- The new look CBBC lands on BBC Two in the all new Studio 9. Richard McCourt and Dominic Wood return to continuity links to present, and this is the moment they became Dick and Dom (notice how they introduce themselves as that!). Apologies for the slightly ropey picture - this was recorded from analogue as my digital box was busy with the launch of the CBBC channel which was happening simultaneously!

This day, when I was 4 and a half in 2002, was the day I learn't of the horrors of all things coming to an end.
The fact that the lovely balloons were ditched a couple months later didn't help.
I'm dumb and fragile enough that I've never recovered since.

Think I may finally have sorted my capturing problems (well I haven't, have given up on that, I'm ripping straight from DVDs now - still something looking a bit odd with the picture, it's moved up a bit - nothing lost though due to letterboxing). Surprised no-ones uploaded CBBC and CBeebies launches as they were quite high profile but I'l get onto them soon!

The best era of CBBC
No, the worst era of CBBC, infact this was when CBBC died, the best era of CBBC was the Yellow & Black era, when it was also merged and didn't have rubbish untalented stars like Fearne Cotton and Barney Harwood but instead had the brilliant stars like, Michael Underwood, Ana Boulter, Angellica Bell, Adrian Dickson, Liam Dolan, Matthew Price, Lizo Mazimba, Kate Sanderson, Konnie Huq, Liz Barker, Simon Thomas, Matt Baker, Katy Hill, Sarah Cawood, Otis and Trey Farley, oh and not forgetting the funny puppet Emlyn the Gremlin.
It looks like your a fan of the 1997 - 2001 era of CBBC, in my opinion 1997 was a little bit of a downgrade of cbbc (like 1994 - 1996), 2002 has variety in its idents and is colourful,1997 idents was just a two colour pallet. Also CBBC back then only was blocks,The cbbc channel runs longer as it airs from 7:00AM - 7:00PM. There was also a reason why CBBC and CBeebies are two separate channels,the creator of CBeebies made it because he wanted to make a CBBC for younger kids.
@Olly RBLX Well what you said this puts you in the minority and no one is going to agree with you on that, the 2002 rebrand along with the separation of CBBC was terrible, dull and boring where as the 1997 rebrand of yellow and black animations was the best ever.

CBBC launch firework are begin on BBC Television Center.
Those CBBC bugs didn't stay though. They only lasted until the 30th of September in 2005. Why didn't they stay? Likely answer: because of the fact that in some of the idents, they were violent (such as Karate) making children think it's okay to be violent when they're angry. That's probably why the blob concept was redesigned on the 30th of September in 2005.
Guarantee though that if you ask anyone who grew up with this era of CBBC, they'll say these bugs lasted until that 2007 rebrand. That 2005-2007 bug idents were so forgettable. Even today if I watch some continuity from 05 to 07 I'm still surprised when I see the redone bugs and I'm like 'oh yeah, I forgot about that'.
