I’ve been looking for this performance of “The best is yet to come” for the longest and this “isn’t it a shame” is probably my favorite performance of this song. She’s a little before my time but I don’t think she performed, “ isn’t it a shame” that often. I could be wrong but there isn’t many videos of live performances of this song by her solo. But I love me some mama Patti because one thing she going to do is sang when it comes to a live performance and not only that she ALWAYS KEEPS IT 💯… PERIOD!!🤣🤣
I’m soooooo happy there’s at least one on the budget quality video of her singing this song, it’s such a vibe not exactly quiet storm ☔️ but not exactly urban contemporary listening either , GW JR. And Patti are on this record 💿
I remember when this came out I kept the vhs from one of the local movie rental places back in the late 80's I had that damn tape till around 2010 glad I can see it all here. Silver and red lable....Look to the rainbow tour
Patty voice is so powerful them endorphins be pumping through her body she be getting high off her own voice, she got to roll on the floor damn! She needs to bottle that voice and sell it so the rest of us can get high. But I'm glad I get to hear it. I mean she could roll on the floor and still hold her notes No trembling or nothing that girl got some iron lungs. DAMN!
@jazjett I think her version was different from Patti's. I gotta search for her version. The writers behind this were the same ones who did "If Only You Knew" and "Shoot Him on Sight" for Patti.
It was this performance, that both vocally and theatrically set Patti apart from any other woman in popular music history. Yeah I said it!
No lies here. No one can touch Patti Labelle, not even my lifetime favorites.
ONE OF THE GREATEST SINGERS/PERFORMERS TO EVER LIVE

This was taped at the Schubert Theatre in Sept. 1984
