  • This is the 9th installment of this mini-series, I'm thrilled to share with you a heads up on the latest developments coming to WordPress 6.3 & WooCommerce 8 blocks. We'll be diving into the experimental features for the Cart and Checkout templates, offering you a glimpse of the possibilities on the horizon.
As you may know, WooCommerce traditionally utilized shortcodes to add functionality to pages. However, with the power of Gutenberg blocks, we're now exploring a new, more flexible way to design and customize these essential pages.
Let's take a closer look at what's in store:
The Cart Template: We'll go through the process of converting the Cart template from shortcodes to blocks. Witness the cleaner, more modern design and the placeholders for an empty cart and related products, allowing users to continue browsing even with an empty cart.
The Checkout Template: Similar to the Cart, we'll convert the Checkout page to Gutenberg blocks, showcasing the experimental features currently under development. Explore the settings and get a feel for the enhanced customization options.
I must emphasize that these blocks are still in the early stages of development. While it's exciting to explore the possibilities, I recommend testing them in staging sites or local environments rather than production sites to avoid any potential issues.
To revert to the traditional shortcode-based templates, simply remove the blocks and re-insert the corresponding shortcodes. Ensure a smooth transition and avoid any disruptions for your live site.
In the video, we'll walk through the step-by-step process of converting and reverting back the templates, providing you with valuable insights into the future of WooCommerce blocks.
If you find this video helpful and informative, don't forget to give it a thumbs up and leave any questions or comments in the comment section below. Your feedback is invaluable as we continue to improve and refine these features.
