    For a guy who spends a decent amount of money to insure speed and quality.
    Let me offer some advise about some of that old gear you got there.
    Build another rig with them, and add them to the Unreal Engine Swarm logic to lower build speeds on large render files.
    Just a suggestion.

And I make complicated auto landscape materials in ue4 and learning to create photorealistic results. I also use blender a lot. So maybe I should buy a new pc sometime. Hahaha

    Will never use HP Z workstations again! Had such a bad experience with z420 with 30minutes windows load up times. I had 6 callouts to replace parts and they never figured out the problem. After 6 months I gave up. Will always build my own desktops from now on as HP are useless at providing support for their own professional systems.
    Any time you want me to build you a custom system Matt I gladly would! lol

    • @Workbringer
      @Workbringer Před 3 lety +1

      at the moment I don't ever plan on building my own custom PC again. Even if it was a "custom" build I would have a company build it and QC it for me. My time is for development and creation and I low key break hardware too much. Me installing the Quadro myself is honestly sketch lol.

    • @thejaycut1664
      @thejaycut1664 Před 3 lety

      @@Workbringer I've always had problems with companies that build them. I was even given a ROG laptop by my University in 2019, the company that spec'd formatted laptop wiping it of ROG control software making the laptop slow, sluggish and unusable. Made them replace it, losing me a month of time.
      Takes me 60 minutes to build a computer that I know works.... dealing with other companies and their support lines loses me hours, days even weeks of time. Never again.
      I run a video team of 2, producing 2000 to 3000 videos a year and I still have tons of time.

Better off putting aside a week to learn how to build your own stuff. Even if you started from zero, one week of self education is worth more than being dependent on someone else for tech support.

We are following in your footsteps here in Norway, got the Rokoko suit, vivetracker and so on - we have a question: how to set up the virtual camera blueprint in unreal to get the controller to zoom in and out, so that the buttons on the control act as zoom-buttons? Thank you!!!!

    Thanks for the video. A question. I'd like to purchase a head mount for iphone for facial mocap. Do you have a suggestion? I also have the perception neuron suit. I've created characters using Character Creator. I had planned on doing the animation using Perception Neuron, transferring the data to Iclone 7, then transferring it to Unreal Engine. I'm now thinking it would be better to transfer the character to Unreal Engine. Then connect the Mocap data directly into Unreal Engine.

      @@CinematographyDatabase really? That's reassuring to know. The last thing a struggling 3D and post production freelancer like myself needs is spending ungodly amounts of money on densely populated silicon wafers only to find them still lacking, and lagging... Oh great video on the topic of UE5 and the whole realtime CGI rendering scene in general. I started in 1999, with a then supreme but now defunct Silicon Graphics made workstation, we've come a long way to finally realizing what was my biggest hardest wet dream at that time - realtime, physically accurate light and reflections raytracing - nevermind that it can be done now at FHD resolution, on a laptop, without having to mortgage my family house....keep it up, subbed 🙂

    • @CinematographyDatabase
      @CinematographyDatabase  Před rokem

      the Z8s are really quiet, I think that is a big design mandate for them. If you start doing major rendering the fans will of course turn on, but compared to my custom PC it is "silent." If you do extremely sound sensitive work, you still keep the "box" in a separate room.

    You seem smart, maybe you can answer this. I just want to make videos and I want the final effect to be like borderlands in space. But I want to include raytracing. These videos are under ten minutes. I know in unity you can slow down the rendering to one tenth speed. Is there something like that in unreal (not changing fps) and if there is what's the minimum card you'd get? Could a 3070 do that without the renders taking all day? Great video btw.

    • @CinematographyDatabase
      @CinematographyDatabase  Před 2 lety +1

      If you mean capturing real time, UE games can dilate time to basically slow down physics into runtime “bullet time.”
      For rendering in UE Sequencer you could stretch out the animation clips while still rendering at 24/25/30 FPS.
      3070 is OK, but you will be limited with scene size memory wise but the raw CUDA core count is decent.
      For glass/translucent scenes you are probably better off Vray/Redshift in Maya/Max/C4D.
