My mom and dad spent 2 years trying to move to Canada, and they succeeded! This is my 7th year in Canada!
Edit: I haven't been here in a while. Thanks for all the people in the reply section who have shown their support. I really like it in here in syrup land :)) Oh, and thanks for the likes too

We share a great home. ♥️🇨🇦🍁I'm a Syrian in Canada my parents immigrated 25 yrs ago and I'm so glad. Still a lovely and welcoming country but Syrian police will arrest you without cause, no freedom of speech (unless it's pro-assad) and (in rural places) ISIS still lurks. I last went when I was 12 but now that I'm an adult I'd love to go again. Hopefully we both get to see our cities of Caracas and Damascus some day in peace soon ☮️🏳️♥️

i'm from venezuela, not from caracas, but from a state close by, and nowadays everywhere in the country is pretty dangerous. i'm just a teenager and i haven't been able to do most things a girl my age does, because of the fear of setting a foot out of my house; it's really sad, honestly, the fact that i could be laying around watching tv with my little brother and suddenly hearing guns or people screaming on the street, and what's worse is that we wouldn't even bat an eyelash or look away from what we were watching, because we are so used to that, to hear people getting murdered in the middle of our neighbourhood _(which is actually considered a good and safe one)_ just because of a pair of shoes or a piece of bread. i'm actually lucky to be legally moving out soon, and the fact that nothing has happened to any of my loved ones or to me; the country's government is currently going through a big change, and i just hope venezuela gets the opportunity to heal. i want to come back when everything gets better and continue to happily live here with my family, i haven't seen 90% of them since a while ago now, i haven't even seen my parents, just because everyone is looking for a better life. we're all just waiting for a better future.

What really upsets me is that these kind of things happens very often in Rio de Janeiro, but cases like the woman in this video are very uncommon, most of the deaths are caused by the police.
If you're white and know the places you're going, you can have a nice stay even in the favelas. Just don't go around entering places you don't know like that women did, take care of your money, beware of scams and enjoy the trip.
But if you're black, you can have a bullet in your head by doing nothing, just because of your skin color. Police-gang will say they thought you were a drug dealer or some criminal or that you were carrying a semi-auto riffle when in reality was just an umbrella (for real). They are even shooting kids going to school.
Just google it "morte favela" and see the local news, it's always some police action that "went wrong" and some (black) innocent young dies. It's cold-blooded racial genocide. Really sad :(

I live in Caracas, and the description is pretty accurate. The situation here is just crazy, you could get robbed, killed or kidnapped anywhere and anytime. One of the biggest problems is the fact that the police are part of the gangs (this is very common). You can get robbed by a man and then see him the next day with a police uniform. We have our tricks to survive here anyways. Normally people have 2 phones, one for using it in the house (Iphone, samsung) and a little cheap phone for using it in the street, which only works for calling and sending SMS. Going to the street with an Iphone is just mad.
And of course, never walking in the street at night, because even in a car, it could be really dangerous.

I'm not saying Baltimore is violent, but in the first week I lived in "up and coming" Federal Hill, three people were shot to death on my street. Otherwise the city is quite nice. I have been robbed in the street in Johannesburg. I'm told that city used to be quite nice until the new "regime" took over. Kingston is horrifying. People go there expecting a Bob Marley Disneyland and find one of the toilets of humanity.
Lagos, Nigeria and Port Moresby Papua New Guinea are absolute shitholes, too.
I really have to have a word with my employers about the places they choose to send me.

I live in Caracas, DO NOT COME HERE, the streets are basically empty everywhere after 9 pm, not a single soul; crime rate is extremely high here and police are nowhere to be found and when they are around, it actually makes people even more nervous and scared, because more often that not the police are actually robbers themselves and they will try to rob you, in every way they can. for example: a police officer asks you to pull over and checks your car, if you are not careful they can slip weed (which is ilegal here) or any other drug into your car and then "find" it themselves, to make it seem like you were the one with it so they can bribe you. Its horrible.

As a person who's lived in Johannesburg my whole life I can say Hillbrow is definitely a no go if you want to keep your car. It's a dope city elsewhere though.

I’ve been to Jburg, more specifically the Soweto area mentioned here to look at the apartheid history. Stunning place and most of the locals were lovely, but you could feel the tension in the air and we were told to never leave sight of the group. Apparently you shouldn’t even stop your car at a red light because car jackings are that common too

I’m from El Salvador , from San Salvador actually and it made me sad when I heard that my country it’s one highest murder rates in the world. The bad thing is that it’s all true and actually there’s even worse than that... I don’t live there anymore , it’s such a beautiful country lots of nature to admire but thanks to the Maras like ms13 its all going to crap ..

My friend moved to my city from Venezuela. He’s naive saying he’s going back in a month or two(after corona), but his parents told us they aren’t going back cuz of how dangerous it is. I feel so bad for him.

Baltimore is dangerous yes, but there’s so much more to the city then the crime. The art, the history, the harbor it’s beautiful. I used to live right on the edge of Baltimore city and Dundalk line, I saw what I called “Working women” walking the streets at night, and heard many gunshots. In Baltimore I always felt safe when it came to health complications being that Johns Hopkins (ranked 4th best hospital in the WORLD) was right down the street. Yes it was dangerous, but I also met and know some of the nicest and most loyal people I will ever come to know in/from Baltimore.
