The honesty one is very tricky I guess, what stops us from sharing everything with our partner? Does this mean honesty can destroy? How is not sharing everything protecting someone? I dont know but can we also bring scripture to this so maybe we can see God's perspective on honesty. I dont know if my comment makes sense

We definitely agree with you ,in part… Honesty is definitely the best policy however information which will not serve real purpose and not contribute to your relationship in a positive way, then we would choose to omit. We are also not talking about instances where there’s deceit, as we strongly discourage being deceitful . Examples of some of the things we feel will not be building would be:
- Small things that you find annoying about your partner. Pray about it and move on;
- Negative feelings towards your partners family members;
- Discouraging them about their dreams and goals without catching the full vision. etc

In terms of honesty vs transparency in/before relationships (not marriage), I believe that there can be some information that can be premature to share with a person and would cause more harm than good. You can omit some information and still be honest about the fact that you are omitting it, like Lerato said. I straight up told a guy I was talking to that I was not ready to share certain information with him instead of lying about it, and he understood and appreciated that. I’m realising now how wise it was of me not to share at that point because I myself had not even healed or understood that certain thing. I would have confused him as well. Now, a few months later, I feel I’m in a better space to be able to share that stuff with wisdom, a sound mind, and in a concise manner.
Ps. This is something that only affects me, not the both of us. It would be a different story if it also affected him.

Phetola I like that point, women read and research a lot and men are a bit idle about these things. I find that I value transparency more than I value honesty (that’s not to say that I don’t value honesty because I do ). My understanding of honesty is if I ask you a question and you tell me the truth. Whereas, transparency is you tell me the truth without me having to ask. I feel transparency comes with the greatest amount of respect because you’re at the point where you know that you can trust me even in your most vulnerable state. I strongly feel transparency is the defining moment in the shift of dynamic of the relationship from getting to know each other to being invested in each other’s growth.
Honesty is everything, thanks for putting it out, our generation needs it more than anything. We are a generation that keeps taking and giving nothing back to the world. It all emanates from little things like dishonest
