  • This Eagle 40 Pilothouse Trawler would be the perfect boat to consider if you are a husband-and-wife team, looking for a liveaboard cruiser for tackling the Great Loop. The saloon has plenty of comfort for relaxing, with massive panoramic views, and even has a doorway leading straight out into the aft cockpit. The galley is designed to allow you to cook your favorite meal regardless if you are at anchor, underway, or in a marina. You have a full height fridge freezer, microwave, 4 burner gas stove, and a gas oven. You also have the advantage of large countertop space for preparing meals, and tons of storage.
    Moving forward, you have the lower helm that has easy access to the main deck on both port and starboard sides. There is an L shaped settee area with a cockpit table beside the helm so your family and friends can be close by. For long distance passage making, the seating area doubles as a watch berth, and there is a day-head at the helm to you can always stay close to the helm.
    The forward cabin offers a large queen size island berth, with storage under the berth, on both the port and starboard sides, and more. There is a separate heads and shower compartment to give extra space and privacy when needed.
    This is a fantastic opportunity to purchase a sought after cruiser for only $159,000 in Daytona Beach, Florida. If you would like to arrange a viewing or make an offer etc, this boat was being offered for sale through Joe Egeberg on (386) 253-6266 or by email joe@daytonayachts.com.

    I'm familiar with Grand Banks, Albin, and Ocean Alexander. This is a very nicely laid out trawler. We are about 5 years from picking out our looper; but this is now on the list to watch for. Very nice presentation, by the way; not too lengthy, and inclusive of the necessities.

      Thanks!! This one wasnt as mass produced like the others you mentioned. In some ways, I think that makes it even more desirable as no one will recognize it when you do the Great Loop, and will be a great conversation ice breaker for you. Glad you enjoy my reviews, and have should have a Mainship coming up soon to film which is another popular Great Loop choice.

    I owned the smaller sister to this boat, the Eagle 32. Loved it. Only complaint was the gel coat was not the greatest. But maybe just that boat. Sweet. Great fly bridge design. Not so top heavy. They kept the profile low and very functional. Took it from Bahamas to Maine and back.

    Your right, its a good boat to use single handed. The transom is probably past the old buff and wax phase. Hopefully in 6 months they'll be back to trading in the more realistic prices of $75k-$100k which was what they were 6 years ago.

    A beautiful and very affordable looper boat. My only "gripe" is that you didn't spend ANY time on the secondary accommodations, if there are any that is. If there aren't then that is a MAJOR shortfall in any vessel beyond a simple day cruiser!

    • @Mandurath
      @Mandurath Před 2 lety +1

      For some it might be an issue. For others, it's a bonus. Comfortable guests tend to over stay their welcome. While for a couple, especially one that rarely entertains guests, the extra room is ideal. This boat's design, to me anyway (for its age), is great.

      She's a great liveaboard! As to live videos, I've experimented with different ways to film and edit. I don't like live because it isn't as easy when it comes to opening hatches or removing covers etc. I also don't do my audio as I film because there is too much background noise. I find that filming onboard and doing voice over at home gives a better picture and sound combo 🤷‍♂️

    I wonder why it wouldn’t make a good island hopper? Is it the design or the construction quality? Could a new owner make the modifications?
    I’ve only really sailed the inside passage, PNW, and North Pacific Ocean. Never been to the Bahamas but plan to move to Florida and buy a trawler in the next couple months to live on and do the loop, the Keys and the islands.
    This would be perfect size and price wise. Really want a Great Harbour N37 but it’s just a little out of reach.

    • @GarnockReviews
      @GarnockReviews  Před rokem

      The Bahamas is roughly 200 miles from Miami (give or take). As long as you had the right weather window, I wouldn't think this one would have any issues making that trip. This could island hop just as comfortably as it would cruising up the Intercoastal.
      You might also like the trawler I just added yesterday too. 40ft, twin diesel, and $85k. It's in the same marina with the same broker in Daytona 🤠

    Can someone please explain to me the Great Loop? Is that a trip down to Florida using the Intercoastal Waterway?

    • @GarnockReviews
      @GarnockReviews  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Hey Mike. If I was doing the loop, you head north from Florida on the intercoastal, make it all the way up and then cross through the Great lakes, into the Mississippi River, down to New Orleans, then round the gulf back into Florida. Most people take a year to do it so you can enjoy various stops along the way. It's roughly 5000 mile trip. 2 big elements with the boat is a bridge in Chicago with height restrictions, and a section on the Mississippi River where you need more than 200 mile fuel range 😉

      Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it. You are correct, only 1 cabin on this one. That way, you get a larger cabin with more space and storage, rather than 2 small cabins for extended cruising. @travelingtimothy Před 2 lety

      I am not an expert in trawlers and we know the market is over-the-top but quickly retracting. But single screw excellent shape probably $99k considering the vintage. This is a super nice boat and someone will probably step up to the price.

    • @GarnockReviews
      @GarnockReviews  Před 2 lety +1

      I agree the market is slowly shifting back to pre-Covid days. I hope it doesn't shift back to the 2008 days, but time will tell. I am seeing more and more boats remain on the market where it felt like 6 months ago you could sell anything that floats in 24 hours. I have also heard banks are getting stricter on boat / RV finance, so that may help bring prices back into line too. I think this one will sell well and close to full asking price, especially with it being such an economical but to run. A single person or couple could live on this permanently if they wanted, and would be cheaper than most housing markets too.

    • @travelingtimothy
      @travelingtimothy Před 2 lety +1

      I am sure you will have a fast sale. The twin screw reliability and relative low engine hours is the most sought after combination. Other eagles on the market are placed at lofty prices so you will probably be fine!
