @sathivv950 Před 2 lety

      Armytek wizard pro in the warm tint. Hands down the best headlamp with also the best head band. Light clips in and out of the band easy so you can use it as a handheld and strong magnet in the base.

  • @dougdiplacido2406

    I mounted a Coast HL8R rechargeable headlamp onto a hard hat. It has three brightness settings(800-245 and 50) and adjustable beam spread. Wherever you are working the light is there for you. At 125 bucks it is a pricey light but well worth it. On medium it lasts 60 hours to the battery will last all day if you need to use it that long.

      @sathivv950 Před 2 lety

      Check out the armytek wizard pro line or the zebra light style of headlamps. Runs on the 18650 cell and is a huge leap forward in light output and compactness and design. Smooth ultra wide beam is perfect for work. I really like the warm tint.

    I can’t justify spending 229.00 on a Dewalt tripod light. Just buy some Bosch laser level tripod stands for 49.00 each and mount some HD leds to them. Those tripods fold up into almost nothing. Some of the prices for these tools now are complete BS. But people keep buying them and the companies never bring inflated prices down because of it. Get creative. Save some money.

  • @ThisTall

    I had that dewalt 1500 lumen spot light, and when I switched from Yellow to Red 20v tools, that light is the tool I missed most. I never liked the big area lights nearly as much, and they’re always a distraction when in view, being able to see the light source. I would just put that 1500 lumen on a cabinet or something higher then eye level, and point it at the white painted ceiling. A large living room or kitchen could be sufficiently lit up for a guy with poor eye sight, and with no shadows.

    DeWalt does make a dual power light; I had a couple of them a few years back but got rid of them as they simply didn’t hold up. I don’t thing they even make them anymore.
    DCL061 is a 1,500 lumen 18V, 20V Max, and 120V AC multi-power light. I owned two and got rid of both as they weren’t built DeWalt sturdy and just didn’t work well for me.
    I actually converted some standing dual 500 watt homogeneous lights into battery lights with 18 watt LED flood lights and DeWalt battery adapter or charger; they work great can be pointed in different directions and you can turn on 1, 2, + as you need more light. I purchased the lights off Amazon and they can run 10V-40V DC and work great, better than any lights I’ve ever bought; I also wires in a 3 way switch and charger allowing me dual use 120V and charging the battery in the light and with a single flip of the switch operating the lights off the battery.

      @@InsiderCarpentry Nah man. You fold it and hang it on a cable where the cable is still sticking out before the electrical finish. You do more trim than me, but I've hung it on strapping if I'm doing steel stud soffits around plumbing and ductwork. If I'm trimming I hang my Makita lantern light on cables sticking through the ceiling. I don't have to move it around or adjust the angles. It illuminates the whole room. The DeWalt one looks better. That's like saying only mechanics use impact wrenches.

    I think {pretty sure} you can get an adapter type thing where as you can plug it into the mains and the power end has a male battery type terminal, must be a bit like the adapters to use one battery on another manufacturers drill etc, not quite legal and above board but a very useful set of items non the less ,ps...... , quality work as always m8

    Nice review, I totally agree with you on DeWalt's lack of innovating magnetics into their lights.
    I did a CZcams video on the DeWalt DCLO77 DeWalt task light as a Modification. Please check it out. I sure hope DeWalt does some updates soon. Thanks for your review 👍👍

    No mention of the color of the light? The 2000 and 3000 lumen have a softer color, and it just looks so much better indoors while working.

    Very mindboggling and disappointing that dewalt didn't integrate dual power into that 5k lumen dome light being that it's such a battery guzzler. I have the DCL061 work light. Has dual power and can daisy chain, and I got that back in 2018, has held up well. I think maybe the 2k lumen light in this video was it's replacement

I install water utilities so I am rough on stuff with water mud ice etc. and Milwaukee always gets the job done. But at home where I’m not working g as hard dewalt does me just fine
