Maybe she was semi ok at the time still, but perhaps overreaction and hypervigilance from Stacey unwittingly pushed Jean into more erratic behaviour, as she (to an extent, rightly) felt she was being restricted, controlled, lied to etc And to be fair, some of what Jean said during episodes was perfectly valid. Especially the paranoia about being poisoned because it HAS happened before. They should have acknowledged that instead of brushing it off and acting like she was making it up and that EVERYTHING she thinks and feels about what is going on around her is way off base, because it isn’t always, which makes it even more confusing to discern reality from delusion for Jean. I feel like invalidating mentally ill people on the occasion they actually DO have a point really sends them off the deep end, because it’s gaslighting in a way

It was a big mistake for Stacey bringing Jean home when she still needed help with her condition. Jean needs to be some place where she can be looked after and get better properly. I know she was taken hostage in that last place she was in, but I'm sure Jean can placed in a secure unit where no harm will come to her.

I really hate the attitude towards the disabled, where if we’re having issues with our health, mental and physical, the first thing people say is for us to be sectioned, put in a home or in hospital 😒
I'm getting pissed off with people on here saying that same thing as well. It's because Stacey has so much to deal with, but she shouldn't have brought Jean home, and left Lily to look after her. Im currently in hospital myself n it isnt a nice place to be, so i understand why jean doesnt want to be there. But getting lily to look after her is a big responsibility. When I was in hospital I was allowed to use my mobile but the phone charger was held by staff. When I needed to charge my phone the staff put it on charge for me. Nobody was allowed Internet access on the computers and computer time was limited to playing games like solitaire.
With bipolar disorder Trust can be a big issue. Jean probably feels anger towards Stacey and blames her for putting her in hospital because the way she sees it is that,if it wasn't for Stacey she would not have been put in the situation where she was bullied in the hospital. I agree that Jean should not have put Lily in the position of looking after her and yes it is unfair on Lily as she is still only a child. However, when you are ill you don't think of the consequences of your actions. She trusts Lily more and is reminded of how Stacey was as a child and sees a lot of the care and compassion that Stacey had when she was growing up. Jean, in my opinion is confusing that with the facts that Bipolar is hereditary and thinks that because Stacey has Bipolar that she sees the signs of it in Lily. My daughter calls it "Bipolar Logic". It just goes to show that Jean still has a long way to go before she is better because of how she processes information and interprets situations. Both of us have the disorder and the guilt that sets in as you recover from an episode and realise how your actions have affected those around you is enormous. I can definitely relate to this story line.

I think the show are depicting the harsh realities of how it affects family, friends and the person going through the illness. The arguments between family and friends as to what to do for the best. The guilt and helplessness felt by Stacey. Lily's worries that she will develop the disorder herself. There are so many dynamics covered by the show and personally I think they are doing a good job of portraying the illness. Yes it's depressing and boring for some but living with Bipolar Disorder is no picnic either. The show is highlighting just how bad it can get to generate more awareness. My daughter regularly watches the show with her fiance, who had difficulty in understanding how it can affect those around you. Both myself and my daughter have Bipolar. He understands more now and is still willing to accept what could happen, how to get the right support and what could happen in a worse case scenario. At first he was shocked and asked, "Can it really get that bad?" The answer was, "Yes it can!" I know to some it's just a soap but for others it's educational. It highlights what can go wrong when proper care plans are not put in place.

Gillian Wright hasn’t left indefinitely. She’s just on a break and her character per se’s staying with the Wendys (her neurotic friends) at the moment (she admitted herself to hospital shortly after these scenes but has since been discharged).

Everyone’s talking about how the scene where Lily washed Jeans hair mirrored Stacey doing the same back in 2005, but nobody is talking about the fact that this scene mirrors when Gray pushed Chantelle. I accept that Jean may not be as calculated as Gray, but to deny that she is every bit just as evil is making excuses for her.

I hate Jean for that. I know shouting at your face is wrong but we should know that pushing isn't a nice thing to do and Stacey doesn't deserve to get pushed. She blames Stacey for putting her through her bullying experience. When a person with Bipolar Disorder is placed in a hospital it can feel like they are being abandoned and they can feel unwanted and unloved by the person who put them there. When someone is that ill they don't listen to reasoning and logic because they don't think logically like a person would who doesn't have the disorder. I hope this explains things for you. If you want to know more let me know. Both my daughter and myself have Bipolar so I can see things from both sides.

Stacey is to blame, if parents instilled confidence and maturity into their kids, it wouldn't matter what people say to them! Insecurity comes from neglecting your kids!
I hate Jean for that. I know shouting at your face is wrong but we should know that pushing isn't a nice thing to do and Stacey doesn't deserve to get pushed. Stacey has rights to be angry with Jean for telling Lily that she has bipolar. I didn't exactly say I hate Jean, I'm just saying that I never like her recent behaviour and the way she treats Stacey. I know deep down that Jean loves her daughter but she doesn't know how to because of her bipolar. I really feel sorry for Stacey. I just hope she's fine in the couple of weeks later.

@@jetnight88 I know right. I don't blame Stacey for everything. I just hope Stacey will be okay because she is my favourite character and I don't like it when seeing Stacey suffering. She's been suffering for all her life. I don't know how exactly how Stacey can affect to Jean's bipolar in the first place. Can somebody please explain for me? cause I have learning disability. Let just hope that Jean learn her lesson and be a proper mother to Stacey and grandmother to her grand-kids.
@@caitlinsparkle7717 Jean feels anger towards Stacey for putting her in the hospital. The way Jean sees it is that if it wasn't for Stacey putting her in the hospital then she would not have been bullied in the hospital by another patient. She blames Stacey for putting her through her bullying experience. When a person with Bipolar Disorder is placed in a hospital it can feel like they are being abandoned and they can feel unwanted and unloved by the person who put them there. When someone is that ill they don't listen to reasoning and logic because they don't think logically like a person would who doesn't have the disorder. I hope this explains things for you. If you want to know more let me know. Both my daughter and myself have Bipolar so I can see things from both sides.
