Been playing for a day and yes it’s infuriating when your teammates constantly rush the puck even when their own team has it. Even just bumping them can mess everything up. It’s ok if they have the puck. They’re on your god damn team. Haha
been playing this game casually for a while and these videos are really cool lol

I disagree with the first tip somewhat...I have seen to many "pro" players bring the puck out in front of the net only to get picked by the other team for a easy goal. Unless you are playing with friends all on the same team I dont trust the player to get by every time. in pick up games most pro players dont even look to pass they just do it all themselves anyway.
I would still highly discourage you from sitting in net as if your playing in a more competitive game it's going to end badly. You don't have to go all the way up if you don't trust your teamate but your only hurting your team if your sitting in net. Youtr pretty much defending your own teamate as your forcing him to the outside which imo can really hurt your team since it'll be really easy for the other team to catch on
you are correct. a pro wouldnt just go across the crease with oposing player near them. tho - as a third player - unless you have high enough of technique - you shouldnt never drive puck up across the ice from back of your net while your teammates are in front waiting for pass. this aint solo game.
There's a reason 'goalie' is permanent position in hockey. A saved goal is just as valuable as one scored at the other end.
True with us “beginners” we can’t fully trust our teammates to make the plays and get the ball up into safety haha we have to play hard goal keepers in order to save goals
Im a lower skilled player and kinda new to the game, when I try to get out of the goal when my teammate is behind the goal with the puck he usually loses it and since nobody is in the goal the opposite team scores on us

lol I switched over to controller like a week ago and already feel like I'm better than I ever was with keyboard and mouse. But in short yes use controller, it has a ton of advantages and very little downsides

I appreciate these videos, even 2 years later, but the first tip about not staying in goal when the puck is behind the net is a big blunder in low ranks. We are all beginners so we dont have the control to take the puck out safely, so everyone just blasts the puck to clear it. Not staying in net here is a good chance to concede a goal speaking from experience. In addition no one has the control to psas the puck or even receive a pass, so this tip is useless for total beginners

IMO tryharding in this game makes it so unfun to play for anyone who isn't a god
First tip is already half-wrong. Never deke in front of the net; if your teammate abandoned net to go down court you should already be looking to pass before your defender blocks a passing lane. You'd rather have a bad pass down field that gets intercepted than to try and deke and get blocked or lose control and your opponent gets to gently tap it into goal.
So your saying you should deke outside everytime and never cut in? Sounds like an easy way to defend someone
@@nightsector5418 From what I have seen both from hours of pub play and my limited time in SPL clearing to the other side of the field ASAP without any wasted movement is the best option even if you don't necessarily connect the pass with a teammate. Slap2 is all about who gets screwed by latency or a micro stutter first, and when that happens you want it to happen in front of their goal, not yours. From there just setup the triangle rotations and you already won most pubs that aren't stacked with 70k hr pro players and while you're stuck with bots.
Unfortunately due to Erveons decision to punish people for leaving games, new people and older people who don't pubstack have just stopped playing slap altogether and it really hurt the community.
@KILL If you use the dump and chase meta against any good spl team your going to lose. If you want proof that dumping isnt the best option then just watch SPL games and look at how enry, kylar and some of the best 3's in the game play.
Also as someone who has struggled with lag for my entire SPL career I couldn't disagree more with your statement. There's people who play with 120 ping, 80 ping in SPL and I barely hear them complain about that. Sounds like your just blaming the fact that theirs stick lag and avoiding the fact that 99% of your mistakes are from a miss-judgement on your part.
@@nightsector5418 What's funny is there are like maybe 10 'good' players in the community who can consistently puck handle through microstutters and lag. A lot of vets saw how much worse the lag was in slap2 compared to 1 and didn't even cross over. When you're trying to base your statement on a literal handful of players who put in enough hours in this game to acquire a ph.d just to be at that level, it has me wondering if that mentality is why the player base keeps shrinking and shrinking and shrinking. I'm playing at 34ms u.s eastcoast and I've got latency and microstutters even while on Ethernet that's just due to poor netcode and the lazy decision to put a game like this on unity. I shouldn't need to be some weird spider fingered freak of nature twitchy anomaly to get my character to rotate on its axis consistently.
A lot of these "vets" who complain about lag have one thing in common, their washed. The reason slap 2 is more laggy than slap 1 is that the mechanics are 2x faster which obviously will create more lag. Also I play at 40-60 ping and sometimes with Ethernet and sometimes without. Yet I'm still able to play through ping even though my ping often jumps up to 70-90 ping. I struggled with lag for while until I started blaming myself rather than the lag. I instantly started performing better and understood it's more of a psychological obstacle rather than a physical. Also the reason I base my statement on a handful of the best players is because you made the statement "never deke infront of the net" and clearly players like enry use that strategy to help create an unstoppable offense. Not saying everyone should cut infront of the net, and dumping it is the safer option but eventually you do need to mix up your play style if you want to compete with better players.

The best player in the game uses controllers and it's currently the best to use as of right now.
