Also the fact that you washed the engine compartment before dismantling indicates you follow very good practices. It is better to remove dirt and muck from engine body before dismantling than dismantling a dirty engine and then washing individual parts separately. Also I have seen many mechanics open a dirty carburetor and wash with petrol there after. If outer body of dirty carburetor is washed beforehand and then opened afterwards then cleaning the internal parts will be a lot more easier. Working in a dust and dirt free vehicle is easier. Its a good practice alas not followed by majority of mechanics.
