However, such a thing would not take away the ability to use powers or hinder them in the way kryptonite has for all these years in the comics. It wouldn’t de power his invulnerability, strength, or speed, etc, it would just impair his ability to use such powers if the screams were in inflicting torment on him. If it is some kind of different radiation than the UV radiation that gives him power, sure that makes sense, it returns him to the state which he would be in if he were on in krypton, where the material was abundant, but would be much more volatile on Superman, someone who is being cut off from the powers he’s had his whole life due to being on earth and so close to the sun. The most commonly held "origin" of Kryptonite was for the Superman Radio Program in 1943 as a way to write out Bud Collyer- the voice of Superman- for a few days because he was sick (or wanted a Vacation- depending on which version of the rumor you've heard). Another voice actor "filled in" by just making groaning sounds (or sounded muffled from hiding in a closet- again, depending on which version you've heard!)

    Considering other wild explanations characters have had this is actually pretty tame. We already know Superman has super hearing and those rocks are from another planet so maybe they can contain sound waves.
    To be honest I always thought it was the opposite of radiation. That kryptonite being from his home world is able to absorb the solar radiation from the sun and therefor from Superman, draining his powers faster then he can absorb sunlight.
    Fun Fact: The original green lantern got caught off guard and got hit with a piece of wood. Because of this he believed his green lantern powers didn't work on wood so he subconsciously made it so.
    Later green lanterns would have the weakness of yellow due to yellow being associated with the yellow fear lanterns.

    All of Superman's abilities are heightened in yellow sunlight, as opposed to red, because they absorb radiation through their skin. Honestly, uranium should give him some weird side effects, too, but it's just another energy his body can process along with the UV light that amplifies his natural state.
    Kryptonite, both from long term exposure over time by his people, is just a type of radiation that makes him sick (and it's like breathing to us, for a Kryptonian, he can't turn it off, just block it with lead)

    I think prefer the other version, which states that all Kryptonians and their DNA, got mega doses of radiation from the planet Krypton (as the planet was one giant Kryptonite radiation source). But that their red sun Rao suppressed the effects. Its this radiation that part of where Kryptonians get their power from. This mega dose combined with yellow sun light makes them super. But it was only Kryptons red sun aka Rao that suppressed the effect of Kryptonite, so that is why Krytonite still effects Kryptonians under any other red sun light. Its this radiation sensitivity that causes other colors to effect Kryptonians differently, like red makes them jerks. It also explains why hybrids are still affected, source of their power is also the source of their weakness.

Like sucking the energy from the surroundings and even supermans body before he could use it while also adding some disruptive "code" to it superman later learns to overcome. Like some kind of jamming device. Would also explain different kinds of kryptonite or why only the kryptonite of one particular universe can affect one particular superman. Because his superpowers are being sort of broadcasted across the universe and every superman has his frequency just like any kryptonite has its.

    I thought it was because of the way that sunlight refracted through it that it prevented Superman from being able to utilize sun energy (even though that wouldn't explain kryptonite being used in a dark room or at night as far as I was told that was the Canon explanation)

    I like the common explanation from the 1970's better. Superman's physiology makes him basically a power cell that absorbs radiation. Kryptonite radiation would contaminate Superman's power cells causing them to fail or become inefficient. This would end up weakening him or killing him if his body's solar batteries failed.

  • @dinah9463
    @dinah9463 Před 11 měsíci

    it should just be that it releases some kind of gravitational waves that make the sunlight energy in supermans cells temporarily unable to be used. so he has no powers and he feels the intense energy he stored inside - now burning him.

    Nope, I’m going with the radiation from the Kryptonite that can seriously mess up Clark’s supercharged metabolism. In the Silver Age comics, Superman was juggling a chunk of green Kryptonite whilst he was exposed to a red sun, perfectly fine.
    “Kryptonite is deadly to Superman because it’s haunted with Kryptonian ghosts.” Give me a break.

  • @metalchickenproductions332

    This checks out and explains why some kryptonite harms him in small amounts(high density/remnants of Kryptonian cities) and other times big chunks can be overpowered by him (rural/no population zones of krypton)

  • @MasterLink2
    @MasterLink2 Před 9 měsíci

    It's a neat idea, but no. And it shouldn't hurt him exactly. We did see his blood boil in Smallville. But I prefer the explination that it just rapidly drains his stored solar energy, making him normal, and too much exposure can permantly strip his ability to store it, basically neutralizing his powers. Which would also makes sense as to why Kryptonians never had powers, if the planet was made out of it, along with the red sun.

    I once read a theory that Superman’s powers are at least partly psychic in nature, and that kryptonite being the remains of the planet Krypton and therefore being present for the deaths of billions of people, is infused with all their dying anguish. Superman is exposed to this psychically, and it’s torturous.

  • @user-ug6tj4qu7l
    @user-ug6tj4qu7l Před 10 měsíci

    I thought it was common on krypton and naturally limited kryptonians, who didn't have powers like his on Krypton, except clark was intolerant since he left as a baby and it causes him to become weaker than most krytonian he fights when exposed to it. Clark drops in pain where the other guys just adjust to the situation.🧐

  • @BigDexMedia
    @BigDexMedia Před 9 měsíci

    I prefer the radiation aspect of it. Superman needs solar radiation to keep his superhuman physique, so anything not solar related (red sun or green kryptonite) would dampen or weaken his powers. Only gold kryptonite could permanently strip Superman of his superhuman powers.

    I've always assumed and am going to keep assuming that none of the people on Krypton have any super powers until they leave their planet, And Kryptonite doesn't hurt Superman it makes him human-like, and he can actually feel pain from all the injuries he sustained in all the fights he's ever had.
    Who's to say that humans wont end up with some superman type powers on other planets and a simple earth rock takes them away.

    So of Krypton was saved then Superman would have been unstoppable. Plus I've read and saw multiple movies and stories saying that Krypton exploding was just the natural end for Krypton. Ain't no way a Lantern could do anything, plus Kryptonians are 9 something level beings, they were 3 levels smarter than humans and had far better tech. They should have dipped.

    So to clean up this misinformation. Superman is elemental type superhero. His powers are based on whatever radiating based elements he comes in contact with. Kryptonite interferes with the process of Superman's body absorbing Yellow Sun radiation causing him to become sick as his body starts to absorb the Kryptonite energy as well.
