More free keyless entry programming instructions available at www.ProgramYour...
1. Locate Data Link Port. It is located under dash on drivers side. Be sure you know which pins are 8 and 4.
2. Make sure there are metal contact pins in terminals 8 and 4. Connect 8 to 4 with a suitable jumper wire ( leave the jumper wire connected throughout the programming procedure). Make sure you know which terminals are 8 and 4. The vehicle will respond by locking and unlocking the doors to signify entering of programming mode.
3. Press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons together on the first remote to be programmed and after about 15 seconds, the vehicle will respond by locking and unlocking the doors. Release buttons on remote.
4. Within one minute, repeat step 3 on the remaining remotes to be programmed.
5. Remove jumper wire applied to OBDII port.
Best video! I have been going back to this video about once a year for the past 10 years .. thank you
You're Welcome!
Fantastic video ,I was able to program my new door remotes for my 97 Silverado.
Nice!
Great video! Thanks for your help! I have the same car, and been having trouble with programming my new remote, but all thanks to you & your video, it helped me program my new remote! Thanks
Glad it helped!
My 98 chevy Silverado will not lock and unlock when jumping 4 and 8 it came with factory remote but lost and ordered new one, any suggestions? Cant find any information on what to do if it doesn’t go into program mode
Hey I have a Chevy 98 silverado whenever I attach the battery the alarm goes off I don't have my keyfob to disarm it it's stuck in anti theft mode and I can't do the relearn procedure do you think this would work for me I'm trying to get a new key fob so I can disarm it and do the relearn procedure
I’m in the SAME situation, we’re you able to find the solution?
How many can you do
Can some one help me my cuestion is that I have a Chevy Silverado 1996 but I can only find the entery remote key Chevy Silverado 1997 does it work as well as the original remote key?
I tried this in my 98 sierra. Used the paper clip and the locks locked/unlocked, but trying 2 different fobs, nothing happened. I don’t know the history of this truck except a crate motor was put into it, so maybe it has something to do with the computer.
if you are sure the new fobs are the correct ones and working then there may be an issue with the receiver for the key fob system in the vehicle
Thanks bro!
You're Welcome!
I was wondering if you could help. I have a 1999 Tahoe that came with fobs. They worked fine minus having range issues here and there. As of recently though, the fobs no longer work. I replaced the batties in both fobs and tested them transmitter tester and the fobs are working fine. What do you think could be the problem?
It is the old body style not the new body style btw
I'm assuming you already tried to re-program them using this procedure? If you already tried to reprogram the remotes (transmitters) and you know the remotes are putting out a signal, you may have an issue with the receiver in the vehicle.
Will this work on my 2013 ?
No - unfortunately there is no manual procedure for a 2013
🇸🇪 i have a 1997 Suburban LT over here in Sweden.
When I bought it there was no remotes. But as I was a Chevy/Saab mechanic in the 90’s, I took the chance and ordered a remote from eBay and followed this procedure. It worked. It felt like a Christmas gift 😍
But I have a question though. I haven’t seen or heard any horn, turn or dash signal indicator.
Is it likely that my truck had those functions when it was brand new or were they delivered with two options, alarm system or only keyless remote?
I admit that in Sweden it was mostly S10 pickups and Astros. Not ONE Suburban LT 6.5 in my career 🤑😩
Glad it helped! - not sure on the locking feedback settings though
I have a 94 suburban 6.5 diesel and can confirm they are rare here in the states.
Can you give me insight as to why the locks don't engage when jumper wire is inserted to the OBD ports (4&8)? The power lock work from the door switch on both doors.
It sounds like your vehicle may not have the factory keyless entry option
Will it work for Chevy 2001 because I looked on the other video but my car does not have the lock and unlock button and electrical window so will it work?
No
Is there a way to program more than 2 fobs?
Fast and easy
Thanks
I HAVE 1997 C1500 AND PUT PAPER CLIP ON 4 AND 8 AND DID NOT WORK ANY INFO
it sounds like the vehicle may not have the factory remote option
Will this work on a 95?
no
Does it work on a Chevy c1500 1989 though I got electric door locks
No
I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado single cab with Manuel window do you know how I can program my key fob
Are you sure your Silverado has the factory remote option? not all did
Safe to assume this will work for a 2000 old body style k3500?
I believe it will - if the truck has the factory remote option installed.
I have a 1993 chevy silverado k3500 dually, with power locks and power windows. When I brought it, it didn't come with a remote. How do I know if my truck came with that option? And if so can I program a remote?
The factory remote option was not offered on the Silverado in 1993 - so your truck wont have it. If you did want to add a remote, you would need to add a whole aftermarket system.
@@PYR-Auto what if I have an aftermarket system on a 1993 c1500 electric windows and locks?
Hi. I have a 98 cargo van europa export. And i cant get the van into programming mode with pressing unlock button and the paperclip method doenst work either because i have no connector at pin 8 in the obd port. I'm at a loss because i cant disable the antitheft system, so the van wont start. 6.5td. Anybhelp would be much appreciated. Next stop is the scrapyard if i cant get it running again. Thanks in advance for any help!
This method will only work on vehicles built for the U.S. market. I don't have the information for the European vans but on the U.S. vehicles when there is not a pin in slot 4 or 8 it generally means the vehicle does not have the keyless remote option installed.
@@PYR-Auto thanks for your quick reply! Someone told me that there was some kind of extra antitheft system for the export vans.
Can I just buy any random remote and program them like this ? Will it also work with remote start ?
No - it needs to be the correct remote for your vehicle. This only works with factory remote systems and these trucks did not come with factory remote start.
I bought a cheap GM one on eBay. It worked great.
What about if I have a manual transmission I already tried that procedure and it didn’t work
It sounds like your truck may not have the factory remote option installed
I have a 1995 Chev 1500. I think I have an OB1 ( with 6 instead of 8 holes). Could someone please help me? My remote has a new battery in it but does not do door locks or start the truck. TIA
a 1995 is a bit different - you can find those instructions here www.programyourremote.com/classified/1995-chevrolet-ck-pickup-keyless-entry-remote-key-fob-programming-instructions-listing-6325.aspx
can some one plz help me...i did this but when i put it in #4 and #8 my locks dont do anything
Sounds like your vehicle may not have the remote start option installed
I have a 2001 GMC Sierra would it work
No but you can find the video for a 2001 here czcams.com/video/5a89yc9-_p8/video.html
Would this work for a 93 suburban?
No
Can I used any remote? Thank you
No - it needs to be the correct remote for your vehicle
Where can I buy that remote?
check out bit.ly/CarAndTruckRemotes
Does any key fob work on this year of pickup?
No - it needs to be the correct one
@@PYR-Auto what’s the correct one could u send the link for it??
Every one of the (other) videos on CZcams have an entirely different procedure. Who am I to believe? No other video mentions jumping wires in the OBD port. Its put the key in the ignition, hold down the unlock button until the locks cycle, then hold down both lock and unlock on the remotes until the locks cycle. My 1999 Chevy Express van needs to have my two FOBS programmed to the vehicle. Afraid to try either method. Why the discrepancy?
If you're Express has the factory remote option ( not all do ) then it will use this programming procedure
@@PYR-Auto
You were right. It worked just like you said. I wonder why there is a discrepancy. Thanks.
Hi so I have these remotes for my 96 c1500 and it does have the keyless entry. I currently have a cheap ebay one that works but I cant get these ones (ones in video) to work do u know y? Thank you
Are you sure you have the factory keyless entry and not an aftermarket system?
@@PYR-Auto it is stock verified on RPO Codes in glove box
If it does have the factory system then the method shown in the video is the only onboard procedure. Are you getting the door locks to cycle after jumping the pins?
@@PYR-Auto yes It does I had a cheap one from ebay that worked and for some.reason this one dont
@@ramirezj115 Since your getting the vehicle into programming mode and your original one is responding I would assume it is just an issue with new remote
Where can I buy this tho
check out bit.ly/CarAndTruckRemotes
Good video can I used any remote ?
No - it needs to be the correct remote for your vehicle
When I put the paper clip in ports 4 and 8 , nothing happens. I have power locks. What could be the problem ?
It sounds like the vehicle may not be set-up for factory remotes
@@PYR-Auto Yes it came with a keyless key fob and it used to work
@@davidripolone I have a 1999 CK2500 Crew cab, and mine is this way too. You can program the remotes, but the locks don't cycle when you jumper the pins. It will cycle after about 5 seconds of holding both buttons down on the remote though, and then they are programmed.
@@jamesbrown-cy1mj Thanks, I will give this a try
Just was wondering if it worked? I have a 1996 c1500 that’s doing the same.
Hi I tried doing this and it doesn't work. Does that mean that mines doesn't work?
Are you sure your vehicle has the factory remote option installed? Do you have now or have you ever had a working remote for the vehicle?
@@PYR-Auto no I bought the truck without a remote. I never knew it had a remote but I've seen other videos and I read comments stating that it works without knowing you had a remote so I kept looking for more resources until I found your video. What can I do to get a remote if you please can help.
If the vehicle does not respond when the paper clip is inserted into the correct slots, then there is a good chance your vehicle may not have the factory remote option installed. If you look in your glove box, you will see the parts identification sticker with a list of codes on it. the code for factory remotes is AUO. If you do not see that code than your vehicle is not equipped.
So I need some help. I have a 99 Silverado. When I bought it, it did not come with the key fob. Got one online and would not program. Been dealing with this for a year now. Went out today and got a new keyless entry module with two fobs. Still will not program! I'm doing the usual hold down unlock on drivers door, turn key on off on off and it goes into program mode. That's where it ends. I also checked the fuse and it's good. Am I missing something? Help!
@@jamesfayad6093 Typically in that case I wold recommend replacing the key less entry receiver but it sounds like you already did that with replacing the module. I know you said you checked the fuse but one other thing you may try is pulling the fuse for the keyless entry system for about 20 mins, then re-install. That should re-set the system.
So I’ve tried this for my k1500 but nothing happens
Sounds like your truck may not have the factory remote option installed.
@@PYR-Auto do I have to buy a system to have a key fob? or do I have to have the key fob programmed by computer?
@@PYR-Auto also does the key need to be in the ignition for this to work
They key should not need to be in the ignition for this to work. If your truck does not have the factory keyless remote option then yes you would need the whole system installed. It may be cheaper to install an aftermarket system rather than getting the factory one.
Will it work if don’t have electrical windows ?
It just needs to have the factory remote option installed. If it does not have that option installed, one or both pins will be missing in the connector that's shown in the video.
Bullshit, didn't work for me
