Never a more true statement has been said than to watch out for a kickback while topping a tree had a white oak about 30 inches kick me back while running a husqvarna 51 years ago ended up with 150 stitches inside and out on my leg fillet it open clean to the bone now have scar of 9 inch smiling face on left leg your a good man for preaching safety best part is had I not worked timber all the time my saw would have been dull and probably lost my leg dr. Said with it being sharp was what kept my leg made his job easy was a clean cut missed main artery by 1/2 inch keep up good work

A thought for Puddin's fuel tray. Take couple of decent magnets and attach them to Brutus(or the tray), either on the back, the side or the underneath where the tray sits right now. That way something is holding it in place but it is easy to remove. Maybe a couple of the magnets you use for the camera mounts might work. Good vids.

We'll take all the rain you don't want, we are so gawddamn dry it is not even funny.........the dust is getting deep here in western South Dakota!!! Had a fire yesterday about 50 miles to the northwest, looked like the apocalypse, some (light) rain come thru with a lot of wind and helped the small band of fire crews. The fire was actually in Montana about 16 miles south of Ekalaka. (prairie fire) They were diggin' in a water line and hit a rock........

Topping is a tricky business all right. Even on flat ground it has its challengers. I was cutting a 12 limb off a big standing pine for a farmer friend to clear so his tractor could get by the edge of his wheat field. I was on the top of a ladder and could just reach over and cut down. My mistake was I did not check the bottom with an undercut. I cut this limb and I expected it to crack off and fly to the ground. Well it just pivoted down, hit the ground and then came back about 8 feet behind the ladder. Luckily it hit a wrist sized limb just above the top of the ladder and deflected just enough not to collect me. My son got it on camera and its is scary watching. Lesson learned. I took this knowledge some years later to a job and was part way up another big pine and had to take a big limb off the side to get it to drop where i wanted it. I cut a scarf underneath and then cut it from the top expecting it to pop off. I was leaning out with my pelvis jambed into the trunk of this big tree, infact resting on a round butt of a small limb I had previously cut. When the branch cracked off there was so much stress on the trunk, it sprung back against me and pounded straight into my pelvis. Did it hurt. Yes, cutting is a buzz(no pun intended) Stay safe boys.

I had a barber chair when I was younger and dumber and I booked it. My foot caught on a limb under the snow that I hadn't seen and I twisted around and had that saw hit me square in the chest and take the wind out of me as the butt of that sugar maple damn near crushed me. Sure know what your saying but sometimes its fun to think back on all the times you almost bit it.
