    Robin...thanks for showing the documentation of your journey to Mt Washington. It gave me and three of my kids-16 & 2 x 13 yr olds- great pleasure to watch it from the comfort of a couch as we relived our recent hike up Lions Head Trail and back down Tuckerman Ravine. We completed this journey in the last week of July 2020 during the midst of COVID-19 so everyone was doing their best Lone Ranger impersonation on the summit virtue of wearing a mask...
    Thanks again!

    Was up in the Whites about a month ago. Your video and climb were spectacular. Thank you so much.
    Appreciated labeling the mountains and trails.
    That was one heck of a hike.

    Great hike , beautiful views. I hiked the same trail 3 months ago. You are very brave by doing it solo. Congratulations.

    Thank you for such an awesome video! Excellent quality. Great to see all of Lion Head Trail. We hiked Tuckerman Ravine Trail while engaged and I actually had a fever at the time that lasted a few days! Turned out to be UTI. We only hiked about a half hour longer beyond Tuckerman Ravine because of me. My husband has hiked Mt Washington several times while growing up.
    Again thanks again for putting together a great video and showing many views on the way to the summit!

    I just climbed the Tuckerman Ravine trail on Sunday ! This was my first climb, I can’t wait to get back to NH for more. We had perfect fall foliage and weather. Nice video man

    My husband and I did the same trail up 2 years ago! Thank you for the video as it's fun to relive everything.

    Nice job thanks. I hiked up Tuckerman's Ravine Trail, camped overnight and descended Lion's Head Trail. Loved every minute of it.

    Checked out your video before going. Clear picture of the trail. Thanks. Just got back from New Hampshire. went up Lions Head came down Tuckerman Ravine. I took 3:45 going up but I did stop and take pictures and spoke to a father and son, helped them take some pics plus I'm 50. lol. Coming down it was 4:15, I was taking it easy. I took 2 liters of water and was more than enough. I would caution anyone not used to hiking or out of shape to get some other trails in with a lot of boulders. The descent down Tuckerman was harder than the ascent up Lion's Head, for me anyway.

    Just did Lion Head two days ago. There was some detours due to rock slides and washed out paths. the detours tacked on an extra hr. we ended up having to go up tuckerman then hung a right at the cabin then connected to Lion head. If you start later in the day don't for get a head lamp for the treck down. Im glad I hit the stair master for the past month. lol

    How does this trail compare to Jewell trail? My wife and I are planning to hike Washington with our dog and want to choose the best route for safety.

    Isn’t there a decent trail up there? This looks perfect for snakes.

    • @GreatAmericanHikes
      @GreatAmericanHikes  Před rokem

      Nope, there are only indecent trails and I died by snake bite on my ascent :(

  • @roxannegordon6162
    @roxannegordon6162 Před 7 lety +1

    For future trips, can the camera move up just a bit? All we are seeing is a very close shot of the rock pile with out a perspective; like; where are you? Is it steep? It must be since you are using your hands. I sure did when I did this. without the perspective it's hard to know what's going on.

    • @GreatAmericanHikes
      @GreatAmericanHikes  Před 7 lety

      Yeah I wasn't happy with the angle either. This was a trial run of the rig I built. I adjusted and reconfigured things for the future. Speaking of which, a Franconia Ridge video is coming soon. ;)

    • @davidadcock4279
      @davidadcock4279 Před 2 měsíci

      The angle was a little off but was better Than most videos. Most people are bent over and the go pros are pointed downward mostly so you never get a perspective of distance, how high or steep the trail is or depth perception. I was able to get a better view and understanding of how level or steep the trail was with your video. Although I imagine hiking it will give me the best feel. Good job!

    Hey great video man, you have a new subscriber! Is this a good first trail up Mount Washington? I’m not so worried about myself (Avid hiker and rock climber) as I’am my nephew. Is there a lot of scrambling?

    • @GreatAmericanHikes
      @GreatAmericanHikes  Před 5 lety +1

      Romulo Rubio there’s a fair amount of scrambling. Nothing too crazy I would say but I definitely wouldn’t recommend the hike for kids maybe under 10?

    • @Randomstlhero
      @Randomstlhero Před 5 lety

      Robin Hikes Thanks for the info. I think I’ll take him in the Crawford Path, longer, but I’m not worried about his endurance on that trail.

    My son, 18, wanted to hike up with me but no way, I am outta shape. So I have him looking into a guided hike. Any good companies that you reccomend? He is going alone with a guide. One company that I saw charged $250. My son is lean and fit but has NEVER hiked. What trail do you reccomend?

    Thanks for posting. Can you tell us how long it took you?

    • @GreatAmericanHikes
      @GreatAmericanHikes  Před 8 lety +1

      3 hours to the top (could of been faster if I packed less). About the same amount of time coming down but I took the scenic way back. It shouldn't take nearly that long.

    Did you encounter any snow on the trail?

    • @GreatAmericanHikes
      @GreatAmericanHikes  Před 4 lety

      No snow on the ground. It did snow briefly while I was above treeline though. Temperatures were maybe in the 50s so it was pretty strange.

  • @ganmaxmo1
    @ganmaxmo1 Před 5 lety

    I climbed the lions head before and that was difficult. Is the Tuckerman better for beginners?

    • @GreatAmericanHikes
      @GreatAmericanHikes  Před 5 lety

      Haven't done Tuckerman's so I wouldn't really know but I'd guess they're rather similar in difficulty.

    • @Inkdraft
      @Inkdraft Před 5 lety +1

      There's some scrambling on Tuckerman's (but nothin' you need ropes for LOL) Tuckerman's DOES get narrow in places and it's a very long drop. Pay attention and stay off it in the dark. Most (not all) of the accidents happen when people keep trying to climb or descend when it starts to get dark. They miscalculate their climbing time and it starts to get dark and they use poor judgement and keep going. Dress properly. Right now it's a Sunday morning the last day of June. It's 9:18 in the morning and it's 65 degrees here and I'm only a couple of hours from Mt. Washington and it's 40 degrees on the summit. Mt Washington is the second coldest place on earth after the South Pole. I was up there on a Columbus Day weekend and it was 20 below at night and the wind was 90 miles an hour.

    would this be the best trail to go up on?

    • @GreatAmericanHikes
      @GreatAmericanHikes  Před 6 lety

      It depends on what you want to experience. I wanted to be above treeline as much as possible which is why I took Lion Head. I'm planning to do Tuckerman's Ravine Trail this summer.
