Launch of the CBBC channel

- The not-massively-exciting launch of the CBBC channel. Prior to this there had been a looping highlights promo since 0530, much as today, and the first face you see as TC2 goes live is a viewer who had won a competition to be the first face on the new channel. It's just a shame they forgot to put her mic up at the start.
Then into Xchange - the change in the aspect ratio as they link into UBOS was a common fault in the early days of the channel, as 4:3 programmes caused the picture format to change to 4:3 even though they were already being cropped down to 14:9.

11th Feb 2022 will be a Friday and it'll be the day kids break up for Spring half term - I hope CBBC do a 20th Birthday celebration. Imagine 20 years of shows across the half term week - 11th till the 17th.
Opening on the 11th with the girl (now woman) at the start of this clip - Then classic XChange, Stupid, Basil Brush, Blue Peter, Best of Friends, Classic Raven, Tracey Beaker, etc. As the Friday is a school day they could even show some of the "Class TV" strand (If you didn't know, CBBC was requested by the government to show educational shows while kids were at school, except at lunchtime. This requirement went away with the 2007 rebrand)
Maybe even a classic (or new who knows) Dick & Dom inda Bungalow on Saturday and perhaps even Smile on the Sunday. Granted for these the BBC will have to get the rights for the shows in them, but apart from Fairly Odd Parents/Even Stevens I think most of them would be quite cheap.
Then during the rest of the week move onto the shows after the 2007 rebrand (Not sure of many of these, I stopped watching then, but I know Shaun the Sheep and Sarah Jane Adventures)
And continuing on with the 2016 rebrand, the shows they air now - The Next Step, Nowhere Boys, The Deep, Danger Mouse, The Dog at my Homework, The Raven Reboot, etc ready for the 18th when the celebration stops.
This is basically what CITV did for their 30th Birthday.
CBBC Channel Was In 16:9 Because 4:3 Programmes Caused The Picture Fomat To Change To 4:3 Aspect Ratio So They Already Being Cropped Down To 16:9
It was launched but however it resulted in horrible way due to of it might cause the on-air to break off pronely

Do you have the full broadcast recorded like including all the shows and interviews and stuff. It would be incredible if you uploaded them (I know it would be like hours...). You could it in parts. It would be SO worth it the people could watch a full broadcast and it would be like watching the channel all over agin. (I hope what I've said makes sense).

The first 20 seconds are so awkward!
Sadly this was when CBBC died, the best era of CBBC was the Yellow & Black era, when it was also merged and didn't have rubbish untalented stars like Fearne Cotton, Holly Willoughby, Jake Humphrey and Barney Harwood but instead had the brilliant stars like, Michael Underwood, Ana Boulter, Angellica Bell, Adrian Dickson, Liam Dolan, Matthew Price, Lizo Mazimba, Kate Sanderson, Konnie Huq, Liz Barker, Simon Thomas, Matt Baker, Katy Hill, Sarah Cawood, Ortis and Trey Farley, oh and not forgetting the funny puppet Emlyn the Gremlin.
And also this is all Nigel Pickard and Greg Dyke's fault. They should never have separated the audience of Children's BBC and they should never have launched two children's channels when they are supposed to be in school. They should have concentrated on kids programmes on BBC One, BBC Two and BBC Choice. And they should have kept CBBC as it was as for all ages of children, not split them into two separate slots. I will never forgive Nigel and Greg for this. And the logo was awful and dreadful as well. The corporate 1997 logo including the yellow and black idents were way better than that.

Launched horribly
It's not the best (not even an ident!), especially compared to BBC2 at the same time. It kind of shows that the digital channel was the underdog at this point - the big names over on BBC1 and 2 (Dick & Dom and Fearne & Ortis on day 1) and the new faces on CBBC. Complete opposite of today.
The block does not exist anymore lol.
