  • A quick fish on the upper section of the Yarra River. The dry fly fishing was slow but the nymph fishing made up for it by catching some lovely brown trout.

    I have found the Yarra tricky at times. The way you dissect it and your decision making make it look easy. Impressive!

    Another great video. I was there yesterday in the heat, 10 or so kms further up river. Sz 14 hopper pattern from Hurleys got a few takes, but as a novice didn't convert. I tried nymph under dry, but got terribly tangled, so tried nymph under NZ wool indicator without any interest. Frustrated, earlier today I investigated your guiding and I like the sound of your Euro nymphing group classes. Thanks for your videos, as a beginner they are teaching me a lot.

    Another great vid Tom.
    How often might you go back to a good fish (lost) at the end of a session? If so, what would your success rate be, and do you change tactics or go with what worked?
    I might be answering my own question, but my 2nd time round success rate is very low...

    Was browsing YT as this came up 😊. Been meaning to ask what are the fly patches you have been using lately? I see you have 2 on your chest in the intro.
    I don’t see them listed in your equipment list.
    Thanks again.

      They are from Spain, a friend’s sister makes them. Some will be coming to Aus to a couple of stores soon. You can also buy a similar one from my friends shop in France called Caleri Fly Fishing.
      Cheers,
      Tom

    Done any good back down at Woori Yallock, the section from the road bridge up into the reserve?

    Could you fish this on an indicator with a single nymph?

    • @tomjarmanfishing3208
      @tomjarmanfishing3208  Před 3 měsíci

      Yes you could, but the drifts wouldn’t be as good as having an indicator that isn’t on surface

      @@tomjarmanfishing3208 thanks, how do you use the indicator?
