@@bruises.n.bitemarks I just feel like Exodus ended on a pretty good note. It seemed like the proper ending place, at least for Artyom and his crew. I can see Metro taking a Gears of War approach and shifting to new characters though.
Plus, I wonder if a fourth game will go back to Metro or continue the open world on the surface theme.
Also, it is worth noting that Exodus was pretty much entirely new material given where the book series ended. So anything going forward will likely be as well. That is unless they decide to go back to Metro and base the game on Metro 2034 since not much of that book made it into the games IIRC. That means we could get a game focused on Hunter, Homer, and Sasha.

Metro Exodus is a fantastic game, but I heavily reccomend you playing Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light before diving into Exodus. The previous titles are dirt cheap and amazingly good, espcially Last Light is a gem. Exodus however is the best. Also, play on Hardcore Ranger difficulty, any other difficulty ruins a bit of the soul of Metro. A dark gritty survival where every shot and decision counts.

It's also very grounded with a minimal HUD and you're not littered with map icons. You just have an actual physical map you pull out, with a few icons, and that's about it. This causes you to actually explore, rather than constantly being told where to go and what to do.

Exodus was a desperate breath of fresh air for me. Great story imo. Loved the strength of Anna and Artyom's relationship as well as the growth of other characters. Even though Artyom and Anna have had their ups and downs, they have held strong. Something believe it or not, is not show in movies and games hardly anymore are strong traditional relationships. To me, stories like this are inspiring.
Anna is a great strong female character and is more important than Artyom as he himself would sacrifice his own life for her. In this since, the story had me on edge for it's finale and in tears. The good ending with the Colonel, omg, wonderful payoff. Little things in the story too tell a lot. Artyom comes back from a mission to see an over joyed Anna waiting for him. She hugs him, pulls back, holds his hand for a minute, then, something no movies or games do, she hugs him again. THIS makes their relationship so believable and heart warming... yet in a nuclear winter. Nothing else that I've watched or played lately, captures that emotion the same way.
To many times now adays, movies and games are criticized for not having female leads, in a genre that is predominately male. Males are inspired by females so we relate to the girl in distress scenarios. It's hard for us to relate or care about female leads who only care about making progress in a career as an example. Now, if that female lead was rescuing a male in distress, as weird as that may be, it would be more relatable and heart felt.
I prefer characters like Anna, Alyosha, etc over the main characters most of the time anyway, as those represent the people I care about and provide my reason to push forward in this wasteland of a world.
Artyom is a selfless character who puts others lives over his, which is something I relate to as I live my life this way and this engaged me beyond most storys of today.
A lot of today's protagonists are selfish and egotistical when compared to Artyom, male or female, reason why Exodus was such a nice change of pace.

      @themens200 Před 4 lety +5

wow, you literally explained everything i felt about the game
i finished the game some days ago and i still feel mixed emotions, the relationship of artyom and anna is beautiful, yet living in such ruined world is cruel.
and their relationship is perfect like you said, she saved him alot, yet she always shows that she's always dependent on him and that he's her incentive to live and the same for him, while other games with similar relationship doesnt give you that, it shows you that both love each other, yet they are strong on their own, so they feel cold.
but what touches me more deeper is, are humans so dump like this to destroy their world?, i mean, wars are understandable when a party fights the other for something and one of them wins, but what i dont understand, why use weapons that will wipe us both and leave nothing for us?

This video covered pretty much everything I had on my mind while playing. Great execution, too.
The Metro games seems to always work, so far, because its like you playing a little slice of history. There isn't necessarily a big start or a big end, but what happens is thick enough in atmosphere to challenge the best of movies or novels.
The Stalker games were mentioned in this vid; I find that Metro Exodus is somewhat similar to Call of Pripyat in just that one detail: maybe the plot points aren't the of the grandest scale, but that's a strength. CoP is about some helicopters, with really no great reveal, and Metro Exodus does what it does, and the plot isn't as basic as in CoP, but the smallish slice of time (even though it's a long period story-wise) is done perfectly.
They also did the troupe of NPC co-adventurers really well. So happy you didn't focus on the negative points

"Metro Exodus is like a big bang and a scary camp fire story all at once", that has got to be the best way to explain all of the Metro series! haha i love it. Anyways, i'm a huge fan of the series and have played all of them way to much. I'm biggest about the story of it all. But the graphics and and smooth game play all makes this game amazing "including the others in the series". The third to the series "Exodus" is by far my most favorite for its new game play mechanics such as how guns will become dirty and must be maintained, crafting is new, simple, but also feels good and refreshing and most importantly, it compliments the whole game and not taking you away from the story. Building your guns for combat is by far the best point for new features in this game. its similar to the others, however in this it feels like your in full control of your build. ranging from a simple pistol to equipping a long barrel, a good stock and a scope now tuns a simple hand gun into a long range rifle/pistol. This goes to all guns in the game ranging in its classifications. Downside to this game, but not a killer, to me is personal I feel this game lacks in some areas of the level of how scary this game can be (compared to Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light). That may be due to the variety of environments you'll go through on this adventure of Metro Exodus. All together if your a fan of Metro, id say get it and you wont be disappointed. If your new, its great of course but you may be lost in certain points to the story due to not playing the others. Hope people find this comment helpful!
Final rate to the game, I give it 8.5 out of 10.

I am russian from Latvia (a post soviet country) and I enjoyed playing this game a lot. It is so close to my personality. Surroundings in the game (especially first winter chapter) quite closely resemble my country. Game atmosphere is chilling and graphics look spectacular. Designers have done a huge work. There are so many spots to explore apart from main tasks. That's why I loved this game so much. Highly recommended.

The game also has a lot of issues that have not been addressed yet, such as the gamma issue, some textures issues, some objects with no collision, invisible object from one side but overall a really good, game I stopped playing it in the desert due to the gamma issue as it was unbearable but now there is a “solution” to it so I playing it where I left and it is nice

The game was very different to the original two. The first two were very claustrophobic, tense and had a great time survivalist feel. I was happy sneaking from section to section, slowing sneaking and making sure to conserve my ammo. The third was was open world and huge. I got really impatient sneaking across a massive desert so I'd run everywhere and end up constantly fighting things and there is plenty of ammo to do so if you have the gear finder compass. This compass was useful but also super annoying constantly being told I was near equipment but not seeing where it was because things blended too heavily into the environment, so I spent way to much of my time attempting to find a seemingly invisible parts cache. It was still a good game but I disagree in classifying this as a classic metro game.
