This video is such a breath of fresh air from these "in a minute I will tell you" come-ons that go on forever and then tell you very little
I have taken this medication for a few years and thankfully I have not had any issues.
I have been taking lisonpril for 10 years to help my high blood pressure. I take a very low dose once a day and my blood pressure is normal now. I have never had any side effects from the pill. I guess I am just lucky!! Thanks for the video!!
Same here. Stopped after seeing videos, blood pressure zoomed high. Went back on & pressure back to good. Am taking zinc daily, but have Dr. appt in two weeks to review everything. At 74 don't need anything that may adversely affect me. You take care!!
I’ve experienced the dry hacking coughs! People during the time of COVID thought I was sick. The doctor took me off the medication immediately!
Lisinopril and banana's don't mix and it gives headache's. I had my doctor take me off. I'VE lost 55 pounds hope to get of meds totally. 🙏🏾
This just popped up on my feed. Love the way he gets right to the point, kept it simple, and non hyped....just facts and what to look for. I'm a subscriber now👍
Thanks for sharing Eric. Elle, since you liked this video, you will get value from this video czcams.com/video/br7JSukDwDQ/video.html
@@pharmclare This video popped up on me also. I just started this med a week ago after having a mini stroke.10 mg a day. I'll keep this in mind hen I see my doctor the next time. THX!!
If you have weight loss and personality changes don't assume the potassium issues and cough are related to Lispriosol.
My husband had the issues listed above and some anemia.
Doctors suspected Dementia because he was 73 years old.
He went to the ER because his cough was worse at the end of June and he was weak and vomiting. He was diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia. Additionally he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer of the lungs and lymph nodes, esophagus, liver, kidneys and brain. He went on Hospice in early July and died 3 weeks later. I am still in shock.
🙏✝️💐God bless you. So sorry for your loss. 💐
WoW! I've been having the dry, very annoying cough! I started on Lisinopril about 2 months ago...and have been having this cough! I'm talking to my Dr. Now!
This video is great. I usually dont watch these kind of videos, because they just go on and on and on....before they FINALLY say something useful. This one just gets right to the point! I'm a Subscriber now!
I take 10mg a day and have no side effects. Thank you for your input on this subject. I now know what to look for.
I am on 2.5 mg a day so far no side effects
I’ve been taking Lisinopril for years now and have never had a problem with it!👍🏻
I was on Lisinopril for ten years. Out of the blue, I woke up one morning thinking I was getting a sore throat. I looked in the mirror and could actually see my tongue starting to swell. I was life-flighted to a good hospital. I am totally unconscious. They put a tube in my throat and put me in a coma for three days, until the swelling went down. It was very traumatizing. I looked it up and they have been trying to get it off the market. The doctor told me that it was very "touch and go". It was horrible.
i had a bad stroke caused by lisinopril. was told by doctors while in the hospital from the stroke I should never have been prescribed it. I've met a lot of people who also had a stroke or know someone that had one or more because of lisinopril. it happens within the first 7-10 days of taking it. i was 42 and can no longer work. can't do simple math. can't read much. can't count higher than 10 when counting out loud. can't read outloud. can't stand for more that about 5 minutes. can't do a lot of things. this video is a puff piece. tell ALL the facts.
You need to learn all.the facts lisinopril by its self didn't cause your illness maybe Dr covering his ass
I had been taking this medication for almost 11 years until one morning when I got up with my tongue completely swollen and couldn't even talk well at all. Luckily my daughter rushed me to the emergency room at the hospital. The very first question the doctor asked was, "Do you take Lisinopril?" I told him that I had been on it for a long time, but he said that did not matter. Reactions could take place at any times. Fortunately, it didn't affect my ability to breathe. However, from that time on, I have not taken it at all.
I had the identical situation about 6 months ago. Spent weekend in hospital. Am no longer taking Lisinopril.
I developed the dry cough within a week. Since I quit smoking I thought that it was my lungs still clearing out. Months later I still have the annoying cough. Thanks to this video I will be calling my doctor about switching my medicine or prescribing me an iron regime.
I take 10mg every day and I have no side effects and controls my blood pressure great 👍
I had a doctor (who was a quack) that changed my long-time amlodipine to lisinopril. I was a mess. I had constant heart palpitations and I could hardly walk I was so dizzy. Even sitting on the couch, the room would spin. I've always kept track of my BP at home and my BP shot up to 190/105!! I tried to tell him that it was not for me and I thought it was doing more harm than good, but he said, "My mother took it for 50 years and it worked for her." I stopped taking it after 3 months and went back to amlodipine and felt much better. I now list lisinopril as an allergy on my medical records.....and I got a different doctor.
I take both amlodipine and lisinopril every day - not one side effect, absolutely nothing.
@Angela Lee I take both also and have had one hell of a cough for 5 years 😂 been wondering why.
i took my bp 3 times a day for a week, noticed my pulse was low at times amlodipine is one that can cause that and have to get a pacemaker, i stopped it.
I had fairly high BP and my Doctor started me on 5mg lisinopril. My BP went down much more than I expected on a low dose and sometimes I experienced dizziness. Checking my BP I could see that it was often low. With exercise I dropped my lisinopril to 2.5 QD (half tab) and check my BP. It seems to be working okay for now.
I had the "Lisinopril cough" for a year, to the point that I thought I had lung cancer. Doctor put me on cough meds. I was talking to a friend long distance, and he said "you take Lisinopril, don't you"? I was shocked. My friend diagnosed the problem and my doctor was clueless. Dad was right, a doctor will kill you.
Exactly the reason I quit Lisinopril… I was coughing so much I had a constant sore throat.
I split my 20 mg pill in half and voila'
Is Lisinopril Zestril?
@@maried5085 Check videos on Lisinopril and ask presenting doctors who can answer your question. My only complain was a dry cough. I split the pills in half and it works for me but you should ask doctors.
I stopped it after 1 year. The cough was so persistent I could not sleep.
@@ameliaerin1544 I had my tonsils removed when I was 3 years old; local anesthesia; I'm 85 and still remember the dr. face and the scissor-like instrument used! I was promised I could eat ice cream for 1 week!
I was on Lisinopril for years and developed a dry cough so bad that I would go into uncontrollable coughing spasms to the point of losing control of my bladder. This was particularly embarrassing at work as I was an elementary school teacher and it happened in front of the class one day. Fortunately it was just before lunch and my mom was available to bring a change of pants.
I went to a doctor who knew I was on this medication but diagnosed me with asthma. A few years later I moved to another state and didn't have health care for about a month and had run out of the Lisinopril and I soon noticed that my cough had gone away. I just thought it was because our air was cleaner. When I finally got health care I asked for a refill for my inhaler. The doctor listened to my lungs and told me I didn't have asthma. He also thought I should go on HBP meds. I told him I had been taking Lisinopril then he told me that was probably the source of my cough. I had no idea and I had been taking it and coughing for years.
I am glad you found thr source of your discomfort. I am a dialysis patient who was taking licenopril. My blood pressure fluctuated and my pulse rate increased. Since I stopped the drug my pulse rate was normal.
I went to my health care provider 3 times and complained about blood in my urine. They took blood tests and they said the results were normal. Three months later I went for a second opinion and was told that my kidneys were shutting down.
Now, I am on dialysis and on the transplant list.
Today you must be proactive with your health care. You must get a second opinion and research every medicine that your doctor prescribes.
Did you have missed periods?
Omg
Thanks for sharing this with all. I took am having coughing episodes and my Dr put me on an inhaler, which I don't think will help. Another Dr said I had asthma which I did as a baby, thought I outgrown it. Told me you don't. Also I have had lung surgery, I don't smoke, never have. So sharing your thoughts about this medicine has helped me know what I need to talk to my Dr about. Thank you!!
Oh it is worse then you think. Lisinopril is made with from a South American snake venom I believe the Fer De Lance. Small amounts but it is dangerous.
Amazed that so many folks were unaware of the coughing side effect. It's very common. Usually doctors warns you of the possibility when they prescribe. And pharmacists routinely mention it when you pick it up as a new prescription.
My doctor did not tell me this, and I have had it for almost a year and a half. First she doubled my dosage to 10, and then to 20, then she said my kidneys wer slowing down. I never had problems with my kidneys, so I quit taking it immediately without he knowing it. My kidney function came back to normal, I would not reccommend lisinipril to anybody!!
That dry cough kept me up for so many nights. I went to have blood drawn and the guy noticed it and asked me if I took it. I had no idea it was from that I thought it was allergies. I switched meds and been fine since!
I like this channel straight forward and to the point
im on telmisartan ..... before this med my blood work has been good BUT. .....my doc said eat NO Healthy foods on this med like fruits and vegetables as it will raise my potassium to deadly levels. so ive now went on to being forced to eat junk food after eating healthy food for the better part of my life. unreal. my life is ruined , can anyone confirm if i can no longer Eat Banana's? eat kale?, spinach? , salads? or drink milk? Plus other healthy things.
I used to take lisinopril and had to stop because I developed angeoedima and almost died. I was told to never take it again or it would kill me.
Thanks for the simple short overview.
I've been taking it for 25 years. No problems. Guess I feel lucky
Same
I’ve been taking it for years without any side effects and feel great and run 15 miles a week.
I have no side effects whatsoever - and it works well on my BP.
@@imdrrich Lucky for you, I have the dry cough the Doc is speaking of. Constantly sucking on lozenges. Will try iron supplement, see if that calms down the cough.
You are very lucky. I have been taking it since March and I feel like crap.
@@stevelopez372 I have the same problem! I am ordering Luden's on Amazon now, because I am taking so many due to coughing so much.
@@sheiladaniels9552 I had to use a few different medication‘s to get it just right but I know what you mean. I also found walking about a quarter mile a day helped.... what is your blood pressure without medication?
If you feel dizzy,, you can also have a heart block rythem where the top beats but the bottom is delayed.
Thanks, I’m subscribing. This was informative and straight to the point 👍
I had the cough - 24/7. No one warned me about it - not one word. I was coughing my damned head off. I found out online, stopped taking the stuff that day and told my doc I'd rather be dead. Didn't get any argument. Took a week for the cough to stop...
He did not give me one reason to stop taking it he actually gave me a reason to keep taking it
Wow, thank you. I was wondering about the dry cough I developed. Much appreciated. I will try the iron supplement .
Informative. Thank you for a great start as to watch out for.
I take lysinopril 10mg and am always thirsty and constipated
Not even sure how this came up in my feed but needed this so much. I've been taking Lisinopril for about a month and have had that nagging cough for just about as long. I also have noticed that I can't seem to sing like I normally do (I am a singer) and wonder if there isn't some sort of inflammation going on!?! Thanks you so much for the information in this video.
I've been taking for YEARS...have the cough too...just now finding out about this
Be careful. After 5 years on this med I had a very severe reaction . My throat and lips swelled so bad I could barely breath.
@@pamelag3095 I've been on for years upon years...it explains the cough and I am going to look into something different with doctor as these concerns are alarming to me. Thank you for sharing your experiences! ❤
When it was 1st prescribed for me, it included HZTZ which is a diuretic which can cause some dehydration. Dehydration can sometimes cause headaches, kidney problems, and possibly dry cough. I had my doctor remove it from my lisinopril.
@Jane Jaco I assume you're referring to lisinopril and not HZTZ?
I was taking it for a little over a year. I had a reaction to it. My hands first started tingling. Then the went numb. It turned into paralysis in my hands and feet. I couldn’t walk or feed myself. I discontinued it and all symptoms went away. Now, every now and then I have spells where I lose strength in my hands. Won’t take it again.
My former quack PCP took my BP during a coughing fit when I had pneumonia, so naturally my BP elevated, he then prescribes 20 mg of Lisinopril which was too much , whenever I was outside in the Sunshine I would almost black out, reduced to 5mg still same affect. Since then, lost 45 lbs, guess what no more BP pills or cholesterol pills they were trying to push on me! I believe the doctor is not thrilled that I don’t need his services as much as he’d like!!!😮
I was on this med then diagnosed with autonomic Neuropathy. Since I am a diabetic, it made sense.
Just popped up, but I really needed this.
I get the annoying dry cough but learned to live with it plus I get really sleepy certain times of the day where I need to take a power nap
Love watching your videos. I learn soo9 much.
Thanks for the info doctor.
Wow, I’m having the dry cough. Going to stop the lisinopril.
I've been taking this medication for about 2 months & experienced coughing also. I thought it was allergies so I've been taking allergy meds along with cough drops. I use to wake up out of my sleep with the coughing & kept the drops by my bed, & fall back asleep with them in my mouth.(glad I didn't choke) No wonder the allergy meds weren't working.😳 Thank You So Much For This Video!!👍
OTC Allergy meds raise blood pressure except Zertic, which makes you drowsey !!!!!!!!!
@@elainegoad9777 Thank you for the much needed info.👍😀
Great info....thanks
Tinnitus was a big issue for me . 90% of it went away after test quitting it for 3 weeks.
This video is extremely helpful
Thank you for this information
It gives a sore throat too with that dry cough. Definitely something to watch out for.
This was very helpful.❤😊
So many experts its amazing they go to drs when all they need to do is use a mirror and tell.them selves what the problem is and how to fix it
I take 20 mg lisinopril for a good 5 yrs now, occasionally i’ll have a dizzy spell maybe once in 3 months.
I get a dry cough once in a while ,almost like a bronchitis,my wife looks at me like ,you ok ,now I can tell her it’s the linsinaprol . Thank you 😊
I had taken linsopril. It caused. Dry cough. Runny nose. Elevation in the potassium levels. I ended up in. The emergency. I had acute renal kidney failure. I well never take this medication again. It was horrible. Amlopine. Is jush as bad. Causes edema. In the legs n feet n ankles. It's all. Has bad. Side effects.
Man! I'm glad I watched this video and read the comments
I had to quit taking Lisinopril after being hospitalized and intubated for oral angioedema. That was fun (said no one ever).
Same thing happened to me. Drs in hospital concluded that it happened in combo with local anesthtic during oral surgery. In hisoital for 3 days.
My husband has taken for years without any issues. However my uncle was not so lucky. He passed away after going into anaphylactic shock after taking for 4 months. He was in his early 50,s. Very sad and sudden.
I took it for about 3 years then started to cough so bad I could hardly get a breath.
Great video dr I thank you !
I was on Lisinopril for over two years and went though hail! I had multiple symptoms including a cough that sounded like I was try to erp up a lung!
I had Gout and it made the symptoms worse and last longer! Do not take this medication 💊 if you have Gout! I went to five Doctors in that time frame.
It was the only drug I was taking, not one said, hey let’s stop the Lisinopril! I am almost back to “normal” now after being off Lisinopril for five months.
I had other symptoms but feel this was too long already. I WAS IN MISERY!
Good information
I just got put on 10mg today and glad I found this video
I was just talking about blood pressure and then this popped up on my CZcams they are listening
I had a horrible cough for about 6 months on it but after that I was fine.It works.
I've been on Lisinopril for 6 months and experiencing DIL- drug induced Lupus. Stopped the drug immediately and going to a Rheumatologist to get an Antigen test done.
Very enlightening advice, thank you! I’m on Lisinopril 10mg/Amlodipine and have tickly cough not terribly bothersome as when I was taking Benazepril/Amlodipine 10mg. Coughing was so bad I had to get off it…it gave me nice low bp numbers though. Thanks again, Annemarie Conrod.
Exactly what happened to me. Was on Lisinopril for years but just in the last 2 had an almost constant dry hack. Even my gp didn’t match it up. I started looking my symptom online and finally asked if we could switch! It’s been over3 months but the cough is finally gone! Yay! Unfortunately, the new adds aren’t handling my htn as well so we’re changing meds every 2-3 months now😢🥴🙄
Been having a bad day cough at night. Thankyou so much for the Info.
thank you for the info
I'm glad to have watched this video, little did I know there were additional concerns above the cough. I switched from lisinopril after about a year of nagging cough that became so bad that I was coughing blood. I didn't know the kidney and pancreas cautions, so i'm glad that i'm no longer taking the med.
Issues with liver and pancreas are pretty rare, but the cough is definitely more common
Can you do a video on what drugs are dangerous for dialysis patients?
Hi Doctor, i have been on Lisinopril for about 6 months and do experience the 'dry cough' so will try the iron supplement, i also had the dry cough while taking Ramipril along with Metoprolol. I also do notice the airway issue so i will contact my Doctor, i have a check up scheduled soon so i will mention that to him then but i am glad i stumbled across you and this info. so i know where the throat issue is coming from.
Great info.
Same here, not sure how this came up in my feed, but very interesting info and subscribed.
I noticed some numbness and tingling when I started taking this med, my blood pressure didn't change they up my dose to 2 times a day the numbness really got bad at night while sleeping arms went so numb they hurt and I was laying on my back with my hands on my chest, and my blood pressure was still at the same levels as within the med, so I took myself off, so I guess it's time to go back to doctor and be a guinea pig for some different blood pressure meds
Thank you for the excellent and correct medical information concerning Lisinopril, I take it myself.
Please audio mix properly please, your intro and the break music is loud and blaring, having everybody reach for the volume.
Use compression techniques to normalize the audio, so the speech volume is the same as the break music volume. Thank you.
I was one of the few, Lisinopril stated to drop my kidney function, I was down to 37% from normal function of >60%. A kidney doctor put my on amlodipine took a while but I am back up to 50 to 60 % kidney function.
Two weeks ago my blood pressure was 212/128 and I was taking extra blood pressure medicines. I changed my diet completely and this morning my blood pressure is 108/67 and I am completely off of blood pressure medicines. I can teach anybody to do the same. Stop eating all foods that convert to sugar and increase your intake of avocados, walnuts, hemp seed, and a high polyphenol count olive oil, eat lots of fish that is high in omega 3 oils, and green leafy vegetables. Also, take a high-fiber supplement that is pure like psyllium hulls. Do not take Metamucil as it does contain psyllium hulls, however, it also contains other ingredients that are really bad for your intake. The first week you will feel bloated from the high-fiber diet, however, that will pass and the high fiber will lower your cholesterol. Another benefit you will receive is your arthritis (which is only inflammation) will go away. High blood pressure can be completely controlled by diet. I hope this helps and good luck to you.
Does this happen after you stop taking it down the road? What about Imdur or Cozar? I have developed a dry cough with both of these.
After taking this for 10 years I developed a bad cough that wouldn't go away. My Cardiologist told me the cough can signify an allergy and/or a life threatening condition called Angioedema so he took me off it immediately!
I had the cauph and a headache . My vetranarian prescribed oxycodone. I stopped taking the Lisinopril got better and found a new doctor.
My side effect was increased blood pressure to 200/120. Thank God for my clonidine.
I was prescribed by my doctor for Lisinopril. My body did not put it out and it built up causing my blood pressure to drop far below normal. I drove myself to the nearby hospiral ER. They did a blood test and found a high level of Lisinopril.
I’m 23 and my doc just prescribed me this, I need to get my life changed around
did u take the medicine??
@@mohannadm5226 I honestly haven’t, I stopped vaping that day and I’ve been trying to be more health conscious when it comes to food. I don’t like meds as it is and all of the talk about people having strokes and stuff kind of put me off

Thank you do much!
I’m one of those who had a CHOKING COUGH after being prescribed L but as soon as it was replaced with another medication, voila! It was gone.
I have that cough. I take a lot of pills and they have me dizzy most days.
I'm on meds for blood (2) pressure and I'm always all over the map, from low to over 200. I keep asking to have those meds rotated to keep my body from getting use to them. There may be an underlying cause.
Thanks
I had 4 dry hacking years. Switched, and am so much better
Everyone having blood pressure issues should have their aldosterone, renin , AAnd R ratio and potassium monitored for Hyperaldosteronism. Fixing the high A could fix your high BP.
I'm taking Lisinopril and have been for several years it controls my BP really well. I do have a cough that comes and goes and I guess it could be caused by the Lisinopril? Watching this video really put the blood pressure control to the test. I had to turn the volume to 100% and still barely hear you talk then the illustrations would blow my ear drums.
Yes it's the lislnoprill I tryed it one time I try 5 different pills before I got one that was right for me .
I also have that cough too.
Thank you for an interesting video.
Very informative video!
Could you please make a video of the long term side effects of the covid vaccines & boosters?
I can’t seem to find any information on them?
🤷♂️
I'm soon to write a paper called trading one problem for another. Too often our prescription drugs do exactly that. I talked recently to a man who now needs a liver transplant because his diabetic medication destroyed his liver.
Aloha, thanks.
Thanks for the video Doctor! I'm on Lisinopril (40mg) and HCTZ (25mg) and I'm also on a low sodium-anti-inflammatory diet. Back in March some lab tests showed my Creatinine and BUN levels were high, the ironic thing was they were checking for potassium and magnesium because I was complaining about muscle cramps when I slept even though I'm on methocarbamol (500mg) and ropinirole (1.5mg). Well, my potassium and magnesium were fine and my Creatinine was high because I was eating a lot of lean protein on my diet at the time. I cut back on the protein and the scheduled new labs for September. On July 4th I went to the ER because I could barely walk. My left foot was swollen but it wasn't broken, x-rays confirmed that, it was just fluid build up, so I was given prednisone for 5 days and that fixed me up and no problems since. In June I had a CT scan that showed an enlarged liver with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. I had the new labs done last week and my creatinine was at the high end of the normal range but it was still in the normal range. My BUN level was still high but it was lower than it was in March. My CO2 was low and my Uric Acid level was high, which makes sense since acid can lower CO2 levels. The thing is, I eat mushrooms with every salad and I eat one or two salads a day and mushrooms, while high in fiber, are also high in uric acid, so I need to moderate them in my diet. As far as the rest of my labs, any other indication of kidney or liver failure or damage wasn't there. Hematocrit is normal, bilirubin, AST, ALT, Alkaline Phosphate, all normal. It was just the BUN, Uric acid and CO2 that were off. I'm also on two kinds of epilepsy meds, generic Keppra (750mg x 3) and generic Topamax (100mg x 2), and two kinds of sleeping pills, generic Ambien (5mg) and generic Remeron (30mg). Despite the sleeping pills and muscle relaxers I often have insomnia, and I understand the high uric acid is to blame for the muscle cramps. I bought a pillow that elevates my legs when I sleep and that helps with the leg cramps but I wake up with pain around the kidneys. I probably need a new mattress but I prefer sleeping on my side, unfortunately, I can't use the pillow for my legs when I sleep on my side and I wake up with wicked cramps in my legs and feet that require me to get up and walk around. One way or another I'm not getting quality sleep and that's one of my triggers for having seizures. Oh well, there are people worse off. Great channel!
Appreciate your detailed info on your medication history that may help me.
