Hands are so different . I’m 45, over 6 foot, got skinny girls hands with no fatty meaty part on the thumb pad. My. Thumb also doesn’t stick out to the side , it’s more straight . Seems Like it would be hard to make all hands do the same thing
Pointing your thumbs straight down the shaft is extremely weak. Your thumb on your top hand should be at 1 o’clock or 11 if you’re a lefty. Not too mention it’s best to shorten your thumb by pulling it back, and keeping it closer to your index finger. That reduces the tension in your forearms. You lose so much power just by having your thumb extended at 12 o’clock. You can’t use it to drive the club when it’s on top like that. That one mistake can rob a ton of distance. But grip the club however works best for you, that’s most important. If you want to get the most out of your swing, don’t put your thumb straight down the shaft
I follow that kind of grip i wasn’t comfortable and can do a good swing. Its whats make u comfortable using the club. Of course u figure it out how to adjust to make a good golf swing.
It's the bottom thumb being top center on shaft that I do, and is displayed here, that I've learned is incorrect. It should flop over to opposite side. Yes? But I've found that hard to do, or change. Thoughts?
That’s was causes a slice, or at least what I’ve been told. The grip is worst thing to change because it feels so weird but once you find a correct grip it’s worth it
It is so hard. Even if I start out thumb left by the time I strike the ball it’s back to center - so I think I can try this. His grip is also new to me I was told to clasp the club within the first fold of my fingers. He kinds is a full flight of stairs away from my grip position.
That’s correct. Geri Geren, a tour professional I’ve gotten lessons from recently changed that about my grip and it has worked very well for me. There are a few other things we’ve worked on and I can basically draw on command now.
Might be gripping too far into your palm on your lead arm hand. If the club is too deep into your palm it’ll cause tension in your wrist which won’t allow it to be flexible through your downswing and follow through, thus causing pain in your lead wrist hand and fingers
This video does not explain the golf grip. It sort of explains the way this person grips the club. What would be a more valuable lesson would be to explain the differences between a strong grip or a weak grip and how they effect the swing and ball flight. Another more valuable point would be to discuss grip pressure, since that is probably more important than the actual way in which your fingers lay on the club.
So tired of these grip videos claiming to be the “correct way”. There is no correct way, stop following these people, go to the range or course, figure out what works for you and improve from there.
The grip that works for you and provides consistency is the correct grip

@@ourclarioncall for sure. I've got medium hands and a big fatty thumb pad. I use medium grips with 2 pieces of grip tape

Bro has 4 hands oh my god
RIGHT?! LIKE AM I BLIND? HOW IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THIS!!!
Should the right thumb rest along the grip or come across the grip?

Truly awful
Just grip it like you would a baseball bat. It’s way more comfortable and you have more control.
