When I was 9 years old our family went on a vacation there and did the Hawksbill Mtn. hike. We must have gone up the steep way because that's how I remember it. My sister was only 3 years old, so it was a tough hike for her and I don' think we even made it to the top. Now, thanks to your video, I can finally see the view from the top!

It was a beautiful view on a nice day. That would be a grueling hike for a 3 year old. Thanks for watching our adventure 😊.

We are heading there in April when things start blooming! We have about 5 or 6 trails on our agenda as well as Luray Caverns! Possibly head a bit more east and visit Busch Gardens, Williamsburg too! Cannot wait! Awesome video!

We’re heading to Shenandoah this weekend! Any hikes you would recommend where the kids could tag along for a mile or two?

Dark Hollow Falls is only 1.4 miles. It’s all down hill to the falls so the climb back out takes some work. Its rated moderate but I believe it’s the easiest of the waterfall hikes. I’m reading on the AllTrails app that it’s crowded unless you go early and the water flow is not great this time of year. Another hike that was fairly gentle was the AT (Appalachian Trail) section of our Hawksbill Hike. Go to the 7:25 minute mark of this video and you’ll see a trail map. I recommend you hike the AT the way we did a while and then return the same way. It’s nice and shaded and we saw some deer on it. A hike we didn’t do but sounds like it may be good for kids is Stony Man Trail. It’s less than 2 miles and takes you to the parks second highest point. It’s rated easy. You can always stop in the Visitor Center and talk to the rangers too. We find them helpful. We hope you have a wonderful trip 😊.
