    The OLED looks better in most ways, but I think the color is better on the QNED. I'm talking about the accuracy and naturalness of it. The OLED colors are a little off due to the imbalance in spectral power distribution caused by the bluish-white light from the WRGB panel.

    I just got a c1 77 inch. It's my first "high end" tv and my first oled. I've drooled over oleds for years and getting it on the wall it really is as goood as it looks in the store. Honestly, I looked at a lot of TVs at a lot of prices. For me, nothing beats the c1. Also, it's in a bright room, but that's what curtains are for! If the sun is really beaming in I just draw the curtains. No big deal and I don't have to sacrifice anything else. I can watch whatever I want without having to be distracted by grayish blue blacks.

    A small qualm, but something that people should know is that the OLED sits very low when using the stand. So if you want to use a sound bar while having it on the stand, the sound bar will more than likely obstruct the bottom of the tv screen. That being said, you can buy universal tv stands that will work and they’re adjustable regarding height.

    The Matte anti-reflection layer on the QNED is probably largely responsible for crushing the contrast and black levels as it scatters the light that's passing through it both ways. I'd like to see the true contrast of the display without the matte diffusion layer for a more scientific comparison between the two technologies.

    Purchased the QNED, and my understanding is that you need to turn on 8K upscaling in the settings (it's not enabled out of the box). Could you provide some details on if you enabled this - because I would've expected your reaction to be a bit more dramatic if you were actually viewing 8K content vs. 4K content.

      Well with Costco, 1st year is Manufacturer warranty, 2nd is Costco Concierge and years 3, 4 and 5 are AllState. With so many companies covering the warranty, I would read the fine print to make sure they cover burn-in on the OLED. We have an older 1080p UHD Samsung and I can't wait to upgrade to even a QLED but my buddy who got the LG C1 77" OLED got me thinking twice on what to upgrade to... I am wondering what the comparison of the Samsung QNED vs LG QNED would look like because they are two different technologies, with Samsung using new advanced tech and LG using old tech with some improvements.

      Just make sure you ONLY use it for content that changes frequently. Don't use as a PC monitor, watch 24/7 news, leave game on start menu, etc.
      As long as it's regular content (not HDMI), LG activates a screensaver to prevent burn in. It's when you use firesticks or the other aforementioned hazards pixels get ducked.

    Image retention or pixel wear cant be noticed in its preliminary stages when viewing regular content. I was only able to notice it on my b6 oled when there was a static orange color in a menu. At that point it was obvious some pixels had worn out and produced what people commonly refer to as burn in. I recommend anyone who has owned an OLED for more than a year or so to run test patterns via youtube to search for signs of wear. Though how long it takes for it to affect all content i have no idea because i haven't experienced that.

  • @GraveUypo
    @GraveUypo Před 2 lety +4

    funfact: the "mirror-like" reflections on oled screens are actually only 5% of the incoming light. they are as reflective as bathroom mirrors are not. (bathroom mirrors reflect around 95% of incoming light). the biggest difference is that oled is less bright so it struggles a bit more to drown reflections, and the reflections are sharp and therefore more distracting.
    sunlight is damn strong, that's why 5% of it is still a lot.

    Quick question: I'm thinking of getting the C1 in the 83" spec. Would a larger panel give me more brightness, seeing that there's more light emanating from more diodes? I want brightness too.

    • @johnrambo4245
      @johnrambo4245 Před 2 lety +1

      no just because the screen is bigger the ratio of light emitting diodes is identical between all screen sizes.
      The brightness of OLED tv's is not a problem, the brightness is good enough on a C1

    • @CinceTheDay
      @CinceTheDay Před 2 lety

      I can easily answer this with yes! in order to compare "brightness" you have to define and measure it.
      two well known standards for that are LUMEN und LUX.
      by buying a larger TV the LUX value in your room is gonna go up.
      so if you also use the TV to read a book in your bed - going for the 83" is a good decision (not in general though:D) you got more brightness!
      the thing is you almost self answered your question - technically there must be more light - it's a bigger screen - that's how the universe works. however, that's not REALLY what you want, isn't it? you want more "brightness" on a specific limited area (of a screen - or a room) or to more precise: you want more light to be emitted from this area.
      That's what's LUMEN for and that's why the answer to your question is "no";)

    The QNED99 clearly looks sharper, more detailed and has - at least with these settings and this camera, realer colors, while C1 has too much blue in it which changes the colors drastically. Downside is at 7:29 where the QNED99 has a weird grid texture above the car / ranged textures, so either the settings are too high or the upscaling is too aggressive sometimes OR the camera glitched. How do they both look with best settings?
