- Fluid Art Blooms: Australian Floetrol vs. US Floetrol vs. Amsterdam Paint vs. Wood Conditioner
Everyone asked for a video for the differences in floetrol and the different bases of cell activator. My favorite honestly is the paint and water by amsterdam. I am so glad i did this paint/art experiment to determine this. It now give me another experiment to do on a round board to see if large scale the amsterdam paint and water reacts the same. So much love to you all for the support. Happy painting!
The colors are a mixture of floetrol, gac800, and gloss medium and varnish 50/30/20% thats my regular pouring medium
original bloom technique: shelee art: www.sheleeart.com
Canvas is 4.25 in tiles
Floetrol US: mixed 1:1:25 paint to pouring medium
then i added 3 drops of wood conditioner to the US version
Floetrol Australia: mixed 1:1 paint to pouring medium
Amsterdam: 18 grams paint, 7 grams water

Hope you guys found this one useful! Just a raw video of the comparisons of the different cell activator ingredients. Maybe next year I will learn how to pronounce floetrol 🤣🤣🤣. As always, happy painting! ❤❤❤
MOLLY'S ARTISTRY looking to buy the last one you used Amsterdam I don’t know where to find it
@@cynthiaelder it was just a little tile! I didn't post it for sale!
MOLLY'S ARTISTRY No I need to know how to buy the product called Amsterdam that you use in place of flow trawl?
@@cynthiaelder no, amsterdam is a brand of paint
Oh ok just looking to get better cell results and of course order on line can you forward me your complete recipe ?
The Amsterdam & Water is awesome! Thank you so much for doing this experiment, you have made it affordable and have the same if not better then the Shelee technique. I truly appreciate all the experiments you have done for us, as many cannot afford to do these experiments, thank you Molly.
I'm not sure if I've misunderstood, but despite the cell activator now only needing to be Amsterdam plus water, don't you _still_ need all the mixing paraphernalia products, because you still have to create a Pouring Medium to dilute the paints before you even start? PM needs Floetrol, GAC800, gloss medium, varnish etc, yes...?
The cell activator bit is relatively tiny compared to the volume of PM needed for each pour.
As I say, it's possible I've missed something important en route here, but I'm relatively new to this, and still trying to understand it all! 🤗
13:59 Hi Molly, the Amsterdam white and water is just the cell activator and a process separate from thinning your paints for a pour? The thinning of the paint is done separately using what ever recipe one uses as a pouring medium, such as Floetrol, varnish, GAC 800or whatever a person uses to thin paint? Thank you for the lesson it’s easy to see what cell activator works best!
The Amsterdam paints and water was the prettiest by far. This is such a challenging technique. Thank you for sharing your talent ❤️💕. Stay well
Yes Molly! That was very very helpful who knew huh? 😀❤️👍
Thanks so much for this analysis. Believe it or not just today I was in my studio experimenting with additives to the American floetrol in order to get the same results as the Australian floetrol, because I can't in good conscience keep paying such exorbitant amounts for this bloom gold. The minwax is okay, but not exactly the same effect. Now the water and Amsterdam white?! Wow! I'm getting out of bed right now to go try it. Invaluable info!!! Thanks! ❤️
Love your talent and how helpful your are to your viewers. Keep up the lessons for us beginners.
Thank you Molly. Love that you teach us new pourers all you can.
This was incredibly helpful to see the side by side comparison! I've been reticent to try the bloom recipes I've seen because of the sheer numbers of specific ingredients required, so this video gives me hope!!!
Thank you Molly, I have been experimenting for a year and you solved my problem in 15 minutes!!!😉
so glad!
Wow, I think you just broke my brain. I would have never thought to try just the paint and water. I just spent a month convincing my husband to be ok with ordering the Australian floetrol, so I am very happy that you did this! You Rock!! Hope you are staying cool down there on the surface of the sun! Stay safe!
SO INFORMATIVE AND HELPFUL.
THANKS MOLLY!!
Definitely helpful!! Thank you so much for showing all 4!
The last two were my favorites and I really love the veining and cell action on them
This answered many questions I had - thank you for posting this experiment.
What a fabulous video! Thank you so much for taking the time to listen and do these for us to learn!
Amazing! Thanks for the tests!!!
So next experiment, it would be interesting to know the difference in results using Amsterdam and water, golden and water, Liquitex and water, house paint and water.
What if you did a experiment with tap water, boiled water, hot water and a weary expensive bottle water. Thanks again for your tutorial videos 🙏🏽🤗
Thank you 🙏🏼 I haven’t wanted to invest in this technique but now I can play! 💙
Super example. And all four are very interesting. Thanks
I love the 4th and 3rd pour. This was very informative. Thank you for posting.
This definitely was an awesome experiment Molly! Look how easy was for you to create cells, actually with all of them! I loved the Aussie mix and the last with Water & Amsterdam. I guess it doesn't matter how you mixed your paints since the cell activator was what created the Shelee Bloom! Fabulous! Thank you so much Molly! You're the bomb! 😁Keep well dear Molly! 🙏Love you, 😊Bunny🐇💗😍 P.S. They were beautiful...as usual!
I may have to start doing these again. This video is awesome-sauce!
I love 3 and 4. Those cells are beautiful and the colors that come out! Thanks for sharing and explaining!
Molly I’m so happy I found this tutorial! It was very helpful.
I love your work and I’m thank full for all your help.
Hi Molly & thanks for this tutorial. It took me several months to finally figure out that there are three different mixing methods & ratios per each painting.
-base pillow paint
-cell activator
-colored paints
That would be so helpful if you did a video on explaining which each one does what & how along with a precise recipes for each individual phase of the process. Just an idea that would be very helpful in separating those three components.
That would, indeed, be great.
Agreed ... Hail!
It took me many many months to finally get that as well!
Great demonstration, but confused on recipes.
Did you add titanium white to the 1st 2 demos?
I love the Australian flotrol one and the last one best. I love all the webbing and lacing. ❤ thanks for comparing them all, it really does help.
Thanks for sharing this!
Thanks Molly! I love the Amsterdam paint tile the best.
Thank you for all you share, Molly! Like you, I'm in love with the Amsterdam effects. Very interesting to see how they all differ. Take care! ❤
Thanks for the instructional video, as always Molly. I usually paint with the Rinske model of Amsterdam or W-N paints just mixed with water and/or with water and a little Floetrol. Have you tried all the paints mixed with your medium mixture vs mixed with water? Would be interested in a video that shows the differences.
Very interesting and thank you for including Australia. I wish we could get the same paints as you have in the US. Not surprising I will vote for the third one 🇦🇺👍🎨😊
Yeah .. me too; tried to be objective. I was really weirded out that American Floetrol and Australian Floetrol are so different.
Thank you, Molly, I like that you do this and it helps me decide what I want to get next.
Thanks Molly! Super helpful!
Thank you Molly!! It definitely shows the differences between them all - Do all know if all the Amsterdam paints react that way or just the white?.... thank you for all your clips - love watching them
That's a good question and one I was wondering about too.
You can try it. Doesn,t cost you much. Just make litle flowers and blow them out.
Great experiment! Will definitely try without the Aussie Floetrol because...$$$! The bleeding you mentioned is desirable though-the watercolor effect-it looks amazing dry!
Thank you Karen! Let me know what you find. I know you have the aussie, try with just the amsterdam amd water, keep it thick and let me know. I have no doubt you will.come up with something gorgeous as you always do!
Been testing too. Autralian Floetrol not being available, the ususal Floetrol being very expensive here in the Netherlands, the most logical choice for me was Amsterdam & water. Gave great results. Thanks for your experiments, Molly. Love watching you :-) Stay healthy!
the Shelly mix Australian floetrol with amsterdam titanium white so your getting a mix of 3 and 4
Awesome, informative demonstration. Thank you Molly!
Nice comparison. Thanks for doing it for us!
Thanks Molly!!! Now I can use up my hundreds of dollars of supplies and become a little more frugal... love 💕 that!! The first one has a snake 🐍 head in it!! Lol 😂
I’m so glad I found this video! I would love to try the bloom technique but when I saw the recipes some North American artists use because we don’t have Australian Floetrol my reaction was best summed up as 😳. I stopped taking notes about half way through their videos! My professional career was spent working in a lab. This is supposed to be a leisure retirement hobby not more lab work! Now I know I can give this a try without stressing about obtaining some 7 different ingredients! Thank you so much.
Thanks for doing this experiment - very different reactions with each combo. All 4 had something really nice about them!
Thank you for this Miss Molly!! It did help alot!
These all look great! Do you mix the paint and add floetrol on top or not
The paint in the ring pour is my regular medium. The white paint is just amsterdam white with each of the 4 types stirred in, ratios are below the video in the description. Just stirred in together
I'm glad you asked, cause from the video I was not aware that there was white paint involved, since Floetrol is white too.
@@ValeriePallaoro i explained it at the very beginning, its amsterdam white mixed in with each of the pouring mediums used. Sorry if that was confusing !
@@MOLLYSARTISTRY hi Molly ...please could you tell me if you use Amsterdam Titanium White or Amsterdam Zinc White with your mediums, specially for the water experiment . Many thanks in advance 😊
I'm going to give up my floetrol for water. Lol I'm going sober lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣
That's funny...I'm jumping on the wagon too! lol
Great teaching ! Loved the Amsterdam and water . Thank you
Thanks for the experiment! Loved the comparison. Last 2 were the best.
Thank you Molly for the great explanations on the "bloom" technique.
Molly, thank you sooo much for the comparison video for the bloom pours. Haven't tried them yet, but after watching your video I am anxious to try them. Sooo very helpful, thanks again.
Molly, thank you, great demonstration of the different techniques. The water mix is my favorite. I love the colors showing. 😊
I just wanted to say thank you for this video. I am probably much like everyone else who stumbled upon this art form and then fumbled for a month or so with recipes to make the ingredients react a certain way to produce the coveted cells, buying a bunch of stuff . Trying to find one recipe by sifting through all of the visual material available is time consuming and while every video I watched provided more ideas I just wanted a base point to start at, a constant, something to turn to when nothing I experimented with that day worked. Your video summed up the basics of how to repeatedly produce pouring medium and activator combo from fairly common ingredients that will do the same thing every time. I took the course after the fact but you were the little light bulb that initially went on in my head with your technique. Thank you
Thank you for this video! So helpful! Love that last one!
Thank you Molly !! Your videos are so educational and doing these comparison helps so much to decide which to buy. The amsterdam is also my favorite!!💕😍
Thank you Molly. That was most interesting.
Definitely helpful.think I’ll make coaster as Xmas gifts now👏🏻👏🏻
Wow! Cosmic! I got my paints. I got my canvases, blow dryer, torch, dollar store stuff, apron, puppy pads, and floor tarp. Everything but my medium. Well done Molly! You saved me ! You’ve given me a medium ! I love it! Thank you ! I’m ready to start painting. I have Amsterdam paints including white! WooHoo
This is just the cell activator though, isn't it? Rather than the medium used to dilute the paints, which we'd still need to get. Looking at Molly's description box, she's still using Floetrol, GAC800, gloss medium, and varnish in her Pouring Medium for all these examples, no? 🥴
Thank you for doing the comparisons!!!
Love your channel! Been really getting into pour painting and you and Olga Solby have been the perfect teachers for every step of the way! Your art is amazing btw! Thank you for sharing and always teaching and inspiring! 💜🖼
You are so welcome!
Totally agree! Olga and Molly are the best. Thank yo so much!
I definitely love the last 2... Thank you so much for sharing this video with us, and this is going to be very helpful when I purchase my paints... Blessings and be safe 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thank you so much Molly!! The Amsterdam and water worked perfectly!
#4 for the win! Love the tutorials, Molly. Thanks!

That was great info Molly ty so much for taking the and effort. Helps a lot ❤
Thanks, Molly, that was really helpful!! Appreciate your info sessions but really LOVE your paintings!!!❤️🌷
I have just been watching everyone with these blooms and haven't tried it. I love your Amsterdam solution!
Thanks for sharing and the last one was definitely best!
I love that you do these tests and show us beginners. Thank you so very much.
I'm from Australia so I'm a little parcial to our Floetrol, however I do like the Amsterdam one also.
Thank you for sharing, love learning something new 💕
My favorite is amsterdam & water!!! Amazing! Thanks for sharing your experiment! ❤️
I am brand new to this type of painting and this is probably one of the most informative videos I have found!! Thank you!
This HELPED me so much! I’m new to pour painting and I tried watching a few other videos about cell activators but your style sticks with me. I probably had a teacher like you, plus you HaVe the Product in front of each tile the whole time. 🤓💗🎨
Great info Molly...Thanks for doing this
WOW! Molly so helpful and would save bundles of money. Thanks so much for your info. and trying the different test!!!
I can't thank you enough. The Amsterdam paint works fantastic!! Thank you... thank you.

Hi Molly ... I watched you on Instagram and now here. Thank you soo much for doing this experiment. I do like the Australian Floe but honestly for the money I like your Amsterdam pour! What a shock! It looks great!
Very helpful, thank you so much!!
