Brokeback Mountain is devastatingly sad as is, but with Ledger's passing it has become almost impossibly devastating for me to bear. You see, when I watch a film where a character passes away, I desperately try to console myself with the thought that the actor himself is actually alive and well. I doubt I'm the only one who employs this technique. It's like a defence mechanism against sadness, for those who, like me, are greatly affected by the stories told in films. Only, with this film, it no longer works. The thought that Jack Twist was only a fictitious character and that Gyllenhaal is thankfully alive and well is of great consolation of course. However, the thought that Ledger passed away at such a tragically young age is heartbreaking. What an amazing man with so much to give, of which he had already given much during his relatively brief but truly brilliant career. Forever loved and greatly missed. RIP

I was so sad for his characters death in the movie and had to look up an interview of him and I was just so happy he was alive. And through that I became a bit obsessed with him.
His passing affected me so much too. I even remember how I found out, I was 16 years old then. I was a total “fangirl”, I had pictures of Jake and Heath all over my computer haha. He is the sole “celebrity death” that will follow me through life, I think. And I always check on his daughter Matilda at least once a year. I know paparazzi are horrible but somehow it’s consoling to know that she’s thriving and growing.

You don't need to be gay to recognize that BBM is the most honest love movie ever. It's just a movie about a man who falls in love, and in the name of that love he gives it all, even his life. The window was still there to absorb the sun. I used to know Rufus. When I was a teenager. Waking to this song.. My friend was deadly asleep on the other side of the couch. I wanted him 2 wake up. I was sick. Back to the..... It was a few moments of safety and calm not alone. But completley alone. Was a long time ago. Scary time ago.
I have to say that the very first time I heard this song, on the soundtrack to Brokeback Mountain, I thought that what I was hearing was the voice of a very deep voiced Black Woman! It was only after I researched into the very complex life of Rufus Wainright that I could actually understand how I could have thought that! As it was sung on that soundtrack, it was true artistry!

In the final scene you get to watch the happiness of Enis about the present of her young daughter, he promised her to be there on her wedding, for her, no matter what. That's means the present. Then he realized that he has a lot to live for, when he discovered the sweater of the daughter. She left it over there so he couldn't forget about her. The sweater will reaming him to look for her on her wedding and to go there... God's will (they were methodist) . And Enis took a look in his past when he rediscover every time the jacket and shirt of Jack. And he cries for him because he couldn't take his ashes to the mountain. (postcard) and he couldn't bury or say good bye to Jack's clothes that means jack memories. He sweared faith love devotion compassion but the most important loyalty for his deep love for Jack. There were too many feelings and things, so he could only say crying... Jack I swear! Swear: he won't be far away from Brokeback , he won't leave brokeback. Because it was Jack's favorite love place! He wants to continue working as a cowboy. He will accompany her daughter... But he will be always around their favorite and lovely mountain Brokeback. Because no matter what Jack happiness was there and still lives on there. No matter other thoughts, the truth over his tragical dead which was not clear. But Jack was murdered... No matter graves, familiar cemeteries... Etc.
Also the clothes and the blood have a big symbolism. They mean fight problems conflicts blood pain suffering but also union and forgiveness in this case he never washed the blood of Enis because Jack wanted him to live forever with him for the whole time and eternity. Blood means life. Jack knew it, the tragic of their relationship...
In many cultures people keep and receive presents of the dead, because they will give them peace love luck and it's a symbol of don't forget me, don't burn me, don't throw me away, don't put me away. Keep me near at home in a corner at least, but not far away from your heart and memory. RIP. Heath Ledger.

This song reminds me of such a horrific time. Horrific spooky time in my life. But on a Sunday afternoon. On CBC radio.
It was okay. A long nap. It was all okay. The window was still there to absorb the sun. I used to know Rufus.
When I was a teenager. Waking to this song.. My friend was deadly asleep on the other side of the couch. I wanted him 2 wake up. I was sick.
Back to the..... It was a few moments of safety and calm not alone. But completley alone. Was a long time ago. Scary time ago.

I have to say that the very first time I heard this song, on the soundtrack to Brokeback Mountain, I thought that what I was hearing was the voice of a very deep voiced Black Woman! It was only after I researched into the very complex life of Rufus Wainright that I could actually understand how I could have thought that! As it was sung on that soundtrack, it was true artistry!
