The deceased arrives at the mortuary

- In this video we show the natural progression of events filmed on an average day at work for mortician/embalmer Tracy. As the deceased arrive and identification records are checked, the mortician must prioritise preparations to ensure the wishes of families and cultural requirements are met.
We hope this dispels some of the myths you might have believed about what happens behind the mortuary doors and gives some insight and closure to those with questions regarding the treatment of their loved ones after death.
Stay safe peeps,
til next time,

I've worked in Aged Care & I have prepared residents that have passed,...for the funeral home. We talk to them as though they can hear us during this time.RESPECT.
That's such a very special job, thank you for your kind caring work 🙏💚
I do the same chat away to my deseased ❤️❤️
My mom passed at home and I was involved in her post-mortem care. We washed her and changed her clothes. I wanted to leave the home with dignity
@@tamisnowden8555me. Our hospice nurse was amazing walking my sisters and I through the process perforce we started and showed so much respect to my mom and treating her with dignity as we were bathing her body. Speaking to her (and us) just like we would have if she had been alive….it was heartbreaking but beautiful at the same time.
@@tamisnowden8555wow I bet that was very hard 😢 my condolences
@@libbyliebig1327so sad 😢😢
My husband and 9 year old daughter were killed in a car crash in 1999. My 14 year old son survived it. I know the injuries were bad. I was afraid of how they would be handled, but I got a feeling from the funeral director and his wife, that they took extra care with my daughter. Maybe realizing my focus would be more on her, they cared about my feelings. Even asked if I was ok with things. Was there anything I wanted different? They were so kind at a time when I needed the kindness.
Thats so very sad 😢
We both send you our deepest condolences 🌹🌹
Glad the funeral home help to care for your family in a caring, compassionate and respectful way. Take good care 💚💚
Bless you. I'm so sorry for your loss
My brother in law was killed in a wreck on 1999. We almost lost his 11 year old daughter as well. Bless you
That's tragic, I can understand- cannot be any closer than parents &/or spouse
Sorry for your loss x
I find this stuff so fascinating, but I know I could never do it. Bless all mortuary workers, you guys & gals are appreciated for what you do.

I couldn't do it either.
Even the wreckers who have to go pick up vehicles. They as well as law enforcement and EMT. God bless these amazing people
It takes very special people to work in this field. You have my utmost respect.
Very kind thank you 🙏🥰
I tried it in college. I lasted a week. I couldn't handle it. Yes, very special people.
Yes, I have avoided to work within healtcare, and with dead persons and so on.
I worked at a mortuary when I was a teenager for 3 years ! I learned so much and had a different perspective and respect for the dead !
Totally Agree.
These workers deserve huge respect from all of us. I hope they are paid very well.
Thank you so much Jackie for you kind words 🙏☺️
Here in Australia it's not the best paid job, but I do love caring for others. Take good care 💚💚

Sad energy in there and to top it off the music.
I would playe some kind of disco 🕺 music in the background.
Absolutely. Over the last several years we’ve had 3 deaths in our immediate family…2019 --our baby brother, 2020- my mother in law--2021 --my mom 2023-+ my 25 year old great neice. Hope they were cared for by someone like the lady in the video!!
We’ll all be there one day. Nice to see such professionalism and respect given.
Thank you 🤗💚💚
Not me! I’m going from death straight to the incinerator. No embalming. Nothing. I have no family or real friends. So no obit no service. Just burn me and throw away my ashes. 6:19

I have always been interested in mortuary-related things and I could definitely do this kind of work. It’s not for everyone but what an honor to prepare people’s loved ones, or any human being, for eternal rest.
It certainly is an honour. Thank you for your comments take care 😊💚
Mine too but I never even looked how much it would be the school
Consider becoming a death doula.
Did you know that Whoopi Goldberg worked as a mortician before she became a celebrity? I heard she was very respectful handling the deceased and comforted their families.
I’m so sorry for your lost. I can’t imagine what a nightmare that must have been.
Man I would cry and be so depressed doing this
My daughter is a hospice nurse and I don’t know how she deals with death every day. I just can’t imagine having that weight on you. I took care of my mom and dad for 5 1/2 years and was there until they both took their last breath. It was the most difficult thing I’ve ever had to do in my life but I’m glad I was able to do it and be there until the end.
Much respect for this lady and anyone else who performs this unpleasant but necessary work. Thank you!
Thank you.
All my respect to the young woman working there ✝️

Gee Tracy i never knew that sometimes you would have to handle bodies twice your size , by yourself, and you are so petite yourself. Well done.
I do call in help if I think I will struggle. But I am very strong and have lots of little techniques I have mastered over the year were I hardly need strength just little clever movement. I do have a body lifter that can be used to help dress as well as placing the body in the coffin or casket. 🤗💚💚

I appreciate that Tracey treats each person with respect. I also recognize that you answer each comment in some way. I notice other channels do not. In the USA I think some things may be done differently. Almost all are embalmed I think unless the family request otherwise. Thank you for these helpful videos.
Hi, thank you for watching and your comments 😊
Yes the USA do seem to embalm nearly everyone and things are so different. Here in Queensland Australia we hardly embalm at all, really no need to. Only need to if family requests, going into an above ground vault, been flown to another country, going home for a few days or cultural reasons.
We do and try to answer every one who comments good or bad 😉 so you know we read all comments and take on the feed back. It's like having lots of friends around the world 🌍 like pen pals 🙂 take good care ❤️❤️

I took care of my daddy for 2.5 years and was his end of life hospice caregiver for 33 days. The night the funeral home came to get him I remember being so overprotective and watching every move they made. They were so kind and asked me if I would be alright with them wrapping him completely up in his sheet and placing him in the body bag, I knew it was part of their process just like we have a process in hospice but the way they cared enough to even ask me was appreciated. After caring for him up to his death it was hard to hand him over in other hands but I knew it had to be done. Rest sweetly, daddy! 12/28/1958 - 07/25/2022
We are so sorry for your loss xx
I wish this channel would show the whole process of disinfecting, washing, embalming, dressing and cosmetizing the decedents. It would be very educational for those who are considering going into the mortuary field. I'm sure some of the descendant's family would agree to it, if they were just asked for their permission. I've even seen full autopsy videos here on CZcams that were completely unedited and they were fascinating to watch.
Hiya, thanks for your comment. 🙂 We understand exactly what you mean but at the point they come to us most people are grieving and it would be highly unprofessional for us to ask if we could please feature their deceased mother, brother, child in a youtube video available on the internet for anyone to see. It's great if others can show this because it is fascinating, but it's not something we are comfortable doing.
As a nurse, I got to stand in on an autopsy. It eas the most interesting thing! The face was covered and I didn't forget she was a person. Autopsy I think, is the way to anatomy. Books just don't do it.
Hi Tracy! Happy Labor Day weekend to you and your family! I wanted to ask, could you please do a video on what happens from the moment of death to burial for someone wanting a "natural burial"? If someone passes at home, what are the steps? And if they pass at a hospital or hospice center, what happens? Im seriously considering the natural burial and would like to know exactly what the process is before i commit to purchasing my final resting place. Thank you!! ~Christy
Hi the video out to more is on a natural burial I did a few weeks ago. Basically you would be taken into care have no chemicals used on you would be placed into a natural shroud. Hope the video tomorrow helps ☺️💚💚

I had an interview at a A&E department one of the questions was what would you do if one of the members of your family came into the department requiring life saving interventions after a major life threatening episode, the following day i was still in shock and speechless having politely thanked the panel for their unbelievably truthful and honest question and left the premises in shock not being unable to continue the interview realising the inevitable could actually occur on my watch
Yes that would be so confronting 🥺 certainly not a job for us either, theses doctors and nurses are worth their weight in gold ❤️❤️

My younger sister passed away a few years ago, and the E.M.S. people told my mother that she would have to be taken to the medical examiner’s building for an autopsy to be performed. Sorry for your loss
I watched another video that had been streamed live and one of the questions had been about how did they handle the remains of babies and children. They person on screen said that they didn't like to put the little ones in the cooler by themselves. They put the babies in the arms of one of the adults so that it would be held and the little children were placed so they were snuggled or hugged. I thought that was so precious....Being hugged until the very last.
Yes I think most of us Morticians do that. I talked about that very thing in a video a while ago that we did on children and babies. It's hard for us to put babies onto a large tray in the cold room on their own it's just not right. I always place them with an adult it's seems the right thing to do 🤗❤️❤️
Much respect to this lady
