Dirty Dancing and Groundhog Day are two of my most favourite movies ever. My favourite song from Dirty Dancing is ' I've had the time of my life'. I first watched it in 2009 thanks to my Mexican friend who introduced this song to me. So I actually discovered the film thanks to that song from the movie. I loooove this film, gives me goosebumps…and I’m only 41 so watched it years after it’s release. Makes me so sad that it was so long ago and Patrick has now gone. He was such a rebel and bad boy! Iconic film and great video from you! ❤
I’m only a couple of years older than you and, yes, I probably was too young to see it when I did. It was the 80s after all. @@Sarnia_Cheriei was 6 years old when i first watched Dirty Dancing with my mum. My favourite part was when baby was dancing with Johnny in his cabin to cry to me and baby touched Johnny's bum in the black pants
While filming, many of the cast and production team stayed at the 1927 Lake Lure Inn and Spa. The majority of filming was done at a former boys camp. The camp gymnasium was the filming location of both the talent show and the final dance scene in the movie.
GREAT video. 10+ years ago my now ex-wife and another couple came here on one of the Dirty Dancing weekends that they put on once a month at that time. We were SUPER lucky and when we went, there had been a cancelation for Babies cabin, and it was available when we booked a few weeks ahead of our weekend. The cabin had 3 bedrooms. The other couple got the parents room that had a door onto the porch. No one slept in the bedroom that was the 2 girls. We stayed in the 3rd bedroom that's not seen in the movie. It had its own private bathroom in the room, so we picked it. During the weekend we let a few people walk through the cabin which we didn't have to do but meet them at things like the movie, trivia game and dance. Yes, the Kitchen was on the tour on Saturday morning, and they showed us where she was sitting on the floor crying. Friday night they showed us the movie in the basement room you showed. Saturday afternoon we had dance classes in that new big building and later that night they had a dance in that same building. The Patrick stone by the gazebo was only a year or 2 old when we were there so that puts our weekend in 2010 or 2011. The patio was still open, and the 4 of us were up there having a drink one time. Thinking it was Saturday after the dance class and before the evening dance. The restaurant was part of the package price, and all the meals were so GOOD! The best meal I feel was Sunday brunch then we packed the car and checked out and started our long drive back to OH. OMG I was there for 3 days and did not see that side of our cabin that needs cleaned. The window closet to the lake was our bathroom and the other 2 windows were our bedroom windows.
That's cool! Daze with Jordan the Lion stayed in the cabin a few months after me and had a pretty good walkthrough on his channel. The Come See With Me Channel also did a full tour several months after mine and he showed off the kitchen floor location, but it was very brief. I've never stayed here so feel weird about asking for access to places from the movie. There are actually signs up saying accessible to guests only. I did a follow up video back in April that you can find on my channel. It's a much more relaxed walkthrough of the lodge, I show the door to Patrick Swayze's room, and the new gift shop. And if you like 80s movies I made a full filming location video for St. Elmo's Fire recently. That has every location in the movie.

It’s a great place beyond the filming locations. I made an update video in April where I show off some more of Mountain Lake from different viewpoints. It shouldn’t be that hard to find on my main channel page.

You and I are the same age. I heard the Soundtrack before I saw the movie. When the movie was released, I knew what it was about and that it was above my age demographic, but I was always interested in things that are for an older crowd, and so I had to see it. It opened in December, 1987 but my family and I first saw as a rental when it hit home video that following June, and my aunt made a bootleg of it for me literally the day the VHS became available. I loved Dirty Dancing, and I've owned it on several different formats thru the years
So, shortly after I made this video they opened a movie themed gift shop. Supposedly they now have some movie props, souvenirs, soundtracks, movie recordings, etc. gives me another reason to get back down there.

That the water in the lake is gone at the lodge is such a real shame.
Its crazy that the lake has been empty for awhile. That seemed like a good sized lake. One of these days I would love do what you are doing. Great video.
For real! I remember they used to have canoe and kayak rentals on the lake. Now there’s a hiking trail going across. I have a couple more filming locations teed up - I just need to edit them. Stay tuned!

Oh yes. Anyone can stay there. They also have Dirty Dancing weekends.
Aw, I read a few articles from 2020 that said the lake was starting to fill up again but guess it didn’t last, huh?
It comes and goes but there hasn't been any significant water since 2005 or something like that.

It's the same road so if you entered in off of 460 you just drive further past the resort and you can turn around and come back from that direction.
