Back in the day, characters used to just roam around all the time. When I went to Disney World in 2003 on a class choir trip (they used to have a program called Disney in Harmony where school choirs could come and perform) they literally just let dozens of us ages 12-14 loose in the parks with meal passes and would just say “okay meet us back at the gate at this time”. It was a different time. I don’t think they would let anyone do that now. But we totally cracked the system. We had to stay in groups of at least four but we would sort of play musical chairs with groups depending on which rides we wanted to go on. We figured out the fast pass system (the old version with the print out tickets) really quickly so that we didn’t have to wait in lines. And we would find rides with no wait and ride them over and over. I think I rode Thunder Mountain Railroad and Rockin’ Roller Coaster each about 10 times. And we got a ton of character pictures, autographs, and did pin trading. I got a Maid Marian pin from Friar Tuck in a trade for my Tinker Belle pin. It was a ton of fun! Definitely would not be allowed now, but it was a more innocent time.

Actually they still do! When I was in high school we went to Disneyland&DCA every year for band (local-ish school) and from what I hear they still do that every year (except lockdown ofc).
Funny aside, the program that I don’t think exists anymore is the educational one where students could learn about California. So during 4th grade when most students learn about their state history and will typically dedicate their annual field trip to that, we went on a field trip to California Adventure. They had this whole program at the time with small museums that taught California culture/ history🥹. They were sprinkled throughout the park and you would learn about different areas and eras of California. so for ex. you would learn about the gold rush at the museum where they gave a lecture, play with some of the mining tools and see models of their encampments etc. and then be taken on the rapids ride after 🤣 and then learn about the different stratigraphy and environments and then be taken on Soarin’ over California 🤣 I doubt that program exists anymore since they’ve built so much of it up and probably taken away the museum portions in the process, also DCA was usually fairly calm/empty in those days so they could allocate resources to it where I think that would be impossible today with how busy it is. 😂😂

Just catching up on this vlog and OMG my whole family has PTSD from that ferris wheel at DCA 😅 On our first visit, we didn’t realise some pods were swinging and we saw our lives flashing before our eyes when we swung out over the water. Never again!!

Love these vlogs! I much preferred Disneyland to Disneyworld. California adventure is the best park! It felt much more chilled? Agree with you on the queues in summer, we went in August and it was so hot in the queues, I was on crutches too. Torture.

AH YAY! Will tell him!! It is in a slightly less desirable part of Hollywood (you can walk from Manns) but the staff were so lovely.
I know its a cost, but Genie+ in California works so much better than Orlando!!! Literally get on each ride every 10-15mins one after the other. For one day completey worth it

We bought a hopper so we did 2 full days in each but we actually popped back and forth between the two x
Ah lovely vlog again !! It's a lot to save up but you guys make me think its better to save up for DL Florida / California rather than Disneyland Paris. Better value for money and experiences I think xx
