    Bardin's Ranger class is actually very good. He auto crits while in his cloud and if you have a trait on something that gives ammo for crits, he can sit in that cloud blasting his shotgun and wipe hoards.

      @CarloArmato Před 3 lety +10

      Right now Ranger Bardin is one of the most badasses support classes in the game, but you need to level up to level 20 to get a 20% random potion drops from elites and level 30 to grant a temporary HP regen and attack speed boost to all allies inside your ultimate (the smoke ability)
      EDIT: it's true that ironbreaker and Berserker are stronger at lower levels (i.e. below 14 included), but at higher levels I prefer ranger bardin thanks to its "late game" talents.

      The way I opt to play a Ranger Vet Bardin is taking probably a greathammer for reliable cleave and armor breaking - supported by the Crossbow for reliable sustained dps, and build for support skills to help out my team, excluding level 5 trait where I take temp health on stagger (really easy to build with a hammer). He's really good at bolstering whatever position may be falling behind.

    Very well thought out video, I have found so far nearly every single sienna is using the laser beam staff for its low overcharge and high consistent damage at long range however and it deals well with hordes even WITH it being a beam instead of an aoe.

    Two quick anti-horde tips that apply to all characters:
    * If you use a weapon with a swipe heavy attack, fully charging it deals no bonus damage and is just a waste of DPS.
    * Weapons like Kerillian's sword+dagger that have light attack swipes and thrusts/downward swings and be block-cancelled (blocking right after an attack) to reset your attack chain, letting you swipe hordes non-stop without weaving in 1-2 single-target attacks every time.

    Not bad, one thing that needs to be pointed out about sienna is that her firewalk quite often will get stuck on small obstacles that other "dash skills" (Like Foot Soldier's Handmaiden's and Zealot's) would ignore as Firewalk is instant opposed to continuous. Also her fireball staff will infinitely pierce unarmoured enemies if you use the charge shot, making it (the best/)an extremely strong horde killer.

Also, I prefer the glaive over the spear, given how you can spam your melee attacks against Chaos Warriors and Stormvermin without worrying about hitting their armor, and how much damage it can dish out.

    As a new player doing quick play runs with other low levels I find that the best strategy is to be at least decent in two different roles. Often times other new players don't really know what is happening and what they should be doing and spam arrows at basic slave rats. My current best way of doing QP with randoms is Kruber with a two-handed greatsword for cleave and a handgun for sniping. I used to play Vermintide 1 for a while and if there's one thing that both games have in common is the players completely oblivious to their surroundings. Being able to deal with a horde AND snipe that packmaster currently dragging your Kerilian away because she's playing with a blindfold is a way of success AND making your team think you should be the one calling the shots and leading the way.
    Establish dominance over your teammates by being competent, and they might follow you. Not will, just might. Herding cats is a tough job.

    Not that it's terribly important, but building Ranger Veteran for crits isn't a bad idea. The two-handed hammer is damn good for getting headshots and taking down armor. His career ability stacks really damn well with increased crit damage Grudge Rakers, just cos' each projectile gets an automatic crit while in the smoke, which can absolutely melt enemies and cuts through armor as though it doesn't exist. He's in the "dps" sort of role you detailed, but didn't really seem to assign to anyone.

  • @AMKalmar
    @AMKalmar Před 6 lety +18

    Hell yeah nub plays Vermintide!
    Regarding your segment about the Ranger Career for Bardin: Things may not play out exactly the same as in V1 because of the differences in both player and enemy attacks, and the new enemy variety, but Bardin and Kruber have access to the Handgun, the highest damage hitscan weapon with a high headshot multiplier which made them the best special snipers. That 20% reload speed comes in really handy for that, especially on harder difficulties. They also have access to the greathammer which was one of the better cc weapons along with shields for hordes. It's a little different now with shields and armoured enemies more frequently stopping your swing from infinitely cleaving, so your heavy attack chain often has to be interrupted with a few light attacks to knock shields away. Because of this I think the hammer may not be as consistent as it was for keeping hordes at bay.
    Now none of this really matters on the first two difficulty levels (or even the third if you're one of the really good players with a few thousand hours in the game) since you can [and it is necessary to] avoid almost all damage with smart movement, positioning and use of terrain, blocking, and dodging.
    On Wizard: vent (reload) before your overcharge passes the first bar on the scale and you won't take damage for normal casting. Depending on career or in more intense situations you may overcharge more to quickly deal with some strong enemies before switching to melee. And it dire situations you may have to unload and overcharge a lot and then ventilate, since taking damage from ventilating is better than being overrun and dying rather than reviving your allies.

  • @bradyking9884
    @bradyking9884 Před 5 lety +2

    I honestly suggest swift bow over long bow for Kerillian, she levels up to gain almost infinite ammo and it’s a one of a kind weapon; no other character has something that can shoot that fast or much (Salty did, but BoP got a reload time now). This and duel dagger make her close to slayer; not as strong melee but crazy fast melee and range abilities.
    Many argue that longbow does more damage and is better, but imo swift bow offers way, way more opportunities to protect far off teammates from hordes, is forgiving against non armored opponents/specials with the spam shot , or you can keep hordes at bay altogether/thin them out. Just learn how to fire fast ads and get used to not shooting your teammates.

    With the Dwarf, I do agree the Ranger feels a lot weaker than his advance careers right now. However, he does have his uses and just being on the field means everyone's not so strapped for ammo because of his passive. He actually works better when your teammates are running their advanced careers in my opinion. For instance, if you have a group that's running a Footman, Zealot and a Shade or Handmaiden, he might be a really good choice if you equip him with crossbow for special control. Yeah, the Waystalker is undeniably better at it, but he is still a very good second option.

Ive killed bosses spamming her career skill on legend because it has such a short cooldown and sniping specials from 10 miles out with her zues lightning bolt. But if shes completely surrounded and no one is tanking she gets fucked extra hard

  • @fuckoff565
    @fuckoff565 Před 6 lety +1

    Gotta disagree with you on Bardin. His Ranger class is really good. Equip him with a one handed axe for shield breaking and armor piercing so he can kill chaos warriors in melee easily. The one handed axe has a better attack pattern than the two handed axe, only has marginally lower damage, but it is significantly faster and unlike the two handed weapons, you can cancel attacks with blocks. For his ranged weapon, equip him with the crossbow. 30 bolts and an aggro reset in disengage makes him extremely good against bosses. The crossbow also has enough ammo to be useful for packs and it has the added bonus of having penetration so you can kill loads of enemies with just a few shots.

    Markus, orange halberd with 20% attack rate increase when you hit a crit, talent into every 5 hits give you a crit, and hitting 4 enemies at once gives 20% attack rate increase, great for hordes, 40% attack increase and wide sweeps, and for single target damage 20% attack increase(you will hit 5 times in a row before your 20% runs out ) AP. You'll be able to damage everything and fast, however, not great at tanking, and with how much you'll get the bosses attention with your damage it can suck. And I personally take hand gun to help take specials down at range, but range is more of a personal thing I think.

    I think Bardin's Ranger Veteran would be a bit better if his special ability affected allies as well, so you could use it for a moment of respite in the mid of a horde battle or able to pick up a downed team mate in a hectic situation.

    I wonder, do they have any class / race bonuses / weapon bonuses. In VT1 your weapon types had different attributes, like armor piercing, speed, attack radius, etc... The dwarf may fall into one of those things where maybe all his attacks are armor piercing. I remember the dwarf being quite good, at least for tanking, in VT1.

    • @nubkeks
      @nubkeks  Před 6 lety

      Yes his melee weapons often have crowd control or armour piercing. The shotgun destroys stormvermin. Having played him more I'm starting to like him. With an ammo trait or the ammo talent at 15 he might be v strong

    • @AMKalmar
      @AMKalmar Před 6 lety

      If the greataxe has the same light attack as the first game it should just eat storms. While on the topic of stormvermin, it should be noted that shieldbreaking weapons are pretty important now since dodging is better than it was, so it's easier to avoid normal stormvermin, but shield bearing enemies are much harder to deal with in groups if you don't have a shieldbreaking weapon.
      Glaive heavy knocks shields away with the first hit to execute with the second making it great for this.

    Fairly good guide. Gained a lot of points for talking about the different roles that need to be covered by the group. Lost most of them for saying tank, tanky, or tanking. But overall a good basic guide.
    One thing that you should focus on more and apply to all the characters is what you said at 14:36. All the characters roles are determined by the weapons they take. Use the 2-handed sword on Saltzpyer and now you are horde clear. Take the Falchion and now you are more special/armorer killer. Each weapon has its strength against the different enemies and has far more impact on your play style than the class you pick. Like Kruber as Mercenary with a 1-hand mace and Handgun is going to be pretty bad at anti-horde or controlling the horde.
    So your analysis of Bardin's Ranger is pretty bad because of this oversight. If you take the Crossbow or Handgun and the 1-Hand Ax or Warpick and combine them with your class ability you become a great anti-special with a panic button. Because you are now the only person in the game who when surrounded by a horde and with a boss breathing down your neck can say "Time out! Let me just snipe that Globadier first then we can get back to fighting." Bardin as the ranger is great for taking out specials the are in the distance or in the back field because he can hit his special, not be attacked by anything, and take his time to aim at them. Kerillian on the other hand may have a hard time getting her class ability to target the special through the horde or around the boss, or maybe can't stop blocking for long enough.

    I don't know if it makes sense to call one of the roles the "panic button". Aren't all of their active abilities a sort of panic button? The forth role is really "support" which almost none of the starting classes really excel at but if you aren't chasing the scoreboard and spend a lot of the game blocking and shoving then you're supporting the team. Markus with a shield or Salty using his sort of infinite blocks are good at this, and their active abilities lend themselves to team support as well.
    Then you get to Ironbreaker and Handmaiden who define the role a lot better.

    • @Tiralstrom
      @Tiralstrom Před 6 lety +2

      It's a rough naming, but it makes sense. It's not really fit to be called support though, because it is actually a panic button. If you're using the area knockback (from Kruber / Saltz or Ironbreaker) on cooldown as soon as it's up, you're taking the risk of getting into trouble.
      You usually want to save up these type of ultimate if you're getting overwhelmed by like a horde + a chaos patrol + ranged distance for example.
      Also not every ultimate are panic buttons, I mean Waystalker and Pyro have a sniping Ultimate, Bounty Hunter and Huntsman have a delete boss ultimate, Zealot and Slayer have increase damage ultimate etc...
