Not only do you lose another one of your nonsensical "points" for not recognizing the fourth dwarf's name was "Doc", not "Doey", but I think you should retract yet ANOTHER meaningless point, if not two, for mislabeling Donald's duck nephews Huey, Dewy & Louie as dwarves AND pigs in turn. (FWIW, Dopey, Sleepy, Doc, etc. are only Disney's own copyright protected names for the Dwarves, In the actual traditional fairy tale the Disney movie was adapted from the Dwarves names were different. In fact traditionally I believe the Dwarves' original names were Nerdy, Runty, Snoozey, Huey, Dewey, Louie and Time Set-y.

I had forgotten Doug's starter word today, and thought it was 'crane'. So I picked a synonym for that word, instead of 'crate'. LOL Oh well. Here's my sequence... Hoist, Ready, Fancy, Lanky. Par 4 today!

Got the G and Y. Didn't see the Dwarf connection, but after Doug did, I solved the Blue.

Huey, Dewey, and Louie were Donald Duck's nephews. Grumpy, Sleepy, Sneezy, Dopey, Happy, Bashful, and Doc were the Seven Dwarfs. Doc was who you were searching for. Practical, Fifer, and Fiddler were the Three Pigs, though I had to look that up.

I think Doug saw "Seven Dwarfs " and ignored "Minus the last letter". The "Do" clue was referring to Doc, one of the Seven Dwarfs, not Louie, Donald Duck's nephew

I found this one a bit trickier than usual. After STARE and DOILY, I had a hunch the solution was going to be "allay". I was somewhat reluctant to use both the A and L twice however, even though doing so would provide good location intel on those letters. I opted instead for ALBUM knowing it wasn't going to be the answer. After an exhaustive search of possible remaining combinations, the only valid word I could think of was LANKY. That saved my par four.

The word "nerd" was first introduced in the 1950's by Dr. Suess in the book "If I Ran the Zoo". Huey, Louie, and Dewey were Donald Duck's nephews. Sleepy, Dopey, Grump and Doc are the Dwarfs.

Always interested in checking out your strategy. Sometimes you and I think alike, except when you throw in the double letters twice in a week. I found out that does not work too well. Cheers!!

Dear Doug, Art, and everyone, For nearly two months now, since late June 2024, I've been ill. Starting with a painfully swollen right foot, probably triggered by extreme NYC heat, I've battled several complications from hospital to rehab, back to hospital, including coming down with COVID-19 in the rehab place, and recuperating in a hospital in Flushing, Queens for a week now. I've played Wordle nearly every day, but my sister advised me against "unnecessary intellectual work" since the brain eats up a lot of energy, so very little Strands or Connections now. I generate my own Wordle starting words. I hope you all are doing well, playing your games, enjoying your summer, preparing for autumn, enjoying our online communities. I lived in a 1920s Craftsman bungalow home for years, Doug. The California city I lived in had an entire historic district of these. The American Craftsman movement took homes away from more ornate Victorian styles. My house was designed in an interplay with light and natural woods. For example the sunrise and morning light came into a breakfast nook that featured windows wrapping around the whole “nook.” Instead of opening up, the windows opened down, into the walls. The dining room had a built-in credenza and built-in bookcases made of Douglas fir, and an oak floor. It was designed to be useful as well as beautiful. Frank Lloyd Wright is considered to be the “father” of the Craftsman style but he’s also famed for the “prairie” style.
