When I go get in bed I pick a story I haven’t heard I close my eyes and visualize vividly the words I hear and enjoy the mental picture formulated. I recommend this to everyone it keeps my mind sharp
I should try it!
I love to do that too. Usually fall asleep quickly, because of the soothing voice not because its boring lol. I'd recommend listening to audios for relaxing before sleep.
But not your grammar.

I knew that I couldn't be alone at that...😊
Greg Wagland your voice and enunciating skills are truly amazing a gift from the literary gods... salute
Thanks Maylay All Day. Kind of you!
Really helps me sleep at night - so much so it usually takes about 6 attempts to actually get to the end to hear the outcome. Exquisite elocution and delivery x
Me too lol.
Ha ha ha! Me too!
Me too ;)
I like the way you read, without trying to be overly dramatic or mysterious, you don't try to 'do the audiences job for them'.
Greg, you have an incredibly beautiful and elegant voice. I prefer your reading of these stories above others.
Thank you for offering these wonderful stories.
I love how you can just listen to this, instead of finding the books for a start. Then read it to yourself without going to dreamland... I mean listening to this is FREE! Who would dislike this channel?! Everyone who finds this should think, “Wow, I Really Have Struck Gold Here.”
I suspect it's got something to do with gold, Max ;-)
There is nothing on Earth that someone will not dislike.
GREAT - all these stories are not readily available - really enjoy them and having the stories on audio is great so that they can be heard anytime - the reader is excellent - thank you for all of these gifts - also love all the older authors - most people would not have access to these books otherwise
Just listened again, I’ll never tire of hearing you read these stories, Greg. Big thank you! 🀄️🀄️🀄️🀄️🀄️
My pleasure Ann!
I agree.... these readings are a gift from the Literature Gods
thanks for the free audio books
helps a lot
I love audiobooks but I am super picky about the voices. You, sir have done an AMAZING job! I am a huge SH fan and it’s like the stories are all new for me to enjoy over again!
Thanks for your kind comments, cruisepaige!
All the best.
Yes - but it's quite true! I care _immensely_ about voices and yours is lovely.
Your voice is the only thing that helps me sleep, thank you
Greg. Thank you so much I enjoy your clear , presentations Be Safe. And God bless.
Marvellous work and as always, Holmes is a delightful fellow.
Thank you so much for these stories. The narration is superb!
Glad you like them, Susan!
Just discovered these audios this year! What a blessing. Have read all the books now can listen to them and get a completely different view. The voice is perfect!
Glad you like them Jackie! Thank you for commenting. I enjoyed recording them!
Beautifully read many thanks
I cannot reasonably hope to impart to you the joyous effect these audio presentations have had upon a humble production designer. Without you, sir, my time spent hunched as the bell ringer of Hugo over my keyboard would have driven me into a state of depressive madness. Kudos to you!
Thought about changing jobs? Seriously, thanks for your comments.
Sherlock Holmes Stories Magpie Audio you’re amazing and making so many people happy!
I thank you for finding and making these audiobooks free, unlike other ones, this helps me a ton :)
I hope you know the hours of reprieve and enjoyment your recordings bring me. Thank you!

And subtly too!

Mystique 1250 I feel exactly the same way. Mind, I catch up w the story later on, if not the following morning (usually).

@@sherlock_holmes_magpie_audio I look forward to hearing every stories every night. I rarely have sleepless nights now.
I am 50 and when I was 6 I was given the Complete Sherlock Holmes that Chrstmas and had finished reading it from cover to cover and watching the old black and white Sherlock Holmes on the BBC. By the following Christmas I had read the whole book.
This reading is so well done it is like a trip down memory lane lane. Thanks
My pleasure!
These story’s are truly singular. Each of them more singular than the last.
Best ending ever!
Very good! Thank you.
Greg wagland is a great reader for this sort of story. I think he should have a go at ‘The 39 Steps’ as well.
Mr Conan Doyle would be proud.
Mr W, you are the goat, as the youngsters say.
Enjoyed this one immensely ❤
Ha! Cheers!
This is my favourite of the ITV Jeremy Brett adaptations, great visuals.
Must seek it out!
Brain fever strikes again

That David mention was in the back of my head there, and as soon as I heard the man's name was Henry, I knew the rest.
Thanks!
Have a good day sir :3
Ta very much.
❤the elocution 😊😊😊😊
I like to listen to these stories at night. But, can’t be so after one plays another one starts and I don’t want my phone on all night.
Can’t you change the settings? Not sure.
I listen to these,
I listen to the cooing of the birds,
I listen to the creaking axel of my car,
I listen to my yelling wife,
I listen to my yelling wife,
I listen to horrible news,
I listen to the coaxing of silent auctions
From hell,
I listen to the cooing of the birds,
I listen to these.

Nice!
Thanks.
Welcome!
Can somebody explain to me what this David story about the Bible is ?
It’s where King David assaulted Bathsheba and had her husband Uriah (one of his best soldiers) killed in battle. The story is told in the 11th and 12th chapters of Second Samuel. You can Google them; since the whole story won’t fit in the comment box.
Ah, The Crooked Man. It's a small wonder that vengeance can turn a man into a monster, especially if he's felt love at one time as well as betrayal.
i’m addictive
Love all these stories i am lonly ,this is saving my life
Good. Cheers Jerry 👍🏼
can you join and get other books you narate
great
❤
What you are doing is legendary. If u read a story in one video, can u do like an explanation in the following video of the same story?? That would be helpful and a lot of my friends want that too. We would all appreciate it. This I believe will help your channel out too.
Hi Nawaz,
Glad you are enjoying the channel.
Perhaps you can explain a little more what you mean when you say an explanation.
Look forward to hearing from you.
G
you doing a report for school i am sure.
I meant that after reading the story, if we get a summary of the story, it would be very helpful for a lot of schools where these stories are read. If u cannot do it, it is absolutely fine. I will still be subscribed and surely will continue to support this channel. Thank you Magpie audio. 😁
Nazeef Chowdhury He’s already doing a service to humanity. He read the story FOR YOU, you lazy prat. Don’t expect him to do your %#¥?!%# - ing homework, as well you little twerp!

From the title of this story I assumed it was about Boris Johnson

So what David was she referring to?
It’s a story from the Old Testament portion of the Christian Bible; Second Samuel chapters 11-12.

Lovely narration again, and a merciful lack, for the most part, of ACD's casual racisim, chauvanism and gender bias that mar many of these otherwise excellent stories for the modern ear. They, like we, are a product of their times, so allowances must be made.
Yes, the past is another country.
@@sherlock_holmes_magpie_audio and yet, the same, just a little less
Yeah true enough, though Victorian England has to be forgiven some of the faults which it had, considering that the time allowed child labour and enormous cruelty in general- I have to say, I was impressed by the conclusion of the yellow face- a way ahead of its time imo, really pleasant, I was worried near the end that it would've been different- I think that ACD sometimes expressed rather elegant and correct ideas, in a way that a deeply bigoted county could understand.
Never complain!
Going too far! Self righteous judgementalism may be what this period in history is noted for in later times. Allowances indeed!. Our universities have degenerated , though, and this sort of thing is demanded of graduates and employees so we must forgive the foolishness.
So sad a tale of the guy and his furry companion. . . 💦💦💦💦
