Can't believe the luck I had on this one. Starting word 'Bijou', then I plugged in 'Bulge', and was so excited it gave me 3 letters in position, I didn't realize it also gave me the L & G. LOL All I had to do was reverse them... A birdie today!.... Bijou, Bulge, Bugle!

Every Day Doug's suggested opening word for Monday: TEACH
After STARE and DOILY, I thought I was on track for another three with UNCLE. It wasn't correct but at least it confirmed the U for me. At that point, I couldn't think of a word other than BUGLE. So it's a par four for me. And that's okay.
I seem to be on a nice little run of birdies and pars - APRON, JUICE, BUGLE.
You need to have a little FAITH that you can get it in one guess.

How about CAPER as a starting word? The word has several meanings: a prank, a frolicsome leap, or a pickled berry from a shrub in the family Capparidaceae.

Glad to get the 4: LANCE, SLIDE, WHOLE, BUGLE. There were a few avenues you could have taken with today's word and where to place the L, which made it more difficult.
