Super odd that I'm here AND produced Richard's Burning Inside demo. Not what I expected to find on this deep dive of the place as a kid in the midwest I would find a George Brett glass from Taco Tico I still drink out of today!
My first job was in 1976 and was at Taco Tico and we STILL have one here in Lexington, (take it over Taco Bell any day.) Really don't recall the commercials tho.
@fluffydolly I remember there was a Taco Tico in Columbus, Indiana in the 70s. We used to stop there on the way to/from Ceraland. I don' t recall ever seeing commercials for Taco Tico, though.
There were 2 locations in Orlando. I loved the place in the mid 1970s but it came under stupid empty suits and they all closed down south. Found one in OK decades later but the were using the same lame salsa the others used. Walked out and never went back. Taco Casa in Tuscaloosa AL is VERY close to the original Taco Tico.
Taco Tico tasted great back when this commercial was made. I miss it. It is too bad they changed the taste and ruined it. If they were smart they would bring back the old taste before it is too late.

The guy in the kilt looks like the same guy that was in the Sandys Big Scott commercial
Back when Taco Tico was still good.
