Chorus:
So I'll wait for you and I'll burn
Will I ever see your sweet return,
Or, will I ever learn?
Lover, you should've come over
'Cause it's not too late.

This is exactly what his live performances were like, dead silence, with the audience forever in awe. Truely a once in a lifetime performer.
You lucky so-and-so.
ima love you
I cried after finding out about him only to learn he killed himself. Everything I've seen about him is next level. It's depressing.
@@walterfowler4371 He didn't kill himself
@walterfowler4371 Maybe you're thinking of his father who died from an overdose, Tim Buckley
No matter how far I venture with music, I always return to Grace
This is so precise. I listen to so many genres, from indie to hip hop, punk to progressive rock, symphony metal.
Still, nothing beats this album. It's like some other dimension above other music.
Same for me, love this album
You know when Jimmy Page is a fan that planned on working with him and David Bowie calls his album his desert island album that he is the G.O.A.T.
Yes!!!!!
@@FrankBurnhamimagine if he was still alive
Some stars burn twice as brightly for half as long.
I sat on the front porch tonight, in the mountains, drinking an old whiskey, listening to this song mixed with the crickets and cool mountain air. It was the best 6 minutes of this year.
omggggg! sounds perfect
@@kanishkaralasi7408 It was! I want to go back and relive it again soon. 🙂

Брат, да ты поэт. Поздравляю.
I'm such a lightweight but Jeff Buckley and mountains and cool night air sounds like absolute bliss to me....
It’s literally my dream
so weird how this looks new, like he never left
Right, I was looking for phones recording in the audience... there wasn't any. "fuck, this is the 90's"
Karl Glenn ikr people back then lived in the moment and I don’t blame them, this would of been a life changing moment to experience
His music never did. It lives forever, and so does he in our hearts.
His lineage lives on. James Franco, Andrew Murray and myself all have the same auburn Scotfro that Jeff did. Who else may claim such a set of lungs whilst being made of the clan stuff, however, I haven't quite seen the imposter yet.
I believe in the higher power, however. So I feel sure to be able to meet Jeff one day. Until then, c'est la vie. Navy trousers and a rightwards gyration.
he never did. you believe his faked death story? come on.
"She's the tear that hangs inside my soul forever"
I'm sad that I'll never see this man live, but glad that his music will live forever. He was pure emotion.
One of the best lines ever written in music.
Part of me has always enjoyed the legend that it adds to him. People like us never will see him live, and as much as I’d love to, it is more amazing to not be that lucky.
Feel the same.
So true ❤️
Beautiful man, with beautiful talent & messages ❤🐨🦘
This was before Grace was released, at the Middle East in Cambridge MA. Painfully intimate venue, probably like 50 people in that audience none of whom could have possibly been prepared for such sorcery. Lucky folks
Oooooh. I didn’t know that. How fantastic and special. ❤
Ive played this venue before in 2023, feels unreal that his presence was there before anybody could even comprehend it. Tears
It would have been a revelation. And staggeringly beautiful.
It's crazy how clear this footage looks
Why? lol It was only 1995. lol Everything was "clear" then. lol It wasn't the 1920's.
The power of analog film I guess. Queen filmed their live in Montreal on 35mm film, it can be rendered to 4k or even 8k today
who hasn't cried to this song 100000 times?
Not meee 😅

Just a reminder to everyone: This was live. How many artists can replicate that kind of perfection live?
zero.
I'll be the annoying guy and say that there are many artists that can do this, and many are mainstream. But the differential of Buckley's vocals is that he is always passionate about singing. Even with some slopes here and there, his passion overcomes and brings almost every rendition near to perfection. He was one of a kind for sure
he didnt replicate the studio perfection, he made a new perfection
He was also a great guitarist...not many people can play the guitar the way he did...many unusual chords 👍🏼
He was also a great guitarist...not many people can play the guitar the way he did...many unusual chords 👍🏼
5:10 the amount of emotions he put in this line, so genuine it's impossible not to get blown away. rest in peace Jeff.
Yep 5:10 till the end my favorite part of the song by far
I’m pretty sure the “I feel to young to hold on” is completely pitch perfect
The best. God it's so good
Earnest at its best, i cannot think of any other moment in any other song from any other artist that reaches this
The complete silence of the room and eyes looking up to him say it all...a legend that left too early
Whenever I see live footage of him I always wonder if the people in the audience had any idea how special what they were watching was. I'd give just about anything to have seen him play
@theryanbard
I always think the same. Sadly, many people aren't open to something new to them at the time. I know I would have been in tears regardless of whether or not I knew who he was.
I think all those guys down at the front knew how special he was.
Yeah, I think the same, they are just staring, I hope that would be for surprise.
I will say, some of the most meaningful moments I've had as a performer have been when people fall completely silent during a song, followed by brief silence in the seconds immediately following the end of the song, giving way to yelling, clapping, cheering.
You can often hear audience being really appreciating the talent, other times (maybe Sin-è) you want to reach through time and space and slap people. "Don't you know what you are witnessing?!".
Oh what I'd give to hear "like young lovers do" live. JB is the artist that made me realize anyone can become obsessed, it's just a matter of pressing the right buttons. I need to stay away from this music for long periods of time to be normal.
We miss you buddy, hope you're doing good in whatever dimension you're chillin in.
Zrob I hope he has guitar with him
ohh man, i could never be that casual about it.

@@DanielBoonelight You're very angry, and ignorant
@@smokingterd53 nah.. you actually don't know me at all... which is kinda the very point. i'm evidence-based. peace out dude~
I honestly think this is an instant classic. This song should be considered one of the best ever written. Can't understand how does it get so little attention.
Be that I never personally witnessed the magic; Jeff is a mythical creature to me. The only thing that assures me he was real is the testimony of others, live footage and the beautiful music he left behind. He left us transfixed and wanting...
He’s our secret
keep it secret.. keep it safe. john mayer said it was the greatest song written. dallas green only covers this. it's holy
As a man, I'm not afraid to admit he was a beautiful man!
man, he was such an underrated guitarist too. Those voicings are absolutely gorgeous and he made them his signature sound.
he's really careful about the conduction of the bass notes too, really rare in pop/rock guitarists
I didn't know that. Could you spell out some of those voicings? Cheers
@ It's simple decisions he takes at some articulatory points during the song, for example that D with a bass in F# at 2:12 approximately is just sweet man. Sorry if my English for musical theory is not accurate haha.
Ok so I heard the song again and the bass voicings aren't that magnificent, it's his choice of harmony what makes the song so splendid.
I think he wants his guitar like that, whipping/suffering to come along with the lyric
@@lyles32386 I agree, it really sounds like the guitar parts are always the key to his songs' structure.
The way his falsetto singing voice softens at the end of the performance brings tears to my eyes.
Actually it’s not falsetto. It’s his head voice, which is even more impressive.
@@NicoSlash2011 yeh , he was a leggiero Tenor and sometimes thought to be using falsetto because of the lighter quality . Its kinda rare cause they have a amazing range , like jeff and super agility. Jeff worked is voice in a amazing way ... such a legend!

Someone commented elsewhere that they had this concert uploaded on here, but it was taken down. I wonder what else they've claimed copyright infringement?
You obviously don't know that people can have their teeth capped, filed down, wear invisible braces and many other procedures done. I don't even remotely understand how you think "people are using doubles " would be a choice or even possible.
BellaMc doubles??..? really??... youre either 11 or 73 cos no one would believe in those things other than if you have just found out about conspiracy theory or youve been in a war so you love no one... i bet you believe that avril lavigne is dead too huh??... youre not only being an idiot your also disrespecting jeff's work as an artist and even as a human to call him a double... dipshit
towards the end when he hits the high notes and then sings "you should've come over", that right there is pain I've never felt before. it's so real, how his voice breaks, so real, so magical. I've really been blessed by destiny to have stumbled upon this man.
all these young men looking at him adoringly, how very appropriate. I love you Jeff. I'll always love you and miss you.

You are never too old

The most talented soul. What a loss for us all. 💛
LYRICS
Looking out the door
I see the rain fall upon the funeral mourners
Parading in a wake of sad relations
As their shoes fill up with water
Maybe I'm too young
To keep good love from going wrong
But tonight you're on my mind so
You'll never know
Broken down and hungry for your love
With no way to feed it
Where are you tonight?
Child, you know how much I need it.
Too young to hold on
And too old to just break free and run
Sometimes a man gets carried away,
When he feels like he should be having his fun
Much too blind to see the damage he's done
Sometimes a man must awake to find that, really,
He has no one
So I'll wait for you and I'll burn
Will I ever see your sweet return,
Or, will I ever learn?
Lover, you should've come over
'Cause it's not too late.
Lonely is the room the bed is made
The open window lets the rain in
Burning in the corner is the only one
Who dreams he had you with him
My body turns and yearns for a sleep
That won't ever come
It's never over,
My kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder
It's never over, all my riches for her smiles
When I slept so soft against her
It's never over,
All my blood for the sweetness of her laughter
It's never over,
She is the tear that hangs inside my soul forever
But maybe I'm just too young,
To keep good love from going wrong
Oh lover, you should've come over, yeah yeah yes
I feel too young to hold on
I'm much too old to break free and run
Too deaf, dumb, and blind
To see the damage I've done
Sweet lover, you should've come over
Oh, love I've waited for you
Lover, you should've come over
'Cause it's not too late
youre wrong
Perfection
The world is so fucking empty without you, Jeff...

I've been extremely anxious about my life, where it was going and the meaning of it. The very meaning of existence and how am I supposed to live through it in this weird pack of matter that is my body. But crying my eyes out listening to this song brought me more comfort than any philosophical answer. Thank you Jeff, for all the lost ones you helped. In this, you truly are immortal

Hands down, best performance of just a man and his guitar in the history of music. He makes the guitar speak with the perfect chords, and his voice never let's the listener go for a second.

Incredible how everytime one relationship ends in my life this fricking song pops in my life.

The thing that hits hard when watching Jeff’s live performances is knowing how the people who attended are only a select few compared to Jeff’s current fan base. These people there are so lucky to have been there, but they undoubtedly didn’t realize it, that his time would come not too long after this performance.
