The most amazing thing to me is your ability to wade that river! That was incredible the way you moved up and down in that current over structure and so forth. I have been in that river and know a bit about how strong the current is. My hat is off to you! Thanks for the great video.
Are you using a battenkill reel for euro line? Have you have any line problem on it?
Would I be able to use a bit of marabou for the wings instead of cdc? I have a hard time finding it in stock near me and don’t wanna have to buy online
You didn't mention that the majority of it is all private land that you need to gain permission.
OMG, just feel like I got my bait and lure fishing sorted just to hear this is a whole new world to discover!
Love the waters and beautiful wild fish. Wish you could pan a little more slowly on the flies that you are using while releasing or rigging. Always eager to see the flies in action! I’ve tried filming myself and without a full time cameraman it is tough but just a slow look at your rig whenever possible would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
That large brown…amazing! And you were so patient.
Fantastic video! Excited to see how such a simple little river into the sea yielded such a great result. Your step-by-step exploration up river was very educational. Good stuff, thanks Tom.
I had thought, watching a couple other videos of Yellowstone area fishing, that there weren't many fish better than say 12, 13 inches. I watched one guy who just refused to use nymphs only catch juvenile fish. But clearly, there's a significant number of serious size fish too. I had no idea, makes me want to visit there some day even more. I'd be happy chasing little trout but to know there's quite a lot of large cutties is encouraging stuff. Truly beautiful water and nature at it's finest. We can only wish we could make things so beautiful. But I simply love the chase of a big trout to avoid obstacles and what not, those are the most fun memories. You got 2 big ones in the net and had a great fight with another and lost another, you can't say that's a bad trip. For me, even if you lose one after a chase, it's so fun and worth it. But admittedly, it sure does punch you a little more when you do so much to land a fish only to lose it. But with success comes failure and that's why I try to just be glad even when I lose a beauty. It's part of fishing, you just will never land every fish.
Bro I live in gardiner. If you stick to the parks lakes the fish avg. About 20 inches.. biggest fish I've seen in the park was a 31" lake trout outta shoshone lake.. but fish the yellowstone lake. The fish avg about this size.. they cruise the shore post up anywhere witg structure and some depth. Aim for mid to late june.
Tom, Winter is here, and I want to tie some flies for next season. Any recommendation on size for your nymphs and dries?
Sans the CDC it's the forerunner of what we now call the Droz nymph. Almost a 'go to' for me. A marvellous fly. For the tail, I use three or four (synthetic) fibres from a 25mm architrave brush from Bunnings - works a treat and is as hardy as all get out.
Good on you bro
Thanks very much. I feel that you explained it well.
Fab vid mate!
Two, three or five tail fibres, it matters not. In all my days, I've yet to meet a trout that can count. 😉
watching you tom makes me feel utterly useless at fishing
I fished there a month ago , & got zilch!
yeah hes pretty special at catching them trout ;d if i had half is skill i would be happy
Thank you Tom. Another fine example of the conditions I struggle with. Great to see the fish are in such good condition, considering the low water.
Great session Tom! Was that straight after the comp?
Thanks mate. Yeah the Tuesday after
I watch these videos with my Spotters on but I still can’t see the fish
😅 we need GoPro to bring out a polarised lense
So nice mate! That river is still occupying 95% of my brain after the other day. Great vid.
😅😂
Great work Tom. Can’t believe how low the water is now. Thanks again.
Great video. Love the Autumn scenery and fishing.
*Promosm* 😬
Ahhh Tom another cracker. Publican here from Dartmouth... come up for a weekend all expenses on us. Dart Cup in a few weeks...
Love the videos! When fishing with dry on a dropper for the indicator and a nymph on the bottom, do you use mono or fluorocarbon tippet?
I'm guessing that 12 months on you don't respond to comments, however, I'm a hopeful kind of guy. If you do respond, thanks. Why did you use a dry fly hook for this? Firstly, it seems against convention and I can't see the benefit and secondly, it is a nightmare, for a hack like me, to get a slotted bead to sit squarely, if you know what I mean.
Really enjoy viewing your fishing videos, mate. Well done. Great catch on beautiful brown trout too.
Your decision making is exceptional. Autumn is challenging but such a beautiful time of year to fish. Well done. Great video.
Fantastic video, Tom! On one of my favourite rivers, but good grief, how low is it!
Nice one Tom. Not sure anybody has done a Vid on how to manage a fish, particularly a large fish on a fly rig. Ie when do get on the reel, when do you wait it out, do you stay up or downstream of the fish etc.
Omg it’s low!!!
Nice Tom, you ever bump into the odd cod fishing there?
Great session Tom! That brown in the middle was a fantastic fish. That must be further down on the Kiewa than I have fished, reminded me more of the lower Mitta....:)
Best time for me aswell, keep cracking on to them trout Tom, your videos are a pleasure to watch. Where about’s is that?
Yep, autumn!
Cracking brown Tom - bet you're glad you didn't drop that tippet size down!😂
Cracking fish Tom. Great vid as always. Thanks.
Which lake is this bro?
Do you get the mask hairs to stay on the thread??
Thanks Tom it was great sitting there watching you fish the water I picked a few habits that I'm not doing and what where you using as a sighter it looked like you painted it on at times
Hi Tom, I don't know if it's the camera angle or not but when you are Euro nymphing it appears you hook a good number of fish after your nymphs are past you. Are you catching them on the swing or does it just appear that way? Great job on the videos, I learning a lot watching you fish!
great job Tom know that spot well
Thanks again Tom. Love the videos. I think I've really improved my nymph game by watching you and a few others. All good to watch.
A true artist at work. Loving the vids!
Nice mate! New nymphing rod? 🧐
Nice work Tom. Keeping the thinking flexible, wins out again.
Good stuff mate!
Hey thanks Peachy!
Tom I know it likely depends on the water your fishing, but I notice you seem to have a preference for an 11’3 Nymphing rod over a 10’9. Would it be fair to say that’s because you find it more versatile?
Yeah I do, I go the longest rod I can get away with when it comes to nymphing, I feel it gives me more range and control
@@tomjarmanfishing3208 Thanks for the reply Tom, very much appreciated. And thanks for the quality content, I’ve really learnt plenty from your videos. They’re first class.
Great video Tom! Thanks again.
