Hey, you can be the change you want to see in the world by joining our discord to talk with Dr. K.
Hey is this still a thing? I don’t think you still do stuff like a discord talk with Dr K, right?
how can I join the discord. I joined, but I got muted (presumably for advertising) and then I kinda left it afterwards
How do I talk to Dr K? I think that would really help me find hope again...
Really impressed by Dr. K’s patience. Too many egos trying to impress Dr. K or validate themselves rather than learning. I love the idea of interacting with your community, but with this many people in a call with variance in their own journeys, you don’t get a lot of momentum in these discussions. Just be still for a moment and let the man speak. 😒
I notice that I try to impress my therapist but idk why I keep doing that.
@@mello4399 cuz you wanna be loved and think you are not enough, maybe ?
@@mello4399 that is what you need to tell to you therapist
Lmfao the fucking irony of this comment. Your projection is quite evident. They don’t mindlessly slurp up every word Dr K says and suddenly they’re “trying to impress” him by asking fuckin questions.
No wonder people joke about this being a cult. You can’t even question your Dear Leader without someone shitting their pants over basic discussion.
Look, everyone is ragging on these people, or voicing how it was unproductive. I want to say something a little different:
I think this was a really useful for Dr K to realize that these people still had a ways to go before getting it.
Judging them and saying "wow they're dumb" is really not the take away you want you want here, when you can instead say "wow, I wonder what is holding these people back from reaching the point I'm at".
Like, congrats, you understand dharma really well, but maybe you have a ways to go about ego. And well all know an unbalanced ladder will never support anyone very well.
Take note if you feel called out here and reflect on what might have compelled you to respond that way ❤️
A voice of reason
I think the way it is done is the perfect way. It shows people and their elements, misunderstanding, ego, etc. a great event to reflect to
It's not a matter of the callera not understanding it't a matter of them being rude and cutting off Dr K amd not letting him to answear the question they asked.
Honestly can’t stand the irony of the people complaining about the guests’ “egos” just because they don’t mindlessly consume every thing that comes out of his mouth without question. Massive facepalm.
@@hdshjsYeah, no. That isn’t the problem you have.
This was really interesting but also messy with multiple people. It honestly also felt like they were more focussed on showing their intellect than on learning...
What do you expect from a platform with generally naive and obnoxious kids
@@SacredCASHcow exactly! and because it is so complex I would have hoped them to be more willing to learn from Dr. K. atleast come across more motivated to learn what he has to say.
This approach allows the viewer to either approach or assault the meaning from their point of view.
Personally I think this is FANTASTIC. I love seeing a multitude of views centered on a singular subject.
I disagree i think that their questions were rational questions, I think your adding the predisposition to their questions
They were asking questions, hopefully, trying to understand. I don't think they were trying to prove anything but that's on them. They ask, he answers. If it was just him monologuing then what's the point of having people in voice chat?
I keep seeing these commemts saying the users in the discord are trying to "impress" in some way by asking questions aboyt it, all the questions they asked were completely rational. If dharma was easy to understand then everyone would get it. Put your ego in check befkre you make the cynical assumption that they're motives behind their question is ego fulfilled.
hard to watch, you have a lot of patience for these guys
Damn the comment section going hard on the Discord guys, I liked the discussion honestly and I rather hear opinions from other POVs than just listen to one opinion because I might misunderstand some parts
I agree, I really don't understand the dislike people have for this discussion.
Personal Experience:
PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
made me laugh lmao
20:40 I bet the guy responding thinks he was right in that moment :) gotcha.
I like the idea of interacting with an audience for immediate audible feedback, but what's shown in this video demonstrates how it could be at times chaotic especially since it's unprompted. I would suggest a more "Raise your hand" approach when you want to speak to others on discord. Otherwise, there are other chat clients that could make things a bit smoother. I think your amazing mods on the server can think of something to make it work in the future!
This was helpful, and very helpful for me to learn that Dharma isn't necessarily a big thing.
This is Dr K’s best video on Dharma for me. In case you’re not sure whether to watch this I’d definitely recommend watching it.
3:33 When you hungry and you can only think about indian dinner
22:12 is ridiculous.. “no i don’t think they are”
What's equally ridiculous is that it demonstrates the point Dr K made literally seconds before, "If you put an opinion or statement out there on the internet, people will just try to refute it rather than reflect on it."
These guys are so fucking dense.
I feel like that guy, more than anyone else, was just trying to sound smart by being overly contrarian and abstract
@@DrakodanSRL His lack of self awesomeness was impressive. He says he doesn't think he's right a second ago, but then speaks as if he knows and understands everything. So tiring.
many discord monologue andy's
hard to cure lack of self-awareness. I did think there were some super good questions at points though
Im in this video and you only hear my voice like once, Im glad im not a monologue andy
I think if this idea were done in the future again, that a bit more structure could help eliminate some of the off topic conversations. For example, having parts of the discussion being open Q&A but also establishing more of a lecture style where only revelant questions can be asked/only answers are allowed to be given for some set period of time.
I always discount my past experience and education as failure's, which some things absolutely were, but I can see how they can shape my future now.
Don't love this format. Others were were trying too hard to front and be cool.
The best explanation to describe Dharma would be "What can you help with." If you figured out how to change a car tire, and then see someone on the side of the road with a flat, a spare, and no clue how to apply it. Then it is your Dharma to assist that person. Basically, do what you can do as an individual, with the skills you have acquired as an individual.
And to answer the question how do I know which Dharma is right, well.. That is the answer you will receive through soul searching. Meditation helps a lot with soul searching.
Meditation basically asks your heart what it thinks. Try it if you haven't yet. Changed my life quite a bit.

19:00 relatable situation - Dr.K gave advice for people who live with toxic family
Im an artist. I paint and I write. I do these things because I think culture can become stagnant like rotten water. And new art is the fresh water that reinvigorates the society.
My parents are worried about me and are sort of against the idea of me being an artist because they think that I am grinding my soul for nothing.
But I cannot help it. It is what I must do. I discovered this after doing psilocybin.
Find a Way to capitalize your art
I agree with you, I tried going in different paths rather than art, but I have to do it. My chronic illness almost forced me back into art and it is completely ok to recognize your dharma as creating art and loving people/ having romantic partner
Can new people get on the stream? Or are you backed up with too many applicants already?
I think the people in the conversation should have been more open to what you were speaking of, and trying to learn, instead of doing that, they were kind of dismissing what you said sometimes.
you should have a podcast on spotify
So initially I was a bit frustrated with the way this stream went, but now that I've slept on it I think I have a theory:
As Dr K says, a lot of the healthygamer following are vata-minded (check out his dosha videos), so we pick things up quickly and forget them quickly too, this includes abstract ideas and different ways of thought. This is why it's frustrating to watch this video because we get the definitions and examples he gives us sooner.
The people in the video were quite slow to understand the meaning of dharma, and even with explanations and examples they still seemed a bit distant. I feel like this might be a kapha-minded way of thinking, and I believe now that they've had some time away, they might actually rewatch this video and realise what he meant.
Maybe I'm over-analysing, but just a thought. I guess I'm frustrated because I came here to learn more about dharma and instead half the video was talking about a hypothetical about racists, but lets have some compassion here and understand that not everyone is on-board with some things, all you can do is what you can do. Live and let live :)
Hope those guys are doing well!
uh ??? whot. I think everyone asked really good questions and it got closer to the truth and the core of the problem more than you guys think
Ikr, not everyone can understand new things quickly, soo by asking stupid questions help them understand it themselves, hence why our lecturers tell us there’s no stupid questions
My problem is that I dont know what to focus on in my "training phase". Even if I don't know what life will demand of me, surely there must be ways to predict what skills and knowledge would be most valuable, right? Does it really not matter what I do? If it really doesn't matter then how do I decide from the big pool of things that interest me?
No, there's no way to predict what life tosses at you. There's no definitive walkthrough for life since everyone has had a different experience. That uncertainty is scary but doing anything or something is 100mil times better than not doing anything. But it's just my opinion
i think some core things like physical/mental health, meditation. as for what to focus on, maybe follow your curiousity and just start anywhere. i get exactly where you're coming from tho. i think doing anything is better than spending so much time thinking about what to do. ik you posted this a year ago lol, hope you've found at least a bit more clarity!
Ask yourself what you're interested in, and just start there. If you'd like to help people as a dharma, look up various NGOs and causes, try out some volunteering. Dr K talks like almost zero agency over your calling, but I think you can absolutely just _choose_ one. Find something you care about and just do it, _then_ let life carry you in new directions. After you already opened the door that you'd like to walk through.
For me it was working with the homeless, if you'd like some specific suggestions. Those are some of the most in-need people out there.
Basicly you need to do , before thinking about dharma, but thats the problem with me, i have a lot of desires that could lead to my dharma but i dont even try to reach thoose desires.
I feel enlightened.
Discord users were actual pepegas I can't believe some of these questions
I think the Discord Users Sessons are a little chaotic and sometimes thereforce important lessons get swept under the rug, because of people trying to hightlight their opinion.
In my opinion it would more useful if you have multiple people and discuss as an example one by one their dharma explain, while the rest listens, then when you talked to all ask questions to all and discuss possible problems / approaches etc..
hi dr.k - im not sure if you can see that but i still have a question. maybe the comunity can help aswell :P.
a bit about me: im 21 and i work as an system engineer (IT). im happy how things are going, i work on myself and honestly my life is great :). the problem is that i kinda dont know what i am supposed to do with my life. my job is great.
i heard you talking about dharma and how to find it (or how it finds you) and i was once again thinking about what my purpose is. i know i wanna help people on a personal level, but i dont know how i can combine that with my work, so i should build my own business or go to school again (learn about psychology or philisophy) and do something with that.
my other thought is that im happy with my job (i have fun i learn new stuff but its not like a big passion) and i could "save" that time and "just" be there for the people around me i love - and myself. how do i know if what im doing is enough? because start at the university is a big desicion and i dont wanna waste my time if i can be fullfilled with helping "only" the people around me.
if you dont have the time answer, i still wanna thank you for your work and i love what you're doing
You should send him a dm in discord or twitter or a mail dude :) you will have a higher chance to get some response there :)
How you doing a year later?
@@yeezyy_ye actually crazy that this was a year ago^^ my life is kinda the same (but homeoffice yay), im in a 5 months relationship now and just spend 2 weeks with my girlfriend which lives in another country. Super happy about that (about spending time, not that shes far away^^). And to get to the question i asked dr k: i kinda figuered out that enough is enough if i feel like its enough. Im not searching for a mind blowing new passion and i try living life every day in the moment and keep my eyes open for new opportunites as i go on.

Just saying for those like me who feel like the videos are too slow and you won't be able to focus that long, bump the playback speed up, helps a lot!
Hey Healthy I just Followed you on twitch and I’m going though depression and anxiety
In saying there is no simple answer, I would be careful here. If there was a simple answer, one is blinding oneself from seeing it. It would create cognitive dissonance if one saw it, and one would have to say that one was wrong in order to see it. This is of course much harder to overcome than if one didn’t have to say one was wrong.
I find that better and more effective answers tend to be simpler, or at least have parts that are simple and relatively easy to grasp.
In saying there is no right or wrong, I find this a problem as there typically are parts that are right or wrong (and the critique for the previous thing applies here too). I think what one is really trying to say is that one can’t see a clear way of there being a right or a wrong here. So, it may not be as fruitful to focus on this aspect at times when progress seems stalled. This seems more about how to handle oneself when searching for the better when one gets stuck. I do think it is useful to see things as right or wrong, as do it or don’t do it, use it or lose it.
oh i saw this live
I somewhat disagree with others comments about the people getting off topic. I think if they had stuck with how do you know if your own believed Dharma is wrong. Otherwise very good questions
Oh God, the questions people were asking, that was so annoying. Just let Dr.K get to the point...
I was frustrated by the guy who kept confusing “the world” with “other people”, but then I remembered that it’s actually common for some people to regularly use “the world” to mean “people” so maybe that’s where he’s coming from?

@3:12 did that guy just compare a psychiatrist helping people to xqc watching random youtube videos while not being able to complete a proper sentence?
In a way yes but also no as it served more of a way of coping rather than direct help.
Can we draw parralel between dharma and ikigai?
Nice thought! I think there is a similarity between them, and dharma is more of the "advocacy"/"what the world needs" and "what you're good at" part of ikigai. It doesn't really question what you "enjoy to do" and "can be paid for". They CAN be a part, but not necessarily the point of dharma.
I notice it's been a year, do you have more thoughts about it?

Not sure if you will read this but I think you should periodically hop on discord to interact with your community. Otherwise is it really your community or is it just a bunch of fans consuming links to things posted there? Discord is about interacting but if you never reach out to the people there, it's not much different from a facebook wall or a twitter feed.

Wtf they saying sometimes, he identified himself with a healler character in a game and thats dharma? LoL
So, did he do wrong?
@@Grizzlywer Nothing he tried to give a answer, like drk does when he wants to explain smth to us. Like meditation to focus is increasing your INT Stat in a mmorpg for example. But this guy just tryed to do the same with the wrong context, he really didn't understood why Dr. K uses thoose analogies to help us understand. He was connecting dharma with a wrong analogie, saying that Dr. K choosed his dharma because he liked and felt connect with a char in a game that heals people lol. I KNOW That they were in this interview bc they didn't knew what dharma means and how to find it but still. Fortunaly dr.k already gave us all the hints to dharma, and I already understood it based one his videos and stream. Dharma is not something that you choose, you only find dharma by doing stuff, if you dont do stuff you will not find your path, you need to try and understand when the world's gives you ints, like working in a software company, you are a newcomer u do basic stuff all day and still don't know what area of software development you WANt to work, but then one day you receive a opportunity to work in a software project to a machine to do hearth cirurgies alone, that's karma and dharma coming to play, it's a opportunity and a indication of what path you should follow, and it is in your hands to try it and see. I can't explain you anymore, this isn't my native language and it's hard to explain some stuff, but I hope you get it. Ps:that's the problem with myself I can't find a meaning of life. i'd argue that racism is a necessary protect mechanism for one's race under specific circumstances. Different race may pose different ideas, values and traditions that could be harmful to your own race/culture group. Also, i don't think there's an absolute moral or immoral in this society, because the moral standards have been ever changing since the dawn of time, and it could also be differed based on various ethnic groups and culture backgrounds.
In short, the people who came on the show don't seem to have a worldly outlook. They're smart but they have a very narrow perspectives of things.
