Yeah, I noticed that as well. Though not before I noticed that he always paused every few seconds, regardless if he was in the middle of a sentence. And that the number of seconds between each pause were more or less the same.
Forget all the other Superman actors. Christopher Reeve WAS Superman. He was the one who really humanized the character. In this age of gritty, dark reboots, it's been forgotten that the reason Superman is a compelling character is because he's a genuinely good man. Perhaps the reason Reeve could portray that so naturally is because he was also a good person, a Superman in real life. His first two Superman movies set the template that superhero movies still follow to this day.

It's amazing how, now, in 2024 as a 33 year old man, I only see Superman when i watch this. I love Henry Cavill, and Brandon Routh did fine interpretations of the character, but Christopher embodied superman, he was superman and will always be superman. I had tears watching this video. Very moving. Rest in peace, Chris ❤
Me too brother, me too. This man was, is and forever will be Superman for me. The man with the cape, the man on the chair, doesn't matter.. Rest in peace Christopher.
Regardless of his accident and the horrific injuries he suffered he still soldiered on. An absolute trojan and a legend. My first hero as a child. Absolutely loved him and was gutted when this happened to him. What an amazing guy.
This was kept a secret the entire event, all the way up to the last hour. Reeve barely made the trip due to having to fly over and coping with the stress of the flight, lodging and preparation. But he insisted on going through and the producers treated it like the President of the United States was making a spontaneous visit. Nobody with the exception of three or four people knew Reeve was going to be there, and none of them said a word. Nobody in the audience knew he would be presenting.
It is so overwhelming to see such outstanding actors as Nicolas Cage, Jim Carrey, Tom Hanks, John Travolta, Meryl Strep, Brad Pitt... To give this kind of respect and admiration for the man who was truly a superhero and fighted until the end with all his power and showed the world that superheroes truly existed. Christopher Reeve brought happiness, admiration , respect, kindness and courage to everyone. Seeing Gwyneth Paltrow this emotional it's such an explainment of everything the amazing Chris Reeve achieved, and he will always stay in our hearts and in humanity. Rest In Peace and Long Live to the most unique, talented and strong man the world has ever seen. The one and only, Christopher Reeve, truly a Superman.💕😭💟👼🏻👏🏻

I went to tell her what a fabulous speech and how inspiring she was and during my conversation, I noticed she had green spinach visible on her teeth so I told her and she rubbed her teeth right then and asked if she got it. Took another attempt and all clear. She was so sweet, so down to earth, so beautiful. I’m grateful I got to to meet such a truly special woman. She just radiated love and beauty and warmth. God rest her soul and Her Superman.
A real and decent person let's someone know, and you did. Well done hon! Neat story and memory. Cheers.
Seeing Robin Williams tear up at 0:17 has to be the most heart-wrenching thing ever...shows how truly close they were! Both such incredible men...reunited...R.I.P Reeve and Williams 😢
Word is Robin Williams was supposed to be Christopher Reeves college roommate but instead he was roommates with Kelsey Grammer and Danny DeVito
Yea I don't think he's tearing up
I dont see him
@@MuchoGottscho far left corner
Officer Shredd Behind Tarantino - really at the 18 sec Mark
Whenever I need to ugly cry, I come here and watch this.
Me to.... My friend, me to
Why would you need to cry
Damn right!
Nunca te vamos a olvidar Christopher Reeve el leyendario Superman de los 70s
Regardless of his accident and the horrific injuries he suffered he still soldiered on. An absolute trojan and a legend. My first hero as a child. Absolutely loved him and was gutted when this happened to him. What an amazing guy.
I'm still in pain seeing him like this. You'll always be the superman for us, the strong and mighty superhero!
+Wise Words More and more I'm appreciating his character.
Wise Words
I felt bad 4 him to, i'm suprised he pased, i didn't think u could from being a qwad.
everytime single time i watch this video i cry, he made us belive that the man can fly, rest in peace.
What a beautiful man in and out.
The first ever superhero. endgame, infinity war, dark knight Trilogy none of them would be possible without this man. ❤️
As much as I love him but wasn't batman 66
He truly was Superman. His heart, strength and drive for good was stronger than any human on this planet.
You can see Nicholas Cage’s deepened eyes when he sees his true hero superman. Rip to a legend
Superman's alter ego was not Clark Kent. But Christopher Reeve.
That is amazing!
Do you mind putting a timestamp on where Meryl Streep was. I am blind and I couldnt find her

Cage is not a good actor
"But there is one man here on Earth, who will never kneel before you..." True words to define Christopher Reeve himself. What a standing ovation.
This man was absolutely gorgeous in every way. Just love his spirit
Wow the absolute awe in Jim Carrey’s eyes
A gracious and courageous man to the very end.
Of course he was; he's Superman, after all.
Thats what I've heard too. He got more humble after his accident. Anyways god knows better. May his soul rest in peace.
Peteto Chibs Please don't describe yourself.
I beg of you.
Peteto Chibs Oh,
The irony.
Peteto Chibs Because you have absolutely no evidence to berate and attack this great man.
he was so handsome and brave! I love to see all the celebrities amazed and moved by his presence .
Almost cried when standing Ovation for the real "Man Of Steel"
Christopher Reeve was a true warrior, or I must say, a Man of Steel.
He lived as a simple man, passed like a legend.
Tom Hanks was straight up at the front first. Celebrities back then had manners and genuinely respected them and other people!
to steal a line from Scarface" the eyes Chico, they never lie"
mattknight Celebrites still have manners - it's just the few bad apples like J-Lo and Kanye West that give others a bad name.
True true, the likes of Hugh Jackman are very highly regarded! I suppose I just look at modern Grammy Award shows and a lot are dressed and sat with a miserable face to prove a point about their ego.
À brave, handsome, generous and talented man who deserve a standing ovation.
This made me cry...that was one of my childhood heroes....I will never forget the day I met him.I will always cherish that.sum angels do cum to the earth
Even in a wheel chair, he was the one and only true Man of Steel
He always makes me so emotional, whenever I watch something about him, I'm about to cry..
+Rene the best superman
At awards shows… there’s ovations that everyone does because it’s just what you do at certain moments. Almost as if there’s one of those old fashioned applause signs telling you to clap. Then there’s this.. a genuine and sincere outpouring of love for this man. You can tell these people respected and had love for him. The most sincere and genuine outpouring of emotion I’ve ever seen at a Hollywood award ceremony
Even after that painful incident reevs was able to survive for a long time due to his will ,he really has some kryptonian genes inside him . disabled people see reevs as a true symbol of hope
i once participated in a live chat with him, i told him that he should run for president, he thanked me for the flattering remarks and that he may look at that, i think. He is now resting in peace.
Christopher Reeve, even deceased, would still make a better President than whom the idiots of this nation elected.

Everyone there in person that night was extremely lucky and truly blessed to be in the presence of The Real Life Superman that night 💚
He was still always beautiful. RIP lovely man.
YES!
0:18 You can see Robin Williams behind Tarantino , he's breaking down in tears. He was a good friend of Robin's.
Robin and Chris were studying together ;)
R.I.P. Robin Williams
They where best friend.
Great man
They both actually went to Juilliard.
The 90s was clearly the 2nd golden era of Hollywood because of all those stars in one place which we all know still and appreciate now.
Christopher Reeve had shown courage when he came to the 68th Annual Academy Awards in 1996 months after he had an accident that damaged his spinal chord. The ovation he got that night was super.
Poor guy.. Could tell he was in a lot of pain, even having a hard time breathing :(
thats part of why he was so admirable. all his pain and problems he faced with dignity and grace and compassion.
He couldn't breathe on his own after the horseriding accident, had to have a ventilator
Still miss this guy after all these years he's no longer with us. Truly tragic irony that he played the Man of Steel on screen but real life would strike him down for good. RIP Chris. One of Hollywood's greatest ever icons.
Very Powerful and Emotional Moment at the Oscars. R.I.P. Christopher Reeve.
