  • Fluid Art Blooms: Australian Floetrol vs. US Floetrol vs. Amsterdam Paint vs. Wood Conditioner
Everyone asked for a video for the differences in floetrol and the different bases of cell activator. My favorite honestly is the paint and water by amsterdam. I am so glad i did this paint/art experiment to determine this. It now give me another experiment to do on a round board to see if large scale the amsterdam paint and water reacts the same. So much love to you all for the support. Happy painting!
The colors are a mixture of floetrol, gac800, and gloss medium and varnish 50/30/20% thats my regular pouring medium
original bloom technique: shelee art: www.sheleeart.com
    Canvas is 4.25 in tiles
Floetrol US: mixed 1:1:25 paint to pouring medium
then i added 3 drops of wood conditioner to the US version
Floetrol Australia: mixed 1:1 paint to pouring medium
Amsterdam: 18 grams paint, 7 grams water

I am so happy that I found acrylic pouring/fluid art a few years ago. It has helped me in so many ways and it just keeps getting better and better. This visual arts creative outlet has made me so happy. I am loving this abstract art! I hope to keep doing this for years to come! I have always been fascinated by modern and contemporary art. There is something about it that is so freeing and expressive. I love acrylic pouring because I get to experiment and really join the creative side of my brain with the scientific part! There are so many different fluid acrylic pouring techniques out there, so much more to try and have fun with. Make sure you are subscribed to my channel so that you may learn and be creative with me. I love hearing all of your comments. I'm not sure if I've misunderstood, but despite the cell activator now only needing to be Amsterdam plus water, don't you _still_ need all the mixing paraphernalia products, because you still have to create a Pouring Medium to dilute the paints before you even start? PM needs Floetrol, GAC800, gloss medium, varnish etc, yes...?
The cell activator bit is relatively tiny compared to the volume of PM needed for each pour.
As I say, it's possible I've missed something important en route here, but I'm relatively new to this, and still trying to understand it all! 🤗

      @SteveHsFavorites Před 7 měsíci

13:59 Hi Molly, the Amsterdam white and water is just the cell activator and a process separate from thinning your paints for a pour? The thinning of the paint is done separately using what ever recipe one uses as a pouring medium, such as Floetrol, varnish, GAC 800or whatever a person uses to thin paint? Thank you for the lesson it’s easy to see what cell activator works best!

Thanks so much for this analysis. Believe it or not just today I was in my studio experimenting with additives to the American floetrol in order to get the same results as the Australian floetrol, because I can't in good conscience keep paying such exorbitant amounts for this bloom gold. The minwax is okay, but not exactly the same effect. Now the water and Amsterdam white?! Wow! I'm getting out of bed right now to go try it. Invaluable info!!! Thanks! ❤️

I just wanted to say thank you for this video. I am probably much like everyone else who stumbled upon this art form and then fumbled for a month or so with recipes to make the ingredients react a certain way to produce the coveted cells, buying a bunch of stuff . Trying to find one recipe by sifting through all of the visual material available is time consuming and while every video I watched provided more ideas I just wanted a base point to start at, a constant, something to turn to when nothing I experimented with that day worked. Your video summed up the basics of how to repeatedly produce pouring medium and activator combo from fairly common ingredients that will do the same thing every time. I took the course after the fact but you were the little light bulb that initially went on in my head with your technique. Thank you

  • @herbst777

Hi Molly & thanks for this tutorial. It took me several months to finally figure out that there are three different mixing methods & ratios per each painting.
    -base pillow paint
    -cell activator
    -colored paints
That would be so helpful if you did a video on explaining which each one does what & how along with a precise recipes for each individual phase of the process. Just an idea that would be very helpful in separating those three components.

This is just the cell activator though, isn't it? Rather than the medium used to dilute the paints, which we'd still need to get. Looking at Molly's description box, she's still using Floetrol, GAC800, gloss medium, and varnish in her Pouring Medium for all these examples, no? 🥴

Omg thank you so much! I love the Amsterdam 😍. I use Floetrol now and I get so good cells but not like that. You are amazing and so talented and so helpful. Nothing but respect for you that you help others try and improve themselves and figure things out. 💕

Hey Molly, I'm new to all this and jumping from one technique to the next. I LOVE the blooms but it is so hard to get anything off the shelf here in Puerto Rico and Amazon takes 6 weeks to deliver. I saw this video after days of hitting ALL the local hardware and paint shops. Thank you so much. I know this is supposed to be fun but the wild goose chase was bringing me down. You saved the day. Much love, prosperity, and good health to you my dear. You are a Godsend.

Super excited to have seen this as I was browsing your channel, I love the Amsterdam & water, it’s basic, accessible and less expensive added bonus I don’t have to play mad scientist and get frustrated, , it’s so confusing sometimes, thickness, pillow, ca, little cups....that’s why I stick to easier pour techniques but here you’ve done it for us. Thank you so so much.
