- I flew across the country with @Mike Tytula to attend the Calgary Reptile Expo and see captive bred purple harlequin toads (Atelopus barbotini)! We also saw a $2,500 pacman frog! These are some of the rarest and most expensive frogs I have ever seen for sale at a reptile expo!
Thank you to The Alberta Reptile and Amphibian Society (T.A.R.A.S) for flying me out to attend the Calgary Reptile Expo!

Thanks so much for watching everyone! It's great to be back! There were so many amazing animals at this Reptile Expo! It was wonderful meeting so many of you and it was also great reconnecting with friends in the community! I'd like to offer my sincere thanks to The Alberta Reptile and Amphibian Society (T.A.R.A.S) for flying me out to Alberta to attend the expo and for sponsoring today's video! Don't forget to answer today's Q of the day!
That was an AMAZING expo. And to hear from others who are so passionate about reptiles was great tool
Dang it I'm from Calgary and the one time I miss the expo because of work you and Mike show up. So gutted I missed it.
Have you ever been to the expo in Houten (netherlands) its the biggest of my country. I hope to be able to go there one day
Having a vet onsite to check on the welfare of the animals onsite (@11:00) - that's some next level stuff. Great work Calgary Expo!
Indeed! The Toronto Expos do this too!
Those little purple toads on show as the first captive bred population ever were soooo pretty!!!
They were amazing to see in person for the first time!
I love how they stand on their little tippy toes!
Harlequin Toads are for sure a dream species. Very cool stuff!
Bro they were so cool! Like something out of TRON!
I have some that are gonna be breeding soon ☺️
Thank you so much Dayyan, was so great seeing you, and an honour to be featured 🥰💚😁 TARAS always puts on amazing expos! I am so excited about Jungle Jewel's Atelopis barbotinis💜
For me the best animal Is one thats happy, well cared for and growing and eating... Thanks to everyone thats caring enough to give this creatures a good life quality!!!
Very well said! 😊
I have been looking for an “Emergency” sticker for my house that includes reptiles. I’m so glad the sponsor of this show has them. I’ll be getting some for sure. Thanks for an excellent documentation of the show. 🦎🐊🐢🐍❤️
It was great meeting you! Thank you for giving such great coverage of my local expo!
I did find a very pretty reticulated gargoyle in the end from Mostly Just Geckos.
Lovely meeting you too! That’s great! Happy you found one!
That's where I got my orange stripe a few years ago, he's a big guy now lol
Every time I see Nick Stacey's CB purple harlequin toads, I get immensely happy. I've loved this species and wanted to see them CB for a LONG time. Now, I'm just waiting for the space, money, and confidence to get some of my own!
Couldn't agree more! It's wonderful!
May I just say that I am so lucky to live about 40minutes from the Bug Guys. They are an awesome pet shop with the best selection of reptile products around here... HIGHLY RECOMMEND! The pink chicken saddle back frogs were AMAZING!
They are fantastic!
Thank you so much Brenda! 🥰 That is so kind, we are always happy to help, and it was so great seeing Dayyan at the expo and an honour to be featured, thank you!😁💚
I happened to go this year with my partner it was our first expo and it was even better than expected. It's a special hobby. We brought home a lot of sweet new critters
I had an awesome time at the expo.
Was so nice to meet you guys (you were talking to someone else while mike and I were chatting).
Hopefully we will cross paths again.
My favourite animal(s) at the expo were my new dendrobates tinctorius azureus, American green tree frog (hyla cinerea) and Brazilian white knee tarantula (acanthoscurria geniculata).
What a great weekend!!
So glad you had a great time! Sorry I was chatting with someone else haha. I hope so too! Awesome animal pickups!
Oh wow, love the tarantula breeder woman.
How awesome to have pics of them with their names so you can see their looks.
I personally met Stan Schultz. He is a great person to ask anything about arachnids. He went to my work and made my day.
Welcome back I hope you took enough time to take care of what you needed to. This is a really well done video. Nice mix of showing really cool animals and talking to others (both vendors and shoppers).
"You're a horrible person". LOL! I didn't remember saying that, but you know we love ya!
Hahaha I know you do 😂 👌🏼! Love you guys too!
This is so cool glad you better and posting again love all the animals once again your awesome
Thank you so much! 😊🙏🏼
All of the animals are amazing!
Those Saddlebacks were really neat, love the unique looks!
it was so nice meeting you Dayyan!
What an amazing expo! So many beautiful animals!
Couldn’t agree more! It was great!
Hey friend, amzing video and awesome animals. So excited!
Thank you so much! 😀🙏🏼
Awesome video great footage 👍🏿
Thank you!
Great video reptile show
Thank you!
The toads with pinkish/purple bellies were very cool, even dug how the one was walking and seemed curious about surroundings.
So happy to see that the reptile community is growing in Canada
Indeed! 😊
Mike's cool I watched his frog videos before, I love frogs and I wish more people would post about them.
Rosy boa!!! My dream snake! It was so good to see one in western Canada!❤
They are super fun snakes 🐍!
Hi Dayyan, my fav animal was the man who wrote the book. I didn't catch his name. But reading is my passion and authors have this amazing super power that I just was not born with. Plus, Mr. Author is a teacher and teaching is the best gift you can give a person! Excellent video as usual, my friend!
Love expo vid's 🙏. So awesome to see Dr. Chapman and respect to Brandon. Love to see more expo videos 😍
Thank you!
Love expo video's. That Pacman was the weirdest thing there. Missed you at the Toronto expo guess we will see you in the fall.
Me too! Was quite an interesting looking frog! Next time!
that saddleback was beautiful!!!
Pretty cool frog for sure! 🐸
My very good friend Stan Schultz! Such a sweet smart man. Totally knows all there is to know about so many things, most of all tarantulas! Good to see him being honored.
He is incredibly kind!
I wanted to go their but my mom said we couldn't go without my dad. I am so jealous.
That boa was amazing
there was a brief glimps of an all white snake, python(?). so pretty.
Wholesome expo
Thanks!
Hay bro nice to see your back. Hope we get a Croc Skink update soon, you cover them the most on CZcams so I’m Interested to see how they’re doing. Have you separated the juvenile male from the family of 5 yet?
Love them all
I love the snakes!
Canadians are so friendly!
Cute rare purple toads
The geckos are expensive!
Thanks so much! 😊🇨🇦🦎
Wish I saw you guys there! Another Calgary expo coming next month if anyone is interested!
Hopefully in the future!
17:57 HOLY SHIT! at first i was like that dude looks exactly like Stan Schultz and then realized it is Stan Schultz! Good to see that he is still around and attending the TARAS shows, i met him for the first time at my first reptile expo which happened to be TARAS waaaay back when i was 9 years old, we kept in touch after the expo and the kind sir invited me to his place where it was the first time i have ever seen a real "collection of tarantulas" and that is what led me to where i am today, jesus! His book was also the first piece of tarantula keeping literature i had ever purchased, also had him sign it, too bad after moving back to Ontario in my teens i had misplaced that book :( Great vid btw
Lovely expo! I wish expo's in my country are bigger. I love to watch the snakes
Thank you!
And I thought my baby White’s Tree froglets were tiny….but those glass frogs and dart frogs are minuscule! And those purple frogs that have finally been successfully captive bred is so exciting! I’ve seen photos of them before, they are amazing! I hope they can breed millions of them!! 💜 𓆏 💜 𓆏 💜 𓆏 💜
Loved to see the jeweled lacerta, I live in Portugal so I get to see them in the wild, here we call this lizard sardão
I liked that grey and black patchy snake with some iridescence to him. He was only on the screen for a few frames but looked really cool!
Love hearing that Canadian accent
🇨🇦💪🏽
Loved the Boa (?) at 7min 15 ! Is that a blood morph ?
I think the coolest animal I have seen this far in the video was probably the glass frogs
I have no idea what that turtle at 7:43 is but it's beautiful!!!
Dang! I didn't realize I missed it this year. Hopefully I can see you there again in the next few years.
Hope so! Thanks for watching!
That blood python looked clean af. Also props too Mexico for doing what it can
Was a beautiful animal!
4:05 then me looking at my shelf of animals
Супер интересный выпуск.
Looking for your thoughts on co habbing dart frogs (or milk frogs) and crocodile skinks? I was thinking on doing a large paludarium with both species.
I strongly recommend against it. Croc skinks can be territorial and opportunistic. I would definitely not risk housing them with the frogs, they would probably kill them.
@@Reptiliatus thanks for the quick reply! I will be sure not to do that then.
I love your videos. I want to one day get a veterinarian degree in herpetology. Unfortunately I’m 14 nearly 15 so I have to Waite a while. I’m a reptile fanatic!!! I just got a new female leopard gecko called Luna recently ( 9 days ago ). I want to eventually get a few of the Leo’s. A few cresteds and 1000% I would love to get tokays and neon day geckos. Apart from geckos I would love to eventually build up to snakes. Lizards like the uromastyx and so on. You’r videos help me a lot when I’m not feeling great and I always learn something useful from you. Keep up the great work. I hope to be able to post educational videos on reptiles one day too. I have been watching you for a few months now but you are definitely my favourite CZcamsr going . My name is Lewis by the way I hope your doing well and I hope you see this 😀
I came here from Kamp Kenan. You've earned yourself a new subscriber 🦎 .
looks like it was a lot of fun ;o; I look forward to selling my art at one of these reptile conventions sometime
It was a blast! That’s a great idea 🎨!
🔥🔥🔥🤯🤯🤯 that pink belly toad is crazy beautiful s
They are amazing animals!
Looks like it was amazing!! Do you think there were more options for animals than at the Toronto expo?
Camera and mic are 👍👍👌👌
Thank you! There were so many people but I would say there were def fewer vendors at this show than Toronto. The vibe was so wholesome though. So much community building and emphasis on education which I really admired!
I wish so badly I could’ve hit the Calgary expo !! Did know you and Mike were going!! Aaaarg!! Lol
QOTD: that pink dart frog!!! So cool!!!
The bug guys are awesome!! My favourite pet store here!! (Okanagan) I just bought merch from them! I travel over an hour and 2 towns away to visit them!!
So I know a lot about Certain animals but I’m still looking for advice do you have any if you are wondering for what animal it is for the tokay gecko if you have some pls tell me
FREAKIN' PURPLE FROGS! I WANTS!
Do you know anything else about this conservation program in Mexico, Ive never heard of It...
You can find a bit more info here: tarantulacanada.ca/mexico
We just have a similar event here in Mexico called "Animalia", It was a two day event and was great, no animal could be sold without a certificate of captive breed... Its good to know that the autorities of North American countries are hand by hand and aré willing to support breeders and enthusiasts, but also to protect the wild populations... "United for the conservation"...
QOTD: Definitely that funky looking pacman frog. Was blown away by the price tag. He must be one of the new, if not the only one in Canada to have one for that price. I looked online on MorphMarket and only 1 was for sale, for only $400. Another breeder had them for $1000 a pop on their website.
Would have loved to hear what kind of blood/short-tailed python that was that we saw a glimpse of. Was definitely a looker.
Can you make a video about plants and how to care for them in a terrarium?
My plants arent thriving that much in mine, and i dont know many good and nice species, besides pathos :D
Hey dion I'm a fellow reptile fan and I'm letting you know there's a reptile expo in slidell Louisiana in July, hope I see you there
Hi! Thanks so much! I wish I could come but going to the US is a bit more complicated and I’ll already be in Orlando for AnimalCon in August! 😊
I gotcha but I have to say I love your videos and can you give us an update on the Chinese crocodile lizards after all you did say the females should be having babies
That black and white snake at 6:13 is shockingly gorgeous!!! Does anyone know the name of the morph?
The glass frogs
🐸
My favorite animal was thar big lizard Cody from The reptile shop from Red Deer is holding outside
That goulds monitor was amazing!
God I can really here our Canadian accent I never believed existed in some of the people you talked too lol ( I'm from Canada 🇨🇦 too) 😆
I wishhhh sadly I'm in Europe and there's barely any expos over here. It looks like an awesome experience and would love to do it one day!
Well we have the biggest one in the World, the Terraristika in Germany. I was there last week for my first time ever and I was just blown away
Holy crap I never knew that and I happen to live in Germany! Thx so much I'll definitely go there
@@j0y.447 You're very welcome! I live in germany too and I kinda always knew about the Terraristika in Hamm. The Problem was that I didnt have a car so I used the new 9€-Ticket for the show that was on the 11th of june. The next one is in September, its 4 times a year on the second saturday of June, September, December and March.
@@AliNeisy thank you so much!!!! I recently got my first reptile, my crested gecko, and I love her and have totally gotten into reptiles and would love to go to a reptile expo. I'll definitely be going in September!!
I saw you at that expo taking a video of the viper gecko. I got a Goliath bird eater
No way! That’s awesome, congrats on the lovely acquisition! Did we speak? You should have said hi!
Canadians are so nice . No worries .
Haha thank you! 😊🙏🏼
When’s the next one ?
I’ve always liked newts, had them growing up. Can’t get them anymore in local pet shops
They are very special to me too! My first herp pet was a newt actually!
@@Reptiliatus Me too! Fire bellied newts. It was a blast to watch them just doing their thing in and out of the water.
I am a frog lover so that frog that was 2500 my jaw dropped 🔥🔥🔥 that was my fav for sure. 🇨🇦❤️🇨🇦
Super cool animal! 🐸
Oh damn i didn't know you knew Nelson, tails and scales is where i got all my animals!
Haha yes! I’ve known him almost a decade!
At 0935 what is that snake morph? Forgive my ignorance
I think I know who those purple toads came from
Lucas mentioned who in the video! 😊
Thanks for watching!
@@Reptiliatus yup I know he did and it’s a good thing I’m friends with that person
I would LOVE to have a rescue tortoise. How cute would it be to sit outside and eat a salad together?? Other than that, I would love a banana bald python. A rescue tortoise is top vibes thought.
The python I don't know the name of it if it goldeye or super orange or blood. Please let me know what it is 7:17
It's a goldeneye blood
@@thenaturecentre thank you I could not tell
That yellow and green GTP.
Great choice!
Man now I wish I would have went
😊
The newts / salamanders
They were def awesome!
If I would have known there was going to be fire belly newts I would've came! Do u remember what vendor was selling them?
I think King Chicken has my heart.
I just rewatched and realised he said "Pink Chicken." 😂 Still the king of all chickens!
Haha it was a neat animal! 🐸✨
👍😍
rosy boa
Cool!
I wish I had expos like this on my country
Or just any expo, all amphibians are ilegal here lol (and reptiles super restricted)
So sorry to hear that! Makes me not take things for granted 😓. Thanks for watching!
The coolest animal here was that pacman frog with the weird mutation.
Was pretty crazy!
What is a frog by 10:40?
Lucas says the Latin name 😊. They are purple harlequin toads 🐸
@@Reptiliatus where can you buy them 🙈 would it be possible to import them to germany? what does this kind cost 🙈 thanks for the reply
tick on the ball python at 2:35?
There isn’t a ball python at 2:35 😅
@@Reptiliatus Oops... 4:35.
The hermans tortoise
Did you get any new animals 👀
Nope! 😊
I bought a few plants 🌿 though and some F10 cleaner!
Qotd probs the glass frog
They are amazing frogs!
@@Reptiliatus I know it's mad how you can see through to there hearts and that init
@@strkr7876 indeed!
Loved seeing the TarCan display, that B. auratum was so stunning. Also, I'm glad to see that Stan Schultz is alive and well. Has he mentioned anything about his upcoming 4th edition of the Guide or is it still in writing ?
Stay safe and thanks for sharing :)
Why they never do anything like this in jersey ughh
Start it! Thanks for watching! 😊
my favorite animal would haft to be the viper gecko
I have been looking for a desert and not common species of gecko
They are awesome!
I have a question can u use one layer of substrate and now drainage for a crested gecko bioactive vivarium
Bella, where have you been loca
